There were 2 types of movies that made up the average MST3K episode: 1.| The Good/Bad Movie - movies you could watch on their own and still find funny (a la Space Mutiny) 2.| The Bad/Bad Movie - movies that would be virtually unwatchable without Mike and the Bots (or Joel) The Creeping Terror would definitely be the latter. Really amazing how such a boring movie was turned into one of the top 20 best ever episodes of the show.
According to rumors, a more impressive looking monster was originally designed and built for the movie. However, only a few days before shooting was to begin, the monster was stolen. Pressed for time and out of money, director Vic Savage and his crew hastily threw together the infamous "pile of carpets" monster that appears in the film.

It takes a truly visionary filmmaker to create a horror movie about a space monster whose defining characteristic is its terrifying slowness. Kubrick was clearly influenced by this.
I know Servo joked about this being a turn on for the director, but I honestly think he might be right. There is basically no plot except for the lumbering monster eating people, and the multiple shots of girls' legs sticking out of the monster while almost seeing up her skirt, it honestly seems a bit pervy to me.
One of my favorite bad movie tricks... having a narrator tell the story instead of the actors. I mean, really - they couldn't relate the story through the action and dialog like everyone else?

Especially when there’s barely any dialogue and the main character is a disembodied narrator that describes the movie like he’s reading you a story! “The colonel more concerned with saving human lives than advancing science, told Bradford to “Go to Hell!”
I've watched most of this movie without riffs - yes, voluntarily 😆 And there are so many moments with no dialogue, just goofy music. You truly realize what Mike and the bots add to it.
You know; it could be just me, but doesn't Gypsy here sound a lot like Party Phil from the Nintendo game Wii Party? (you know, with her being voiced by a man and all and speaking in a jarring falsetto)?
THIS.... is one of the worst movies I have ever seen in my life and TV Tropes calls it one of the worst ever made. I have nothing nice to say about this film. The monster is too damn slow to be effective so everyone has no self preservation skills, the scenes with the monster go on and on and on. It's boring, and I hate it. Star Wars "fans" don't know pain. THIS is pain!
