0:22 The reference to a timelord is spot on as Scooter often made references to multiple songs from The KLF, who have also used the pseudonym The Timelords.
I am pretty sure H.P. Baxxter(singer) is talkin about "fishbone-cocain"-short-"fish", which was pretty much the best available in the 90's. So he is actually making fun of Jimmy Fallon, who doesen't know what he is talking about at all.
Thank you. Now I finally know how much the fish was.. I‘ve been wondering for years! Seriously, nobody listens to Scooter because of the great lyrics- it‘s just music and beats to dance to!
A friend of mine was buying Scooter tickets while he was drunk - he said this was one of the best "concerts" of his life because the whole show was just ONE BIG PARTY 😂! 10/10 he said 👌
The lyrics are still ridiculous. Even Germans make fun of them. I don't think Scooter are taking themselves too seriously either, as the video shows. ;)
LolloRosso Scooter nailed it to every we love 90's Concert in Danmark, totally packed with People, and there Concert in Europe is often sold out, so just make fun
Claus P That's a matter of taste. The music industry in the United States is much bigger than that of a country like Germany. Not everyone likes the genres that you like, just like you don't seem to like a lot of artists from the United States. It's fine. There's enough music for everyone. :) P.S. I wasn't really ridiculing them, just pointing out that their lyrics are not very profound. As a kid in the '90s, I listened to plenty of techno, and I sometimes still listen to the music I grew up on, for the sake of nostalgia. I generally think that bashing anyone for their musical taste is pretty childish.
I once heard that the nonsensical lyrics are mostly old techno references.. like "respect to the man in the ice cream van" was a shout out to the E dealer
Because the lyrics from all of american music are so great.... they have sold over 30 million records and earned over 80 Gold and Platinum awards. Just because it isn't popular in america, or you don't like it, dosent mean others won't

German music in the 90s and early 2000s was weird but great at the same time. Not just about asking how much a fish costs, but also about beards, riding your bicycle, men being disgusting, abbreviations, not being able to find a parking lot or chain-link fencing...I miss these days xD
The melody in the chorus is a veeery old celtic song that was then covered in Dutch and German by a Dutch band and then Scooter came along. I love all versions honestly 😂
Silly lyrics by German artists have been around as long as 1984 when Modern Talking started. Dieter Bohlen wrote the songs with many sentences that make no sense but at least they rhymed. Then along came Scooter who turned that into a form of art, and never pretended to make any sense at all.
First time I heard it on the radio, I thought how do they get away with the lyrics? But it ended up being quite a popular song on th radio, tv and at parties 😆
the funniest about it, that jimmy fallon makes a joke about americans themselves in the end, not to know. The phrase "how much is the fish" is from a british punk band , hp baxxter took for his song. the reason of this phrase was, that american tourists usually put stupid questions when they had visited great britain. ;-)
Basically Jimmy's whole routine is just him trying to shoehorn Scooter into a formulaic comedy routine and failing miserably, which is pretty incredible seeing how Scooter is such a low hanging fruit when it gets to comedy; they're a band that plays thumping music whilst their MC yells a bunch of seemingly random sentences over it. Even something as simple as imagining H.P Baxxter doing mundane tasks in the style of his on-stage persona would be funnier than this; just imagining him going to the shop and reading his shopping list loudly to a hardstyle beat " 🎶I NEED SOME CHICKEN, I NEED SOME HAM. I NEED SOME BAKED BEANS, I NEED SOME SPAM!🎶 "
