That's a clean install, the days of driving the Mack will be long over lol, you've got the power of todays newer trucks with the reliability of a mechanical engine.
@@adammoe2061 Whats funny. I’ve straight up flew past the new volvo with supposedly “600hp” in my Cat 3406E 550 horse. I’ve also passed teucks with the newer Cummins “X15” that are supposedly the hottest thing out. CAT still wins
@@josefastboats5874 yes I have a Cummins ISX 15 that’s the slowest bitch ever. The funny thing with Cummins is that there is 3 different types of ISX engines. I’ve been getting caught up on your videos and I just pulled a 3406b I had in the shop out to rebuild and swap into my truck with a big cam 😂 so glad I’m not the only one.
Sweet engine swap! Congrats on getting Old Red back on the road, going like a scalded Cat! Looks like that engine should serve you well, hopefully for many years to come.
It is good to see that your back. The B model cat is a great engine I hope that you get as good as service out of that one as I have on my 7FB in my 84 Pete.
Just had a platinum overhaul on my C15, new cam, new front gears, and various other parts. Spendy, but i absolutely love it. Getting about 57-58 lbs of boost! CAT is the only way to go lol
Following the build on big red from your first video. Great channel that has different content from the other builds. Big red was turned from the ashes into one hell of a work truck that can do what it was built to do. Bring home the green backs.
I love the big Cam Cummins motors but those old cats are awesome too. Looks like a nice job of installing and it sounds like its running smooth. Best of luck with the Pete, she's pretty much a new truck now. 👍
Greetings from the Ohio Porters! 🇺🇸 I like the old fuel filters that you can see through. I loved the old cars and trucks that had the glass fuel bowls! I like a Cummins, but a Cat engine is so much better in my opinion. I mean, you have a classy Pete to start with, but now it has a classy engine to get you down the road! 🤩 Sounds totally radical! I’m glad that they did a good job for you! 🤩 I like those new blue hoses! That’s the real proving ground…out on the road! 🧐 So glad it’s working out for you! Keep the wheels a rolling my friend! ✌️🙏
I'm very happy for you that the truck is working good !!!!!! After all the work you've done on it It's the best gift you can have !!!! Have a great day yeah!!!!!!
Rare to find such a good install on a retrofit like that from a shop. Never exactly the way you'd do it yourself, but looks like they treated you right. I like a BigCam, but a 3406B is pretty good too! At that power level I'd keep fresh rod bearings in it, my experience with turned up B's is that they wear the rod bearings fairly quick because the B's use a narrow rod journal. Cool to see Old Red back at work and faster than ever.
You know why it costs so much? Because it's worth it! Good luck with the cat. I have a b series in my 90 pete doing local dump work lots of stop and go and it's been pretty much trouble free.
they done a good job on it nice work Them push rod cats they are a nice engine , You always gotta do a little bit after You do a out of frame like that , She's looking good , Be safe take care yourself Ezra
Ol’Red has come along way from when you saved her… fantastic job brother. You should if you get a chance save a ken worth cabover k-100 or a Peterbuilt cabover. Lol
Love the kitty. Red now sounds as good as she looks. My experience with Cat is that you pay more up front but in the long run they are cheaper to run. 🙂
Always going to have those little projects on a engine swap---gives ya something to do in your spare time😁--- looks and sounds like they did a great job,congrats...................enjoy.
You gotta get the AC working in that Yota 😆. I had an extended cab one that I fully restored engine wise and that 22RE was the best little engine that could
I know an old timer who's 98 pete with a cat in it is on the verge of 2 million miles and never been opened up, not even for injectors. I think that truck will last you a life time Ezra, especially with how you take care of your equipment. Definitely happy the old girls back in your hands and making you money.
I know as an independent business it hurts when the bill is bigger, but that big cat should serve you well for many miles. And as a gearhead, man it sounds good in ol red. Beautiful truck.
watching the intro gives us a good review of how much work you had to do..and did...and by yourself...what a truck..and am sure you are proud..and we are amazed..
That a good engine you have in your truck it's more of a mechanical kind of engine so it's a little more complicated sometimes but it's strong my boss as the same 3406b in a frighteliner fld classic with a deep 15 gearbox and trust me it works good and sounds good brother.🔥🔥🔥🔥🇯🇲
Awesome! I literally talked with my buddy about the truck needing a CAT from day one now it has it! Amen buddy. Love the truck and all the sweat and blood you put into it! You should be very proud and pleased. I ran many b models and the all were great. Best of luck to you!
G'day and greetings from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 you have done a really terrific job on the whole restoration on Big Red it's a credit to you she is one beautiful lady, it was great to watch all the videos on her restoration to look back on how it was when you first got it to how she is now show's your skills anyway take care kind regards John
Love your progress n I gotta say the 5niner w a B is just right! Slap a 6x4 n ya had the bees knees in its era! So stoked fer ya EZ. Sorry about blowin through budget. We don’t get to hear mechanical engines in SF Bay Area anymore

That’s a very clean install and sure does match the rest of the ‘ol Pete. I also recently put my new truck to work and it’s a real nerve wracking experience every time not knowing if somethings going to go disastrously bad. I don’t have a truck nearly as nice as yours but we all start somewhere. Heck I’m just happy I can run outlaw whenever I want now. Those corrupt three letter agencies can keep their bullsh- and eLogs. 1999 Freightliner Classic XL high roof, Detroit S60 12.7L 500hp, 10sp, 3.50 gears. I’m doing real light stuff just Reefer work. So it works for me and has just enough aerodynamics to stay away from the pump for a few days.
Keep an eye on the flat clamps on your injector lines. I had 1 fall off on the way to Florida , and it broke the #5 steel line. Seems to be common on 3406B models.
Ezra buddy I had to laugh..." I really don't need 600Hp" are you kidding me? With those 100000Lb loads you pull I would think you would want every single bit of HP you could get your hands on!! Too much HP is like saying too much sex or too much money...LOL Anyway LOVE your channel!!!
350hp will move a 100k lb load. I don't think they backed it down much from 600 they might have been over to start with. Will be interesting to see what it's actually making when they get there Dyno fixed
When I put an air to air on my 359 I got a rad out of her 379 and the air to air went beside the red and nothing rubbed but I do have an air to air like you have in my parts department saving it for the next one that I do so I’m glad to see that it works

Sweet engine swap! Congrats on getting Old Red back on the road, going like a scalded Cat! Looks like that engine should serve you well, hopefully for many years to come.
Great choice. Best engine in the business, period. I have over 2.3 million miles on mine with only 1 inframe. Congratulations man, do enjoy.
Looks good and congratulations on your new engine
I liked how all the dogs started barking when you popped the hood on old red to reveal the cat,. thats a neat job, good luck with it EZ,.
I knew I heard a CAT , then I saw that Cummins . Good job , clean install on the 3406 , 51/2 -600 horse will get er done . good change out
Hi from UK, I have run a 3406b in a 87 freightliner wrecker for 20 plus years, that cat will pul hell,!!!!
It is good to see that your back. The B model cat is a great engine I hope that you get as good as service out of that one as I have on my 7FB in my 84 Pete.
Hello how are you doing today
Glad to see Old Red from beginning to now, awesome EZRider.
Glad your back!!!! Motor looks great I'm not to much of a Cummins guy anyway, nothing like having a B model cat under the hood!
Passed you in the Mack in minot! Damn near turned around to say hi!
Truck sounds like a million dollars man, great video!
I was getting serious withdrawals. Welcome back!
Yeah I wasn't expecting the truck to be gone for 2 months. Parts availability is a issue right now
Ole red looks so right with yellow under the hood!!! I know you wanted a E model but that mechanical B model suits you I think, a jack of all trades.
