This is a moving version of this terrific song and Grant Goodeve was a very fine singer . Families back then were really like this in many ways and we need to go back to those days when respect, love, and being good meant something!!!!!
This show was one of the most underrated ever. They tackled issues that others didn't at the time, but still managed to keep a "we love each other even though..." vibe.
WOW! When life was so much more simpler. Lani O'Grady was my favorite in eight is enough. I loved all of them, they were all so Great! It's so sad what happened to Lani and Adam they were taken so young. 😢
My husband once told me that he used to watch "8 Is Enough" and scoff; he thought the family was unrealistic, especially with them performing together & being that close...until he met MY family! Not quite as large - I'm #6 of 7 kids - but I could relate to the TV Bradfords so much. My poor husband has only 2 sisters, and they're not close at all.
it's 2019 and I StiLL LOVE listening to this beautiful song,, this was a wonderful family show and I wish It would be shown again,, I just loved the 70's... Beautifully done by Grant!

One thing is for sure Dick Van Patten played the role of Tom Bradford brilliantly. He will be sorted missed by all who knew and loved him. I still can't believe he's really gone now. To me in my mind and in my eyes he will always be Tom Bradford.

The phrase " there ' s a plate of homemade wishes on the kitchen Windows sill' is so magic: for a moment, It makes me believe my greatest Wish can be fulfilled.
Fast forward to 12/30/2023. We just watched the episode “Who’s on First” for the first time and the episode ends with David’s performance. As many know, the song was adopted as the opening song in seasons 3-5. This truly was a great family show and new shows like this are what this generation is missing out on.
Thank you for posting this. I've been looking for it for a while. I never missed an episode of this when I was growing up. I remember watching this one and being interested that there was more to the song. But that was about it. Today, looking back at the reaction of the family, it actually gave me chills. It takes me right back to our 70's decorated living room.
He also said "more than enough..." at the end of the shorter version they sometimes ran. I believe that version started with just the "Oh we spend our days..." verse. I always hated when they played the shortened one b/c I loved the longer theme.

I surely would like to know the story behind who said "that's our main title music next year", and whether they did it before or after this episode was written and aired... but that person is probably in their 80s now, if they're still alive.
I have watched all season intros on UA-cam & have been wondering which one contains the ending lyrics... "Eight is Enough... *MORE THAN ENOUGH* to fill our lives with love" in the Eight Is Enough opening theme. I know I've heard those precise words/lyrics at the end of one of the opening theme versions on a tv rerun a while back, but am baffled as to which one it was. Anyone able to shed some light on this ongoing mystery?
I believe that in the network run of the show, the song concluded with the repeated last "More than enough to fill our lives with love". The version with the repeated last phrase was probably deleted from the syndicated version of the show so-as to make more room for commercials. I believe that all of the "theme song" videos here on UA-cam are taken from recordings of the Pax TV network syndication and thus are missing that last phrase....
"More than an enough" is the shortened version of the opening credits. The shortened version starts off with "Oh we spend our days like bright and shining new dimes." Instead of "There is a magic in, the early morning we've found."
Elsewhere on UA-cam there is an 11 minute long clip that includes all seven Network themes with video - season 2 was reshot because of Diana Hyland's death, and season 5 reshot because of somebody having a baby - and I just watched it five minutes ago and more than enough does not appear in any of the network aired versions of the theme. At least not any of the ones edited into that clip, and it seems pretty comprehensive to me. I don't know if the show is ever released on DVD to any degree of death, but it's possible they may have redone the show opens for that.
Before the word "unplugged" was even widely used. I wonder if MTV copyrighted the phrase, or if it's "MTV Unplugged", due to "unplugged" alone being too common to copyright.
It actually predates the song being used as the show open theme. This was, I think, the season 2 finale, and the song appeared as the show main title theme in the beginning of season 3.

And eight is enough to fill our lives with love
Oh love makes all the difference now
And one that really shows
Just look at everyone of us
See how it over flows
