Meditation is good but you don't need to pay the big bucks for a supposed 'personal mantra' to use. Just make up a two syllable fake word that works for you or google the subject. Bingo. Instant TM. 20 minutes, or whatever you can manage, twice a day. There, I fixed it for you.

"TM course" "a lot of money for a student" Are you shamelessly promoting a money making racket.. WHY??? should it cost so much MONEY to be TAUGHT how to meditate????

I have been practicing TM regularly since 1972. If I knew the benefits that would accrue..I'd pay a great deal to learn it and have access to their trained teachers over the years.

I'm a long term TM practitioner (Instructed by a disciple of Maharishi - Jerry Jarvis in 1967). But I have sympathy for those not wishing to pay any $$ at all and want something for free. No problem! Just access "Mahamritunjaya Mantra - Sacred Sounds Choir", and "Om Namah Shivaya - Shivananda Adi". Listen to each for 5 min per day for at least two weeks. You'll be able to "Transcend" (experience Sat-Chit-Ananda or Truth-Consciousness-Bliss), in a short period of practice. Initially may be a split second in the nondual Transcendental state and you'll recognize it when it happens. Then one's immersion in the innate Self (the Ground of pure Consciousness), lengthens in time - 5 min, 30 min, etc...until it's 24 hours a day, with more practice..

I took on TM in 1989 I meditate 20 minutes twice A-day everyday. There were a couple of periods for about 2 or 3 months in the 1990s where I didn't do it but that's the only time I didn't do it. It has been the most important practice that I've been doing in my life.😀 Some people who take it up don't continue it. I think it's because they just don't want it enough. If you want it enough you will do it and it will be a wonderful thing for you.

Amazing. What are the biggest changes you have got from it and how is your life/personality different to the average person?

I learned TM in the early 80s. I think it cost me £25 (student rate) for each of the sessions.
I abandoned it after a few years, but have dipped in and out over the years and also tried other methods, notably Dr Benson's "Relaxation Response." I've recently started T.M. again, but I gather it's vastly more expensive? If what I hear is true then it would be well outside of my ability to pay these days!

Make up your own two syllable mantra and tell these shysters to shove off. Yeah I made the mistake of paying for the course decades ago. I didn't like the mantra they gave me back then. I made up a new one. I am also into self-hypnosis.

I've been doing TM twice a day everyday since 1976 now that I'm retired I do it three times a day. The thing is don't expect that you're going to not be greedy because you do TM. You got to work on that when you get up after you're done meditating. The evidence is clear. When you're selling TM for $1,000 Plus that's not about Bliss or elightenment , certainly not compassion , that's about somebody's big greed. In the center of the TM movement understands this and faces this reality more people will be willing to learn how to do transcendental meditation. If you can't afford it just simply practice anapanasati as Buddha . Tune in to Buddhist ethics and moral ideas too. You don't find people learning different methods of meditation throughout Buddhist sanghas and Dharma centers where they're paying anything to learn how to meditate.

See my comments. Like the air, meditating is free. Don't pay these goofs a dime.

TM is free. It's in you already. If you have to pay for it, it isn't TM it's BS.
There are different types of "Enlightened" people. The ones who use their "Third eye / The Secret / Universal Law, Whatever other name that tickles your fancy" to enrich themselves with money and material possessions by scamming the rich.
And then there are those who are ready for Nirvana.
I'm hoping for a reunion with Courtney Love as lead guitar and singer.
TM does really benefit those who are rich already. They are the ones who need it the most because they can't let go, and perhaps they don't respect things that are free. They have to pay $2000.
You? You get to do it for free on your spiritual journey.

I've been practicing TM since 1975. If you knew it's benefits, price would not be a factor.
    The deep rest is incredible.

I agree. Just learned it officially with an instructor in 2019. I would point out to folks who like me are well poor in monetary currency that most TM instructors will work with you to get you a grant and a reduced fee. I only payed $220.00 U.S. and was able to even pay part of that over time.

Here let me spill the beans. TM is about silently repeating a two syllable mantra they give you to corral your wandering thoughts. Don't pay a dime. Make up your own two syllable mantra and have at it -- 20 minutes, twice a day. Five cents please.
