Watching from Australia, just beautiful work, just as it should be, everything done to perfection, we in the trucking game can only dream of mechanics like you, top top job Sir 🤝👍🇺🇸🇭🇲
This is a man I would trust to work on any vehicle I own..Lubricates every bolt, torques everything to spec, measures everything, and replaces with NEW parts...This will be one reliable truck once completed..May cost more up front, but will pay for itself many times over in saved repair bills..
Yea, EZrider, you are an old school mechanic/enginer. That's how it was back in the day at Interstate Diesel CT. One of the first Glider shops. early 60's... we rebuilt everything. Hard to find mechanics like you today ... Great job!
another quality job finished up. this is the way i like to do things.....spend all the money on it before it goes on the road. i would rather spend the money on parts while in my shop instead of giving it away to the road side service guy or the tow truck.
My thoughts exactly! Had to pull the radiator on my KW T-300 with a CAT 3126. Gonna change the water pump, a front structure seal kit, and replace rotted steel water hoses with stainless. You are gonna make me buy one of these old girls! Lol
Enjoying the Peterbilt rebuild videos. Interesting and informative. No childish antics like on some of the other peoples videos. Thanks for Sharing ✌🏼🇺🇸
The little touches like the tool box and painting the steps really clean it up and make for a smooth look. Getting closer and closer to pulling a money making load! I sure like that old stuff, it was built to last and now it's rebuilt to last again!
Gosh I remember doing that kind of work , don't miss it one bit . Nice job on the steps , I think the paint sets it off just nice . What I can't wait for is when you do the stacks
Great job as always you have got the right attitude towards anything that comes up you solve problems as they come up l love it anybody that needs motivation should be watching these videos if you push papers or turn wrenches for a living this is how people should handle there job as far as I'm concerned your are a great man
How does a diesel mechanic do work like that for an entire career and still have a functioning back? What an outstanding old school mechanic, truck driver, painter, etc.
Thanks mate for these clips it is so enjoyable to watch you work on them trucks, it is very educational, learn a lot from watching you. I don't know anyone like you here in the landownunder Melbourne Australia, good on ya mate.
Any turbo off a modern N-14 will bolt right on and make that big cam come alive. Instead of struggling for 20 pounds of boost you’ll be backing out b4 it hits 40.... I love my big cam, love it...!!!! Been driving same truck for nearly 25 yrs
Once again a total learning experience for me,Esra my hat is off to your parents, as they have inspired work ethics you that are next to none.....GOOD OLD N.D.WORK HABITS.....KEEP UP THE VIDEOS...
another good job done e z when i first started at 15 as trainee truck mechanic in 1971 i was taught as tight as you can get it and on lug nuts we used a 4foot steel pipe on an L brace and tightened till the lug nut sqealed ,drivers who have you fixing their truck can rest easy knowing they had a competent guy taking care of their truck.
Nice work ezrider love watching your thorough work and clear explanation and thinking about my plans for a '79 pete one day (the year I was born) keep it up!
On your idler pulley for the water pump, you have a plug on the front. I recommend taking that out, and putting a grease fitting on there. You dont want that pulley to go out.
I’ve gotta say I enjoy watching you videos I’ve been driving for a little over a year and at some point want to buy my own truck so being able to see how you do everything and how you actually take the time to explain it is great. So thank you
Are you planning on buying a new truck or used older truck? My advice on buying an older roadworthy truck is...dont buy one until you have a minimum of 20k$ stashed away for maintenance, 20k will cover an in frame on a Detroit or n14 cummins, or a rear or transmission. I keep 25k in an account, and at the end of the year, I figure what I have used for maintaining and then replenish those used funds during the next year. A new truck is warranty covered and in my opinion, best traded in at 500k miles and start over with a new truck and fresh warranty. I can tell you, the new emissions systems, once out of warranty can cost upward of 20 to 30k to replace if they fail. Owning a truck is all comes down to common sense (cents) and smart business choices.
Looking good. The torque for the rear hub spacer is 700ft lbs and you have to replace them every time. As often as we do seals on trash trucks we throw them away and do it old school. Those are for people who can't figure out how to adjust bearings.
We would oil the threads on the wheel studs when installing wheels at the shop I used to work at until the QC guy explained to us this would throw the torque off and possibly cause the threads to get pulled out. After that we just started hitting them with a wire wheel to clean them off and lubing the area the lugnuts made contact with the wheel.
It may be piddlin but it's all got to be done. I always tightened brakes up solid and backed off 1/4 turn. With good cam bushings never had a hot one but toted a grease gun for the bad ones. 10/4 on the ever seize! Great job! Always liked to set my own brakes. That way I knew if I'd been on them too much.
True. It's more that I'd like to make more progress on bigger items when I have a little extra time and save more of the small stuff for weeks I may only get a few hours to work on it
@@Ezrider359 AND it's tough to have the shop tied up but it wasn't your fault. Parts are slow coming sometimes even if they are common items. BUT it's coming together, one thing at a time! A-PLUS!
Another great great instalment of this epic resto....you really don't cut corners good on ya.... maybe this truck will need a road worthiness test if that's the case it should fly through....bye till next time...
Like your througher work the only way to do it. To many financial pressures on people today, to be able to either pay someone to do the job,or do it yourself. Keep it up great work and video's, thanks for sharing
Awesome job, keep up the great work and can't wait for more vids.. Love watching you work on this older stuff not many out there anymore.. God I miss it.. Keep those wrenches on turnin and the tires on burnin..
Wow this video is really spliced together lol 😂 but the Switchpoint’s are really smooth took me a minute to figure you did a wing nut lock to painting steps to oooo new parts the ups and fedex trucks are our new ice cream trucks we get excited and scream yay truck parts lol 😂
Helpful Trucker There was a 359 for sale near me about a year ago. It hadn’t been on the road in about 10 years. Ezra, Twin Sticks, Bubbles 8V92, and Ol2stroker makes me jealous.
I was hoping for the South Main Auto sound effect when you used brake clean. Seriously, I think that this whole series has been very educational. Thanks!
My dads favorite hood ornament swan back in the day he had one that was all chrome then he had another one with pink or yellow wings I think you could wire them up so the wings lighted up like the swan it’s awesome memories of my dad passed away 5 years ago looks great
your doing a great job on old red !! I liked your idea for your step bolt that was pretty cool !! also nice work on videos !!! thanks for sharing!! be safe ez !!
I started a charter bus company last year. I can relate to how you said that it seems like you get slowed or stopped trying to get things done on your vehicles. It’s been an uphill climb every step of the way. I guess if it was easy everyone would be doing it.
Mr Ezra, like your video,s kinda new to them, quite a bit older than you but someone showed you correct on things, I use never seize on everything, was those hubs already loaded with races bearings seals ready to go. Really like the video with the b model installed, Got an 85 359 with a cummins and they are just too jerky, even as a part time truck, Building a EXHD 379 with a B model( 1993) hope to have it ready for springtime. Just Cant Beat CAT POWER, again like your work.
One of the hardest things to do as an owner operator is to not surrender to the new truck "itch". It not easy rebuilding an old truck. Or even maintaining an old truck. But it beats having the payment and having to deal with regen and def problems. Ezz knows this.
I really don't know much, however; when I check the stroke on brakes I push in the brake pedal and hold with a stick with full air pressure. I like 1 1/2" travel. But I'm new grasshopper.

Everything polished I think you should polish the boxes for a complete uniformed look. Awesome work love the videos!!👍🏽👍🏽
Saved a few thousand dollars doing it your self I've watched since the day you got it my man good work
Nothing better than watching a new video from my neighbor to the north while enjoying my coffee. Truck is looking good cant wait for the next video
The truck emblem at the end of the video looks amazing .

👍👍👍👍 great professional work as always. Coming along nicely. Thanks for an update on ole red
I know it’s not easy work. Your good at what you do and make it look simple.I love the good work you put out, the truck is looking great!
So many great tips! However, I would stay away from applying antiseize onto the lugnut studs, that can make them loosen up while driving
You’re doing such an excellent job restoring this truck. Well done! Look forward to the next video.
Thanks 👍
That’s genius on the box latch.....
Truck is looking gorgeous. Just amazing the amount of work you have put into old red. The truck is gonna be show truck worthy when your done with it.

I just put all new belts on my 855 as well. It is a bit of a pain, but not as bad as fixing the coolant leak I had.
Getting closer each time a video comes up. Nice
