Hi Brendan, I'm a filmaker from Spain. A filmaker just like you, similar story, similar reflections about life and how to grow as an audiovisual creator. I also started with a Canon 600D (in Europe). I just bought a Lumix S5 and I'm happy, as happy as I was when I had the Canon. Thank you for sharing your experience, you never know who will resonate with it.
I love Lumix cameras. I bought a S5 a year ago on sale to compliment my G9. It’s a great camera. Perfect for low light situations that my G9 might struggle with.
@@TheCmcyclist I agree. I just bought the S5IIX as it’s on sale for less than I bought the S5 for originally. These cameras are such an amazing bang for your buck value. I recommend the S5 to anyone looking to get into filmmaking or photography. Unbeatable value imo.
This is probably one of the best videos I´ve seen from a video with only about 2k views at this point in time. Amazing storytelling and great quality! Keep it up.
@@braaten4591 I appreciate that! I’m hoping to find my groove and build a community of cool creative people who love storytelling. Thanks for watching!
I've been doing photography as a freelancer since 2012, I was mainly shooting Canon APS-C and then transitioned to Full-Frame Canon 6D. I was brave enough to explore a hybrid option for future video work and I pulled the trigger on the Lumix S5, I genuinely don't regret a single bit of my decision. I fell in love with the whole system as a photographer, this thing nailed both photography and video at the same time. Best purchase ever made honestly 💯💯
@@tamimaliraqii you love to hear it. I’ve shot different models of RED, Sony, Canon, Panasonics over the years. It was when I used the GH5 on a trip to New York in 2018 when I realized how underrated most of the Panasonic cams were. When I bought the S5 I realized how much more I preferred the features and UI compared to struggling with Sony Menus. Panasonic cams definitely match my style and taste I’ve developed as a buyer and creative with my experience. The best systems for people who do video by day and filmmaking by night.
@@BrendanMiranda You're absolutely right about the UI, it's so intuitive and easy to use. I never knew Panasonic made these video beasts, I only shoot 1080p due to my outdated MacBook Pro 2013 and I swear it blows away the footage that comes out of my Canon 6D, no comparison there Lumix S5 just beats it by lightyears!
Yeah man - I’ve had this camera just under two years - it was a great deal at the time and is definitely delivering fantastic value for money. Not changing any time soon
nowadays good to hear somebody is talking from his gear this way. like you really feel the connection with your camera. reminds me for my very first and second own cameras, a Panasonic GS500 and a Canon T2i... I didn't feel the same for long time now. Hopefully the new G9ii will give back this feeling. First step is done - the image quality.
Nice! If I didn’t have access to a a7s iii for work I’d have kept my S5 (and then S5 ii) for sure. I fact the prices on the S5 are now so tempted second hand 😅
Yeah, the admin was pretty pissed about that I heard but I’m glad our teacher knew the value they could provide to the program. Put a lot of us way ahead of most people coming out of HS going into the trade. 😅
Came here from your Film Booth post. I'm glad I did. It's an engaging video with great visuals, a great story, and a great voiceover. I watched to the end. Take it or leave it but two things bugged me. The subs are tiny on my phone with poor contrast. They just distracted me. Also, the music is too loud for me. You speak quickly and your voice was competing with the music. Sometimes I couldn't keep up with what you were saying. The subs aren't a big deal, but the volume of the music very nearly caused me to quit pretty early on. Anyway, you've got a lot of talent. I'll subscribe.
Thank you for the kind words and constructive criticism. I am glad you found it engaging, I thought I was going crazy because my edits usually have energy throughout. Moving forward I will watch the volume on the music (I might have accidentally raised it a few db when I put limiting on the master) and maybe scale the subtitles up a bit more if I choose to use them again. 😎👍🏻
@@BrendanMiranda I personally don't think you need the subs for this kind of content. The moment when they particularly distracted me was the striking shot of the fish around 3:05. I don't know, I'm nitpicking, but perhaps these details matter.
@@alex-on-words you are mostly 100% correct on that note, these were placed there more for aesthetic than anything. I considered removing them a few times, but overall liked the way it shifted the vibe slightly and made me focus on the voiceover more with the visuals complimenting the VO rather than the VO complimenting the visuals.
Glad you liked it, fellow Lumix enjoyer. I forgot to label in the video that the shot of me in New York was shot on GH5. 😂 the footage matches up nicely to S5 when graded.
I still rock the S5 and have no plans on upgrading.

Beautiful piece of content, Brendan!
Cheers to more of these.
Lumix S5 is relly cool camera
Yeah
I’m buying one soon for 900. An absolute steal
I saw a guy on Reddit on the Lumix subreddit who claimed he got a second S5 as a B-cam for $725. I was like “HOW?!” Insane value for that price.
Yeah man - I’ve had this camera just under two years - it was a great deal at the time and is definitely delivering fantastic value for money. Not changing any time soon
This video gives a nice Vibe :)
Glad you think so! I curated the vibe all the way down to using my own music 😂🎉
Now smile for the camera 😀📸🖼

Very valuable insight ! Plan to getting the S5

Great way of telling the story of the camera which I admire.

The S5 is amazing
Great video man 👍
Thank you! Appreciate the kind words 😎🤙
I did not know our school brought those wild cameras in. That’s kinda wild.

Panasonic, give Brendan an S5iiX😊
The only lumix camera better is the S1h you will love this even more
