So it is a very powerful meditation… That is not a deception, Look at the studies on TM and meditation in general and they increase overall well-being and support health. So, always someone wanting to destroy what can be a great benefit, You must be a Christian, right?
No guru, No method, No religion. TM has changed my life using the basic yet efficient and powerful mantra OM. I would never pay any money for a free gift available to all. I am grateful to all of the teachers in my life....most of whom are dead now and we've never met. My two cents worth 👍✌️
every "free" gift available was taught by someone to someone else or made some form of payment/barter/commitment in return for being taught. I can eat at a soup kitchen, restaurant or cook at home, the exact same meal will not be the same at all of these. I have issues with the fee's involved with many modalities, that's separate to respecting the time and effort of someone providing a service and not being an entitled hipster jerk
If you pay a lot of money for something it has more personal value than if its free. I took this course in 1980 and still meditate today. Your can make your own mantra and practice for free, If it works for you do it. Over hyped and over priced today. Meditation is like prayer you can't trade mark prayer but they trademarked TM. Good luck.
I'd like to gently challenge that proposition, but first I'd like to preemptively clarify: I'm not implying you're associated with the organization in some nefarious way or are aligned with their profit motive, or anything like that. So anyway, I understand where you're coming from, but that sounds like justification for profiting from something that many consider sacred and could, to the contrary, lead some to question the veracity of the organization's motives and, therefore, the practice itself. While some might value something more and stick to it longer than they would otherwise because they paid for it, especially something as non-tangible as meditation, others might get a sort of scam or Scientology vibe. I feel like I have enough impartial information on TM to know it's not bullshit or a cult, so I'm not really questioning that, but mixing a profit motive with such things creates a class-disparity that, in my opinion, is unethical, antithetical, and therefore counterproductive to the sort of mental state I believe it genuinely wishes to cultivate. I understand profiting to some degree to pay for an organization's expenses or an author, like maybe Ram Dass for example, profiting from his/her books and charging admission to his/her talks as a source of income (not everyone needs to be a non-profit or live in complete austerity), but TM seems to be charging so much that those at the top of the hierarchical structure are getting rich on the backs of those seeking spiritual development.
it is over hyped, and over priced. But that is not the issue. What is scandalous is the way they have trademarked the practice to retain the monopoly on this ancient mantra based meditation. I will make a new video on this subject very soon
@@raphaelreiter I realise you are just a customer of this course but I am truly shocked, I have only just started looking into this and your video is the first time I have seen talk of costs, people talk of big pharma making huge profits on the back of peoples suffering and seeing the cost of this I see no difference, heck before seeing the cost I was thinking for 4 or 5 hours $300 would be too much for me but damn talk about profiteering, I am quite disappointed seeing this, if something like this comes along that truly benefits mankind like this has the potential for then you would hope that the people involved would see this as something everyone should have available and not just the well off. Crazy
@@coastwatcher6849 I have to disagree here. Whilst I don’t like their way of doing things, they are a business and they are allowed to charge whatever they want. I am a meditation teacher and I charge per hour. I have a course that I also sell. Now I do try to make it more affordable but that is my choice. At the end of the day I have bills to pay and comfort and security to provide for my family. It is wrong to think that because it benefits humanity it should be free, or nearly so. It’s the same thing for musicians and artists. Passion is one thing, generosity is another, but in any case, we don’t live in a society where you would not pay your phone bill by offering beauty or enlightenment in return. What is wrong and evil is, as I have mentioned before, that they have found a way to trademark a practice that is thousands of years old, that doesn’t belong to them, so that they maintain the monopoly of the practice that they charge for around 1k$.
So many people who have done this course refuse to share any of their "secrets" which makes it sound like a cult, or maybe that they're embarrassed about paying so much. I appreciate you outlining the course.
The big concern is. the mantra. If you receive the wrong mantra it not only will be less effective for you it can also be harmful. It's not about a secret. It's about respect and honouring a special tradition. If you want to invest in your health, like anything such as education or exercise, the money is wells spent.
Thank you for your explanation which demystifies the TM program. The sales tactics they use almost turned my interest away. Although, I believe individuals with honed skills can and should be able to make a living. I am grateful I found you and look forward to learning with you. 🙏
Do any of you who practice mantra meditation, TM or other, find your mantra popping into you thoughts at times other than when you are practicing meditation? Mine does. Thanks
My father said I was cooler before doing TM, but he was a unemployable raging alcoholic. He lost his license and died at 55.............."so who's crazy now?"
I had my ceremony yesterday. Once I received my mantra and was walked through the technique, it was like I fell right into it. I love it and have no regrets paying for it, though I understand it’s a lot of money for others. I did see that they offer a sliding scale and I’m wondering if that might benefit those who would not otherwise afford it. I’m not quite on the other side of my full introduction but I can see already what a benefit this would be for anyone open to it. My instructor told me something too that stuck with me - aside from personal growth and healing, if just 1% of a community mediates, it affects the rest of the community in a positive way. I want to understand that better. I don’t mind being fluent in wu-wu 😉😆
I highly suggest you watch the documentary "David wants to fly" - it shows you exactly what the TM org have done with that subject of saving the world with people meditating. I felt the same as you when I did my course.
@@raphaelreiter just finished it. Thank you for that recommendation. Very eye opening…disheartening, but I’d rather learn an ugly truth than believe a pretty lie.
I would like to share my own experience about TM which I have discovered 2 years ago. First and foremost, TM saved my life from anxiety. Second : about the price I must say : it's damn expensive. Third : is it worth to pay that price ? Well the answer is "balanced" for me. To keep it simple : if you want to learn to ski at 50 years, and you know you don't have all your life, and your body is not in the best shape (translation: you are 50 and carrying over anxiety for years) you have 3 choices : 1. learn by your own (good luck) 2. Learn in a group 3. Learn with a personal dedicated coach (like TM) For sure option 3 is the most expensive, but also the more effective statistically speaking... : I can definitely testify that the coach made a huge difference, learning me patience and technique to very quickly get into profound relaxation. So should you pay ? It all depends on your personal capabilities to learn by your own, your priorities and the urgency to get better with meditation. And also don't forget the psycho analysis principle of Freud: if you pay for something, if something costs you, you will expect a result, you make that thing worth just by having paid for it. And, as a consequence, the chance that it will work increases significantly.
Its a pity that the knowledge of our ancient ancestors is now something you have to pay for... its just super sad. doing good and the right thing is the best and enough gratitude. to all TM hipocrite teachers FU ;)
Did you actually bring up the Freudian principle to justify the purchase? That’s lame. If you are aware of the principle and you have basic self awareness of your ego then you can discern past such silly biases. It’s like knowing you are getting a placebo pill and still saying it works.
Jesus and all the Mystics and Saints of the last 2,000 years have had the same message; Empty your mind of everything you think you think and think you know. Quieting the mind takes practice🕉 Because our minds are connected what I do for myself I do for a brother Thank you Raphael for the dedication you show. Let us insist on nothing and give thanks for everything 🦋🌻
Thank you for sharing your experience .. sooo helpful .. I took the course a few months ago ... had questions and never really felt satisfied with the answers. In these 25 min of your honesty of experience they were answered . I too have questioned that if they truly want this to go viral world wide for the good of human kind why would they put such a price tag on it.. I do meditate 1-2 x a day, instructions are for 2x am/pm for 20 min. But until your video and clarification of my sound ( which I did look up- it was one sound not 3 separate as I heard it given) I was feeling frustrated .... thank you , I will be listening to you more
Hi! Very useful video.I just had my first session today.I did struggle to calm my mind but eventually it got easier. In the center near me they did offer a sliding scale for fees based on income and they have monthly payments too.My teenager is also learning it and I hope it will benefit her too! I echo your thoughts on feeling tired, I wanted to just lay down half way through!
If you are struggle to Calm your mind. Just repeat a Sound over and over again to let you mind focus on that. No need to waste money on TM. There are alot open and free TM 101 course here on YT. But i just gave you the TM secret.
On the point of money. The top rate in the US for learning TM is $1000 BUT there are many lower rates offered so that almost everyone can learn. There are all instalment payment schemes to help segment the fee. This is true in every country TM is taught in. Only mentioning the top rate is a ploy to put you off!
You do not need to pay for this. Make up a word, think about that word for 20 minutes, twice per day and do it like your future depends on it becuase it does. the purpose of spending money on TM is only for people without the will power to be consistent.
Raphael, thank you! Invaluable information. My question is, do you ever get caught up in synchronising your breath with mentally reciting the mantra? Because it's what comes naturally to me and I am not sure it is the right thing to do! I hope the question makes sense. Thank you 🙏
during covid they had to do it remote and their whole business model was based on the "fact" that you couldnt do that so i suspect they found themselves trapped in their own stories. my opinion of course
hey! I have a question. Is it possible to learn the ways (i mean, the techniques) of trascendental meditation without doing the course? Or at least, learn some other way of meditation with similar results? I definitely can't afford it, but I am really interested in it. Thanks!
learned TM in 1972, and have practiced the technique very regularly since then for one and only one reason....it works. That is, I experienced a progressive growth of mind, emotional well being and effectiveness in activity and inner happiness. The interesting thing about the happiness, is that it is less and less dependent on what happens outside myself...the circumstances that occur every day. Negativity has less and less ability to overshadow this growing inner happiness. It's not that I'm not motivated to deal with things, it's just that I'm able to maintain a positive inner feeling in the face of stressors, which actually allows me to be more effective in activity. I recommend that, if you want to learn, go to www.tm.org and get reliable information and where to find a trained, responsible teacher. Pay the fee (which, nowadays, comes with a money back guarantee, as long as you complete the recommended training schedule)...the amount is marginal relative to the benefits you will derive from regular, correct practice. Good luck.
That’s great Leonardo, thanks for your messages. I hope you will join our 31 days challenge. It’s on this channel and its completely free. Feel free to start with Day one, and practice the meditations 2 times daily if you can, once in the morning and once in the evening, preferably before diner and not too close to bed time. I’ll see you there!
I actually find the cost of the TM training immoral. I understand that people have to make living but the price is far too high. But what is more important they are selling something which is not theirs. This technique is thousands years old, they didn't invent it and it takes a very short time and effort to teach. It is just not right to charge so much for something which could improve so many people's lives. Most people just can't afford it and that is wrong. It is like Buddhist monks would charge you for the dharma. Not right.
It's 1 day instruction and 3 days follow up sessions, the course is assigning a teacher you have access to for life to do follow revisions is you feel you are forgetting or need to refresh, along with being able to join group meditations at any TM centre worldwide As for people learning for free articles etc, try speaking with my accent from reading this comment, not comparing accent to mantra just the one on one is completely different to watching a video or reading instructions
Twenty years ago I did a TM course.... U are soo right sooo expensive... why??? You teach it and it works just the same.. just focus on the music or mantra ...end of!!!! Practice practice practice and you’ll get there... to that lovely state of being!! Thank you your brilliant 🙏
No. Friends, don’t pay for something you don’t need. Sit down, repeat a sentence over and over, and god with grant you a mantra absent the influence of a guru, and for the rest of your life you may use this mantra to access full consciousness and transcendence. The most important part is the mantra should be meaningless, feel good vibrationally, and kept secret. This is inconvenient for the salesman, but it truly is that simple. Don’t spend more than the average weekly salary of an individual on a course. With love, my friends. A person who monetizes TM is a person of contradiction.
I'm still making up my mind to do it or not. This video was useful. I don't doubt the TM technique is useful, as are other forms of meditation...but there were a few potential red flags about it. They say you don't have to believe in any system that it's not a religion...but then I find out it's linked to some Indian guru and that I should bring along all this weird stuff to the first session e.g fruit, handkerchief etc. Also the cost. All the Hollywood endorsement has me sceptical aswell...makes me recall Scientology.
It is not just the intro ceremony that is religious. The mantras are a set of hindu deities. TM is definitely religious. I didn't know that in the past, because they make it so secret. Precisely because of its religious nature, TM has been banned from many schools in the USA, most recently in Chicago, and thanks to the courts, we were able to get a more clear idea of what the ceremony was about, as well as some translations of mantras.
@@raphaelreiter Thanks mate. It's good to know these things up front. If they'd just been honest that there are some links to whatever religion it is (Hinduism?.) I could have accepted that, but if people lie about things or misrepresent...then they do it for other things. Hmm..
Mmh. Still. It’s an organisation that will make you believe it is unique and secular and it’s not. Also the mantra is not personal which is ok if they didn’t so aggressively lie about it. I’m glad I’m as far away from that organisation as possible
You’re very welcome :-) Well you do get something talking to a teacher 1 on 1... I try to distance myself from tm. I don’t even practice it anymore as I prefer other kinds of meditations that don’t involve me belonging to an elitist group of people.
@@raphaelreiter Totally agree. Any organisation who selfishly takes an ancient art and puts a high monetary spin of it should be ashamed of themselves. What you do is humbling, thank you for sharing. Bless you
I'm confused about all this cynical talk in regards to TM And how expensive it is. The foundation that has been established has been giving law enforcement, students and people of domestic violence the opportunity to learn this for no cost. There's also a sliding scale that will determine how much the course fee is dependent upon your income. What am I missing with the negativity against the cost of learning this?
Yes. The best for me is actually using sounds. Did you try my guided meditation for transcendence ? There you get a deep sound. Lots of my students have great results with this
What does it cost you to share a mantra? You've somehow been conditioned that you shouldn't. It seems so petty and I suspect it has to do with the TM business model. I meditate and suspect I get greater benefit from it going totally my own way than finding an organisation and "guru" to empty my pockets. I don't wish to be a fool and will not give them the benefit of the doubt. There is no doubt.
I really dont care about telling my mantra. I agree that the whole thing is a scam. Secrecy, mystery and exclusivety is their business model. I will do more in deapth videos on the TM organisation soon.
Thank you for this, Raphael. I've been in a bit of a bad place lately, only partially because of struggling financially. I know I need something to help me out of this and I looked into learning meditation. The first thing I found was the cost for the course with the TM group. It was very disheartening. I can't tell you how happy I was to then find your videos. I think I've found the help I needed. Thank you, friend.
Hi Raphael, was pleasantly surprised by your guided meditation. Thank you🥰 You mention the thoughts that come into your head while meditating, what do you do with them?
There is a saying - "knowing the cost of everything and the value of nothing". How do you put a value on something: a $1000 holiday; twenty $30 meals in a restaurant; a new phone; some dental repair work? After over 50 years of practice, I think the value of TM has proved itself. Back in the day, the course fee was a weeks salary. Within two months I had a job paying me twice what I had been earning when I learned. The results had paid for the course. I got a better job because I was thinking more clearly and had more energy. Most people who learn don't keep up the practice, so they don't appreciate the value. It can be a lifelong habit, or a passing whim. You get to decide.
@@raphaelreiter You still get to decide. You can take the course, establish the practice as part of your daily routine and accumulate the benefits. There's nothing wrong with a business model that has a scale of fees according to income and ability to pay. There's nothing wrong with a business model that pays a proportion of the fee to the teacher for their time. There's nothing wrong with spending a proportion of each fee on marketing and there's nothing wrong with allocating a proportion of each fee to help establish TM in countries where incomes are very low. I'm not sure what you mean by monopoly. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of Transcendental Meditation has trained teachers to teach the technique very precisely. These teacher keep their traing up to date via Maharishi's organisation, and this makes then certified teacher in the same way that someone who has received medical training is certified to be a practicing physician. This gives the student confidence that they are going to be taught properlly, without additions or subtraction from the original method. If that's a monopoly. it's a benevolent monopoly. It ensures that you always get what you pay for and that the technique delivers what it is supposed to. There are plenty of pretenders, copyists and cowboys cashing in on TM's reputation for efficacy and the 50 years of scientific reseach into the effects. Maharishi began as an individual teacher and his life's work was to establish an organisation that woul represent the knowledge well and thus ensure it's purity through time.
You come across decent guy. Thank you for sharing . It’s not TM but the organisations and Tm teachers seems cult and scam to me. Also those well off celebrities and business men who’s preaching TM seems selfish by not being vocal about their views on the cost of the course. Why is so expensive the course? it’s wrong!
Spiritual teachers and meditation teachers also have pills to pay, food to put on the table and families to provide for. We are not on a desert island or on a cave on top of the Himalayas. I am guessing you are also paid for your work? What about artists? Should they also starve?
Great video mate ..! I wish the world had more people like you who are not affiliated with anyone , doesn’t try to pitch anything , just get on UA-cam and share their own experiences and opinions bringing tremendous value to complete strangers ..! My hats off to you my man ..! 🎩 🎩
I AGREE! I had some local guy contact me when I inquired about TM but then I realized what a great scam it all is, you will eventually give them thousands when you can just do it all yourself. It's sort of like what Tom Cruise is into, no thanks.
At first I felt my hands disappear. Coming days and months I noticed a difference but it was like I was dulled down. I also had an experience of attracting birds. I mean they literally surrounded me in my garden and got very close and I felt a communion with them. That was just one time and it was beautiful but in general I had an empty, lonely feeling. It was like I was in a different plane of existence but I was by myself. I wasn’t reacting in the same ways which was good but it also made me feel disconnected to the people in my life. Slowly I did it less and now years later when I do it I simply feel nothing. It doesn’t hurt but it doesn’t help either. I try to just focus on the third eye from now on.
So weird! I tried the AUM mantra for the first time last week. It was my first attempt at mantra meditation. Half way through a pigeon slammed into my window. It made me jump!!! lol
I went to the pre talk. I am a zen guy. I did my own mantra meditation , lol. I hated it. It felt like going into a cave. I felt spacey and disoriented. Shikantaza is paying to attention to the whole moment. I get to the ssame stillness that TM does, but I am embedded in the moment without shutting myself from half of my experience. I didn’t like feeling spacey and disoriented.

I think my issue is that I DO THINK ABOUT THE MANTRA.... I repeat my mantra, I over analyze it even though it's meaningless. If I am not thinking about the mantra, I am repeating it and it's coordinated it with my breathing. So I try to stop coordinating it. I literally, just repeat the mantra the entire time for 20 minutes, that's it...
Tm is not special. Just Learn any meditation you can for free and the only thing TM adds to any meditation is telling you a Word or Sound without mening to you. Then tells you to repeat it over and over in your mind. This gives the mind something to focus on so its importent its a no meaning words or Sound. After about 5 minuttes of repeating this your mind Will slowly let it go. So your left with i calm mind in deep State.
Hi Joe, both meditations have great benefits. It then comes to personal preference. sometimes I practice vibrational meditation, as I have distanced myself as much as possible from tm over the last months, and sometimes I practice mindfulness, or just breathing meditation. I have posted a mindfulness meditation on this channel, I would like to have your opinion on it: ua-cam.com/video/PiTXJxPJvbA/v-deo.html&pbjreload=10
Raphael Reiter hey! Thank you sooo much for your videos! I just discovered your channel today after learning about TM yesterday from a woman selling her course. I didnt want to pay for it since i tried a lot of times to meditate and it was hard for me. But regarding TM, she said it is the easiest yet powerful meditation technique... i just did your guided 23 minutes meditation with the deep sound. Is that TM meditation? Or I need an specific mantra from a instructor? And why you distanced yourself from TM??
@@azulkobi9219 He is distancing himself from it because it is a dubious marketing swindly course. meditate focusing in your breathing . That's all . But be focused and consistent, doing it daily make it a lifestyle.
Hello Raphael, thank you for this realy great video!!! Its almost impossible to get any informations about TM without joining one of those incredible expensive courses! I would be very happy if you would answer the following questions: while you think of the mantra and have your eyes closed, do you "see" the written word infront of your closed eyes? And is it important to repeat it in a certain speed🤔 thank you🙏
You guys are aware that he pretty much tells you what you need to do just prior to starting a meditation without having to pay! If you cant afford the course, try to find the most quiet and subtle noise within the frequency and basically let your brain space out on it. Hence, "focus on the frequency and if you stop focusing, notice it and go back to that frequency". My assumption would be the samething when using the mantra, the mantra is to become a mindless thing.... like the frequency. Find thee lowest frequency and just listen! Its mindless and let your brain essentially space out on the noise! personally, i dont agree with having to pay a small fortune to access what we all have within us to do! It should just be freely shared!

Thank you for this video Raphael! Could you please do a video about the techniques you learned to bring your thoughts back to the meditation or at least back from total ridiculous distraction. Thank you much!
hi Rafael ! thank you very much for this video and for the valuable information. I started TM two weeks ago, I didn't take the course but tried to learn on my own. I chose my mantra by looking at a list of mantras available on the internet. I am having excellent results even without having taken the course but at the same time I would like to have the certainty on the part of a teacher that I am doing the meditation in the right way. Maybe in the future when I have the money I will take the course. I just wanted to ask you for information. I have noticed that during meditation I realize that I am entering a state of mind that is different from normal. I feel good, this feeling lasts a few seconds or minutes and I can't keep it for 20 minutes. Did they explain to you during your course if there are any techniques to maintain a more focused state of mind and have a deeper meditation?
TM Crap. You can find a mantra if you are looking for Mantra Yoga. I love that SO HAM; I am He (brahman). When you inhale you repeat So Ham and when you exhale you repeat Ham So. What matters is that you need a way of pronouncing (vibrating) that suits you in yourself of course. As you start the exercise it can be faster and stronger and over time it becomes softer and quieter further away until it is lost. Everyone must find those shades for themselves. Piece of cake. You are the best teacher for yourself.
I have done a lot of other meditations over the past 20 years and am not sure if the TM course is worth it and will offer anything I haven't tried yet.
Centauri Dont pay for TM if you know meditation styles already. The TM is just a meditation while saying a Word or Sound like ba shi lar or Sho bu ohm. It For people who dont have the skill to get to deep meditation by Them self.
@@mrmagic7485 No, it's a specific Vedic technique that emerged from a sage who spent literally decades in the forest developing into a level of enlightenment where he could revive this ancient knowledge. Maharishi brought it to the West. It is taught thru a non-profit organization. You are paying for the delivery system, like you pay a water bill. If it didn't cost something it wouldn't be here. Many people learn it free. PTSD soldiers, inner-city kids, third world, etc. And the idea you can say some words and have the same thing is, sorry, completely, utterly wrong.
S. Burns that is a Nice story. It is Simular to how all other meditations came to life and the benefits of meditation. But TM is the only meditation style that come with a ridiculous over the top high Price tag. As an certified meditation instructor i can tell you that there is nothing special about TM that you will not learn in any other meditation style for a fraction of the cost.
I did the "official course" and paid $200 for 10 sessions of 1-2 hours, one-on-one with a teacher. I'm based in Manila, so perhaps they adjust their price to the country where you live. The course itself was a mixed bag - I liked my teacher, I definitely liked the technical aspects of the training and it has benefitted me for the past 10 years. What I did not like at all, was the cult of personality around the Maharishi Yogi - for that reason, I never attended any group sessions after the first invitation. So while I'm super grateful for having learned the technique, I find the corporate and communal aspect of TM off-putting. So from my perspective, initiatives like yours are super welcome to introduce more people to the technique, I think ... Thanks a lot!
There are some ppl giving this technique for free on youtube, fortunately, I took a course on TM many years ago for £90 GBP this technique should be free but no, they want to rip ppl off at £2000 a pop, regarding the Mantra any can be used around 4 syllables is best I have worked in the spiritual business for 30 years as an event promoter therapist and trainer I am happy to advise for free
It‘s a waste of money. The technique is just: chose any word with no meaning for you (or chose one of their mantra list) and chant it very slowly for 20 minutes, twice a day. You may concentrate on the chakra on top of your head or between and behind your eyebrows and feel the mantra vibrations. That‘s it.
Wael Aoudi just do i image search on google and you Will find Them. But where is a link s3.amazonaws.com/telemind/transcendental-meditation-mantra-list.html But the best thing you can do is make you own mantra. Could you share what you do? Do you sit and repeat an OM mantra, do you focus on breath or anything else?
@@MURPHxiiiI second this!
every "free" gift available was taught by someone to someone else or made some form of payment/barter/commitment in return for being taught.
Hi can you share your whatsApp and mail id
it is over hyped, and over priced.
I appreciate you outlining the course.
true!
@@raphaelreiter If you saw TM levitation, then you'd be embarrassed too.
If you reveal your secret TM mantra , you're harming yourself
maybe they are maintaining the spirit of allowing others to experience it the same way you did.
The big concern is. the mantra. If you receive the wrong mantra it not only will be less effective for you it can also be harmful. It's not about a secret. It's about respect and honouring a special tradition. If you want to invest in your health, like anything such as education or exercise, the money is wells spent.
You practiced meditating for 5 minutes and began wondering if you will achieve transcendence ? SERIOUSLY?
❤
Thank you for your explanation which demystifies the TM program. The sales tactics they use almost turned my interest away. Although, I believe individuals with honed skills can and should be able to make a living. I am grateful I found you and look forward to learning with you. 🙏
Glad it was helpful!
Do any of you who practice mantra meditation, TM or other, find your mantra popping into you thoughts at times other than when you are practicing meditation? Mine does. Thanks
yes it does happen, especially in the first months of practice
My father said I was cooler before doing TM, but he was a unemployable raging alcoholic. He lost his license and died at 55.............."so who's crazy now?"
I guess we are all a bit crazy :)
@@raphaelreiter >>> Nam-myoho-renge-kyo
This was great, thank you. It was great to hear more about TM and also how you connect NLP to it as well. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I would like to share my own experience about TM which I have discovered 2 years ago. First and foremost, TM saved my life from anxiety. Second : about the price I must say : it's damn expensive. Third : is it worth to pay that price ? Well the answer is "balanced" for me. To keep it simple : if you want to learn to ski at 50 years, and you know you don't have all your life, and your body is not in the best shape (translation: you are 50 and carrying over anxiety for years) you have 3 choices :
1. learn by your own (good luck)
2. Learn in a group
3. Learn with a personal dedicated coach (like TM)
For sure option 3 is the most expensive, but also the more effective statistically speaking...
@@sikalafoikigai1314 I agree with you
Did you actually bring up the Freudian principle to justify the purchase? That’s lame. If you are aware of the principle and you have basic self awareness of your ego then you can discern past such silly biases. It’s like knowing you are getting a placebo pill and still saying it works.
@@theworkethic indeed it works... thank you Freud. For me only the result counts.. and I can tell you without lying : TM has changed my life

But until your video and clarification of my sound ( which I did look up- it was one sound not 3 separate as I heard it given) I was feeling frustrated .... thank you , I will be listening to you more
:)
What do you mean by it was not three seperate?
Cool ! :)
If you are struggle to Calm your mind. Just repeat a Sound over and over again to let you mind focus on that. No need to waste money on TM. There are alot open and free TM 101 course here on YT. But i just gave you the TM secret.
Wow! Pretty soon they'll have you jumping on cushions believing that you're flying!
On the point of money. The top rate in the US for learning TM is $1000 BUT there are many lower rates offered so that almost everyone can learn. There are all instalment payment schemes to help segment the fee. This is true in every country TM is taught in. Only mentioning the top rate is a ploy to put you off!
That is not totally true Ged, I have had different experiences
@@raphaelreiter Where do you live? Check their rates! I bet you you are not asked to pay $1000.
don't ever pay for meditation techniques like transcendental meditation. You can learn it yourself for free.
its true
You do not need to pay for this. Make up a word, think about that word for 20 minutes, twice per day and do it like your future depends on it becuase it does.
the purpose of spending money on TM is only for people without the will power to be consistent.
❤
Raphael, thank you! Invaluable information. My question is, do you ever get caught up in synchronising your breath with mentally reciting the mantra? Because it's what comes naturally to me and I am not sure it is the right thing to do! I hope the question makes sense. Thank you 🙏
Sometimes. But that’s ok.
I was surprised to learn recently that the TM organisation have lower rates available for their 3-day course depending on income...
during covid they had to do it remote and their whole business model was based on the "fact" that you couldnt do that so i suspect they found themselves trapped in their own stories. my opinion of course
hey! I have a question. Is it possible to learn the ways (i mean, the techniques) of trascendental meditation without doing the course? Or at least, learn some other way of meditation with similar results? I definitely can't afford it, but I am really interested in it. Thanks!
Yes. This is the main purpose of this UA-cam channel 😊🙃
@@raphaelreiter Thank You
learned TM in 1972, and have practiced the technique very regularly since then for one and only one reason....it works. Good luck.
@@transcender5974 we are watching this video because we don’t want to do what you say, but thanks, hehe.
Yes. Read/watch Krishnamurti
Thank You. I had questions about TM after watching one of your other videos where you play a sound and you answered them for me in this video.
Not right.
The price is not the problem for me. It’s their monopoly attitude
I appreciate you so much! I've been wondering if this is something I can learn on my own and just like magic there you were ❤
❤❤
It's 1 day instruction and 3 days follow up sessions, the course is assigning a teacher you have access to for life to do follow revisions is you feel you are forgetting or need to refresh, along with being able to join group meditations at any TM centre worldwide
As for people learning for free articles etc, try speaking with my accent from reading this comment, not comparing accent to mantra just the one on one is completely different to watching a video or reading instructions

Twenty years ago I did a TM course.... U are soo right sooo expensive... why??? You teach it and it works just the same.. just focus on the music or mantra ...end of!!!! Practice practice practice and you’ll get there... to that lovely state of being!! Thank you your brilliant 🙏
:)
I did the course about 10 years ago. For me, it was well worth it. I still go back periodically for 'fine tuning' every few years.
:)
👍🏻
Hmm..
Thank you. I wish more people would be honest as you. It does not have to be crypti and vague as it is made to be. .
❤️
I guess the price went down because my course was only $540 which I could split up over 4 months with no interest. Doesn’t seem outrageous to me.
Mmh. Still. It’s an organisation that will make you believe it is unique and secular and it’s not. Also the mantra is not personal which is ok if they didn’t so aggressively lie about it. I’m glad I’m as far away from that organisation as possible
To do TM do we need to have mantra/word? Is it still TM if there is no mantra?
TM is a brand.
Thanks Raphael for your detailed narrative. If you can do this video you can teach. Actually! you are a teacher.😊
Thanks! 😃
Thank you Raphael 🙏
I just wonder why should I do the course when I can find all the information about the technique online?
Veterans, too, are free.
Have you tried experimenting with using the other TM mantras and did you notice any effects?
If I have to explain why it should be free, you wouldn’t understand.
❤️
Thank you for this, Raphael. I've been in a bit of a bad place lately, only partially because of struggling financially. I know I need something to help me out of this and I looked into learning meditation. The first thing I found was the cost for the course with the TM group. It was very disheartening. I can't tell you how happy I was to then find your videos. I think I've found the help I needed. Thank you, friend.
You’re welcome :)
Hi Raphael, was pleasantly surprised by your guided meditation. Thank you🥰 You mention the thoughts that come into your head while meditating, what do you do with them?
nothing. realize that they don't define you, and go back to the vibration
You get to decide.
its not about the price, its about the business model, the monopoly, and the lies.
@@bryanirving2422very well said! I couldn’t have said it any better!
You come across decent guy. Thank you for sharing . It’s not TM but the organisations and Tm teachers seems cult and scam to me. Also those well off celebrities and business men who’s preaching TM seems selfish by not being vocal about their views on the cost of the course. Why is so expensive the course? it’s wrong!
thanks!
Are you able to reach deep meditative state with this?

True masters do not charge a penny from spiritual seekers, because they are above the exploitation of their followers.
Spiritual teachers and meditation teachers also have pills to pay, food to put on the table and families to provide for. We are not on a desert island or on a cave on top of the Himalayas. I am guessing you are also paid for your work? What about artists? Should they also starve?

Yup

I think my issue is that I DO THINK ABOUT THE MANTRA.... I repeat my mantra, I over analyze it even though it's meaningless. If I am not thinking about the mantra, I am repeating it and it's coordinated it with my breathing. So I try to stop coordinating it. I literally, just repeat the mantra the entire time for 20 minutes, that's it...
talk to your teacher about it. he/she will have advice :)
I have done TM....but then i feel i was not going any deeper....stop it.....still acknowledge its power...maybe one day i return to it....

Hi, do you coordinate the in breath and out breath with the mantra?
nope
Have you ever practiced mindful meditation? If so, how would you say that it compares with TM?
Hi Joe, both meditations have great benefits. It then comes to personal preference. sometimes I practice vibrational meditation, as I have distanced myself as much as possible from tm over the last months, and sometimes I practice mindfulness, or just breathing meditation. And is it important to repeat it in a certain speed🤔 thank you🙏
No
Thank you for this video 🤗✨hug love and peace to you my friend
🤗🤗
It should just be freely shared!

hi Rafael ! thank you very much for this video and for the valuable information.
No. This IS normal ❤️
I paid over thousand dollars for TM with a certified teacher. However I have received no instructions like what you said.
that's sad... I hope the meditations on this channel can help you?
That’s your opinion
Trade-marked by businessmen.
yup
I have done a lot of other meditations over the past 20 years and am not sure if the TM course is worth it and will offer anything I haven't tried yet.
If you can afford it you might give it a try. But if you can’t afford it, there are so many free meditation techniques that are just as good :)

Is because someone teaching you with their time.
:)
There are some ppl giving this technique for free on youtube, fortunately, I took a course on TM many years ago for £90 GBP this technique should be free but no, they want to rip ppl off at £2000 a pop, regarding the Mantra any can be used around 4 syllables is best I have worked in the spiritual business for 30 years as an event promoter therapist and trainer I am happy to advise for free
yes. I tried and nearly got sued. They are a big business brand, not a meditation platform..
That‘s it.
You sound very sure of yourself. Have you taken the course ? I have, and I can guarantee there is more to it..
Vipassana is free!
👍🏻
Can you please share the link to the site to identify your mantra? Birth year 78
Please
Wael Aoudi just do i image search on google and you Will find Them. But where is a link
s3.amazonaws.com/telemind/transcendental-meditation-mantra-list.html
But the best thing you can do is make you own mantra. It must not have any mening Becaurse the mantra is used to distract the mind from Thinking to help people struggling to calm Down the mind
@@mrmagic7485 cool thanks!
@@annakrajacic7509 your welcome i hope it helps
Good video. Thank you. You are clearly a good soul.
I appreciate that!
You said it's possible to find your own mantra online... could you please direct me to the right source?
They are not mantras that I encourage people of using. How about you try with the words “beautiful flower” or “thank you ”
the technique is: repeat a word with no meaning silently in your head for 20 minutes two times a day. you don't need the course (i did it btw)
basically yes, but they use hindu deities as mantras
Hi there
I'm from Iran
My country is horrifically isolated from the rest of the world , all the social media apps are banned here and we should jump through hoops to get connected to UA-cam
Would you mind helping me with learning TM?
TNX
I can teach you meditation. Write me a message via my site www.Raphaelreiter.com
@@raphaelreiter tnx buddy. I'll reach you there.
People in poor countries get TM FREE. They charge the USA for it
right.... the same prison and the same school in south america for the last 20 years.... i dont believe it. thats my opinion ;)
If I look up the mantra and just start reciting it in my head twice a day for 20 mins while meditating, would that be any different than paying someone to tell me to do this? What extra info could you gain? Thanks.
It’s not just about repeating mantra. There is a lot to learn
@@raphaelreiter What is the a lot to learn that can’t be self learned?
@Mad George > You got it. You don't need a teacher, just go within and feel your inner being and focus on it. You don't need any scammy Course, the mantra can be anything, as a matter of fact if you can focus you don't even need a mantra, just focus on your breath. Don't spend a cent of your money in any marketing scam.
@Denver he did say there is alot to learn.
A friend of mine makes $300,000 a year. One thousand dollars is a lot of money to him.

How can I find out my mantra? Where did you find that info? Is there a website?
I am not affiliated with the tm organisation, and I wish to stay as far as possible from them. If you google it you will find it, but I dont think there's a great benefit to doing so to be honest
@@raphaelreiter OK, thank you so much!
