Genocide scene was so hard to watch, it really did feel like order 66. It felt so brutal.
it actually feels like a genocide. Something the animated show couldn't show because... ya know... family rating.
Didn't expect to feel too much emotion as we hadn't really seen much of those others from the air nomad groups but it hit really hard. Score was also fantastic for the scene.

It’s insane that the air nomads just stood and fight i asume they didn’t know about the comet powering up the fire benders otherwise why stay at all ? Flee and wait the comet out. Watching monk G died was so sad knowing all the children in that corner were next, sozin was brutal and never got what he deserved, but on another note for air benders not being fighters but pacifist and not having a proper army + fighting juiced up air benders they put up a decent fight if I recall the fire nation had heavy loses everywhere on that day.
I literally cried when Aang and Gyatso are hugging 😭😭😭😭😭😭 I grew up watching this show and thank God! Netflix did justice to this beloved show! So far im loving this even tho there’s some changes but im fine with it.

Lore: avatars are reincarnated at birth. So aang was always the avatar, but avatars usually don’t learn about they are the avatar until they’re 16. The next episodes will discuss why aang seemed stronger and skilled compared to his peers.
It's not based on an manga/anime. It's a american series with South Korean animators
The Firebenders got stronger because of the comet, that's why they used that advantage to overpower the Air Nomads and killed them all. The Avatar is reincarnated when they die, and is born into the next cycle to the other nation (Water - Earth - Fire - Air). Typically announced at age 16 but since they sensed war they told Aang early.

Saw the first episode it felt like they are telling story through the dialogue and felt too fast paced...
Aang didn't become the avatar on purpose. There were made to choose a doll of their likeness and Aang took the same dolls Avatar Roku choosed before becoming the Avatar. This signifies that Aang remembers his past live and hence he is the avatar
As a passionate ATLA fan this is a pretty good first episode. After you finish the live action show, I highly recommend the original animated series. It's a timeless masterpiece and my fav show of all time.
Yes! Aang is now smiling in the new live action Avatar The Last Airbender series however unlike 2010 Aang, he never smile or joke in this movie which came out in 2010.....
What I like about the Netflix series is how they don’t shy away on how fucking brutal and devastating 100 years of war can be, and how absolutely violent, brutal, unforgiving, frightening, and dangerous the world can be. It also points out the damaging psychological impacts on people in a war torn world.
Not sure if they explain this to you or not, but no one can control who becomes the Avatar. It's a reincarnation at birth and it has a natural order. Aangs generation as an avatar is a natural airbender. After Aang dies, a water bender becomes Avatar. After that one, an earthbender. Then after that, a firebender. The cycle continues in that order forever. So, they don't want Aang becasue they want to become the Avatar. They want him so the Avatar cant stop their crusade.

The Air Nomads didn’t have an army because at this time in the world, the nations were relatively at peace. A lot of peace. The Fire Nation started to set up colonies but was relatively peaceful
I recommend you watch the cartoon as soon as you can. I haven't fully watched this live-action yet, though it seems good so far; but the cartoon is a masterpiece.

Definitely recommend watching the full cartoon Avatar series. It’s incredible. Even in the cartoon, Aang is already a master airbender. But you will see him train the other elements as the show goes on. Fun fact, the air nomads are the most powerful benders. BUT, the are monks. They are peaceful. They have no desire to fight or conquer. The comet comes every 100 years. When present, it multiplies fire venders powers to an insane level.
Honestly wished for the animated series they would've shown the defense of the air temples in like the avatar state, they did a really good job of it i think.

I think it was a good opening. I don't think the show will much the original but this was great. Seeing the the Fire Nation attack on the Air Nomads was something... Potrayal of Zuko was great. And the Aang & Gyatso hug... 🥹 Thank You for the reaction! ♥

some inacuries compared to the show that didn't sit right with me but over all looks good;
Katara already being able to bend a giant wave when she's supposed to be a absolute novice with practically no training
Airbender's are not supposed to be able to fly its been said time and again in korra
sokka's sexism due to him being the only male of age in the tribe removed which makes his evolution later in the show through strong female characters make less sense.
