Awhile back I decided to stop reading the scans and wait for the official release, it’s just a few more days after all. Feels good. But so far I haven’t kept that same discipline with Mom Piece; I’ve been watching the VODs as soon as they’re done. The edited video is better, but I can’t wait. At some point Drawk mentioned that being subscribed but never watching videos is terrible for the algorithm though, so I feel bad about it. So I just went through every video and skipped through to each section; hopefully that makes the computer brain think that I’ve really watched them all. And I’ll endeavor to start waiting and watching on here; this break week after Mama caught up is probably the time to start that switch, especially since the editor has been picking up the pace. Good work to all y’all!
Also interesting how Doflamingo and Big Mom are some of the worst threats to the world and both of them were essentially molded into being even worse by grown ass adults when they were kids.
52:00 We see judge repeatedly unable to grasp that other people have experiences, thoughts, or plans of their own. When his life, and his children's lives are in danger, we see him unable to understand the consequences of removing emotions. Instead, all he values is strength. So to me it makes sense that he would wholeheartedly trust Big Mom. He feels that might = right, and can't grasp that she might have secret plots of her own. He's intelligent enough to recognize this shortsightedness in himself. But his base personality still leads to those blind spots.
Something about Mama’s rants to like the videos actually works to get me to hit like. Other creators need to take a note here on her masterful skill at manipu- I mean, persuasion to hit the like button.
Well, the cross for Christians isn't "ooooh boy I sure do love crucifixion!" It's more like, "thank you for sacrificing yourself in this moment to wash away our sins". Very sad to learn about Mother Theresa. I know it's certainly not the first time someone has used this or another religion to horrible ends, but it's still sad to hear about.
But like, there are many better things they could use instead of a torture device being the symbol of their ideology. Jesus supposedly had a crown of their placed on his head so why not that? Or why not a boulder symbolizing that he is their rock, their foundation, or to symbolize the empty tomb? Why not come up with something original? These are rhetorical questions btw, in case that's not clear.
@@whatwecalllife7034In Christian Doctrine, the crucifixion is a symbol of Jesus being the Lamb of God. Basically a lamb was used as a blood sacrifice. This was his preferred sacrifice to forgive sins during the Old Testament back when he was acting as the God of the Israelites. I think the crucifix is the best symbol they can use because it represents the moment Jesus took in all the sins of the world. Jesus paid for all the sins people have committed and all the ones they will commit in the future. His blood washed away the sin in order to open heaven not only to Israelites but to the Gentiles (basically everyone else) as well. Before Jesus, heaven was only reserved for Abraham's children, that is, Israelites. After his death, heaven was now open to all. Choosing the Crown of Thorns would not be appropriate because they placed that on Jesus to represent how he was King of the Jews. Choosing a symbol that ties to him being a Jew takes away from the fact that Jesus did not die just for the Jews, he died for everyone. Edit: The number one requirement to have your soul saved and have your happy after life in Christianity is to believe that Jesus is the son of God, who died for your sins on the cross, rose from the dead after 3 days, and then ascended into heaven. This is the gospel of the New Testament. It is by grace that people's souls have been saved. Even if you were the nicest, most sinless person in the world, you would have no chance at Christian heaven if you don't meet this requirement. That grace was given by Jesus when he died on the cross.
@@cheshirecat5155 Brother, I don't live under a rock, I am quite familiar with Christian doctrine. I'm pointing out how DUMB it is to use a torture device for execution as a symbol of your ideology if you want to express the opposite of what that device represents. A lamb. Now that's another good figure to have instead of a torture device since it better represents what they were trying to convey. Lambs were commonly used as sacrifice. Jesus was a metaphorical "sacrificial lamb", according to Christian mythology. Why not use a lamb in that case? Or why not use a dove, which typically had associations with divinity, purity, ritual cleanliness, and life? Btw you're not supposed to make graven images of anything on Earth or in the Heavens anyway, so really there shouldn't be *any* earthly symbol. Edit: btw what you just said means that as long as someone converts on their deathbed, even the most vile people can end up in Heaven with the people they abused or killed. Even worse is that the people they abused or killed would end up in Hell if they didn't believe yet another mythological story about how some human was actually a god. Give me a break. 🙄
@@whatwecalllife7034 Your reply tells me you don't really know the doctrine. The importance of the symbolism and imagery is lost on you. A lamb? Seriously? Maybe if the only scripture you had was the Old Testament that would fly. And yes. As long as you meet that basic requirement I mentioned, even the most vile person can get into heaven. That's what the bible flat out says. Ephesians 2:1-10 explains it all. Jesus already paid for their sins as well as yours. No human is good enough for heaven but Jesus took our place and that's why we can enter. That was why He died on the cross. The cross is the symbol of people's souls being redeemed and allowed entry into heaven (upon meeting certain conditions, of course) and it's stupid to choose that as a symbol of your faith? Stupid to choose the symbol that represents the unselfish love, goodness and grace that was given by the Messiah to an unworthy person such as you? That's why Christians do not look at it as a torture device. Which you should know since you claim to "know" Christian doctrine. It's the most important event in the New Testament when salvation and the afterlife is concerned. If you know the doctrine as you say, do you recall who were beside Jesus when he was crucified? What happened? What is stupid would be Christians feeling superior to other people when God looks at them the same as He does non-Christians and liars and criminals. In the eyes of God, a person who has killed millions, as long as they have repented and have been reborn through the Holy Spirit, will be able to enter heaven while a non-Christian, even if they have committed no crime, will not. THAT is Christian doctrine.

I really enjoyed the discussion around Katakuri having an inherited will, and I also think that it's important to recognize Big Mom's inherited will from Mother Caramel. I think Big Mom is a good example of inheriting a will that is superficial, since she is trying to make a world where all the races can live together, but doesn't truly understand the goal, because Mother Caramel only ever used that dream as a front for her other goals.
Not only did Oda reference The Wizard of Oz… he also referenced Alice in Wonderland along with a musical like you would see in a Disney film in the beginnings of Whole Cake Island… only what they were singing about was about murder and such

I'm always ecstatic everytime Mama Drawk and Drawk post their review, because unlike other reviewer who only cares about the fight because of power scaling, they miss the hidden message and teachings in every arc, the reference in history Oda is pulling it from. Take note that I’m not advocating for it, but I THINK the age of consent in japan is 16, or at least the common belief of ‘romantic beginnings’. - That being said, I think it’s partially due to the ‘teen’ reader target demographic. I think this applies to Shirahoshi, Rebecca, and Pudding. I don’t personally think Oda was trying to be gross or that he intended to attract people to minors. I think he basically designs ‘adult bodied women’. and just designates them to the target demo.
I really gotta go back and read this arc. I've only experienced it through the anime and it was when the pacing was potentially at it's worst. Took a whole, like, year and a half off afterwards so the Wano binge could be less painful, and it _still_ was pretty painful with how much they reused some of those scenes.
There is a moment in this arc that is still in my top five tears moments. When Sanji finds out about the sacrifice and death of Pedro. He starts to apologize. and while fighting back tears Carrot says (and I am paraphrasing because it has been a while) Don't say sorry. Say thank you. Ahhhh😭😭 Side note. Snake Man is still my top Luffy form.
Ive always said that Luffy ignites his fist due to Gear 2nd and Haki. He pumps his blood so fast that his body heats up and steam evaporates instantly. So what if his body due to being enhanced with Haki can now combust into flames temporarily due to Gear 2nd heating up that impact point
Mama. Even without context I implore you to listen to the song Raphael’s Final Act. Hearing you talk about villain songs made me go out of my way to suggest this. It’s a song sung by a devil when he realizes you betrayed him and stole your contract with them and starts to fight you in his home in hell.
Not only did Oda reference The Wizard of Oz… he also referenced Alice in Wonderland along with a musical like you would see in a Disney film in the beginnings of Whole Cake Island… only what they were singing about was about murder and such… also, I kept waiting for Big Mom to say the queens phrase off with their heads.

i already commented on the actual content of this video so now i really, really want to recommend another manga/anime to you guys if you havent read it already, and thats Mob Psycho 100. if one piece is my favourite story of all time, MP100 is my favourite anime of all time. i love the manga as well, but the anime.....its mind-boggling how crazy good the animation. it feels like they had unlimited budget sometimes. but anyway the important thing is that the story has so much heart, and a lot to say about all kinds of things. its about a 14 year-old boy with extremely powerful psychic powers, but the powers are kind of unimportant actually. they feel more like a vehicle to say things about accepting yourself etc etc. i just think MP100 is extremely...not underrated bc everyone who watches especially the anime agrees its one of the best things theyve ever seen, but in general its just a story thats not spoken about enough. and im just commenting this bc i kinda desperately wanna know what mama drawk would think about the characters and the story - ill just say this much: the main character of MP100 is, together with luffy (who ive loved for 16 years now!!!!!) that boy is my favourite main character of just about anything ive ever read. hes very important to me. so if y'all are ever in search of a short to mid-length manga/anime to talk about (its like 16 volumes/3 season with 12 episodes), i recommend this one :)))))
I feel the way they represent the profound impact Zeff's parentage of Sanji plays into a lot of the pay offs is so fun. Onepiece as a whole just has so many great dad moments for people that aren't even the biological fathers it's insane. Still say Sanji's goodbye and Garp's encounter with Dandan post war arc are top 5 moments for me.
Luffy vs Katakuri is my favorite fight for its theme. Luffy has to lie to his crew as the captain that everything is ok. Katakuri choses to stops lying to his family about who he is, maybe inspired from luffy in some way.
I'd love to learn more about this storytelling thing from the japanese card game, but a quick google didn't bring anything up. Anyone got a link or something to find out more?
1:09:00 on the google thing. yes and no. I found that if I use a VPN I get better results if you go set your country to new Zealand, Australia or sometimes Canada, the results are usually more helpful than USA google. The difference I've seen is: due in small part to information tracking, in a greater part due to the algorithm returning what it thinks you want because others clicked this link after a similar search, but primarily because businesses being listed hire to sell product vs actually answering a query. Canada doesn't have the last one as bad as the USA does,, but it is still there. However, the second problem with the algorithm is almost worse.
if you can make everything 'fair' then you can either super boost yourself to being as strong as the enemy or make them as weak as you after all, it only fair that this is an equal fight

Why did you mention that ucky eater!
Well, he did not meditate. He literally ate himself.
In a roundabout way, yes lol
Hi mama drawk 😊 been an avid youtube and twitch fan. Congrats on reading the whole one piece manga up to its latest release!!
Thank you. Not all heroes wear capes. Lol❤
@@Mamadrawk awww thanks for the like mama. You're my hero 🥰. Looking forward for your theories this Sunday! And p.s. do you think luffy's dream is to stop world hunger??
That talk on the four emperors is gonna be hilarious in a couple of videos.
Mama mama mamaaaaa! Finally you joined the big boys arcs. From now on everything is more complex and more juicy! Oda is freaking amazing and mama is one of the few people who can see all of the details we mortals miss. And that s why i love watching your content! God bless you guys, you make me reveal my OP journey with you!
Ever since the reveal of Snake man i have been worried about Hancock . if she learns that Luffy has a form named Snake Man (she being a snake-woman) she might get so happy she EXPLODES. it doesn't matter if it's named after her or not, she'll think it is and possibly overdose on happiness and die
The same can be said about the protagonists also!
Oda seems to put an immense value on mentors and role models
Dolgamingo
@@Zejoant oop
It’s the way of things, what Otohime tried to do with the children, Hody is the result of being shaped by mentors.
Low key nami's biggest feat of theft in OP. Her taking zeus is in essence her stealing a hunk of an eneny yonkos soul and then bending it ti her will
52:00 We see judge repeatedly unable to grasp that other people have experiences, thoughts, or plans of their own.
Im still in awe of the fact that Oda hinted at this arc with Lola's first introduction all the way back in Thriller Bark.
This is the best thing to watch while I animate, love this series
I'm going through a lot personally right now so I'm glad that despite it all I get to open UA-cam and be greeted with a episode of one of my favorite ongoing series currently, I can't wait for you guys to get caught up because the animation to the anime looks really good so I'd love to see you guys maybe dissecting some of the newer episodes or something like that when you get there but thank you guys for continuing to stay positive and enjoying the story and having fun with it because it gives me a chance to relax
I love listening to these on the way to and from work, I love reliving the show!
Fair-Fair Fruit = The Lock from JJBA part IV.
(oooo, I want Mama Drawk to read/watch JJBA once she's caught up on One Piece)
I really enjoyed the discussion around Katakuri having an inherited will, and I also think that it's important to recognize Big Mom's inherited will from Mother Caramel. I think Big Mom is a good example of inheriting a will that is superficial, since she is trying to make a world where all the races can live together, but doesn't truly understand the goal, because Mother Caramel only ever used that dream as a front for her other goals.
Not only did Oda reference The Wizard of Oz… he also referenced Alice in Wonderland along with a musical like you would see in a Disney film in the beginnings of Whole Cake Island… only what they were singing about was about murder and such
It always bothers me when people bring up Perospero because no one seems to talk about the fact that he looks uncannily like the Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Nose? Hat? The literal theming around using lollipops/candy as tool to catch people?
It really informs his shittiness and merciless nature.
HE DOOOOES
I'm always ecstatic everytime Mama Drawk and Drawk post their review, because unlike other reviewer who only cares about the fight because of power scaling, they miss the hidden message and teachings in every arc, the reference in history Oda is pulling it from. Your channel is criminally underated you review One piece better than most one piece youtubers
That is really sweet. Thank you. I’m just getting into other videos. I can’t watch them yet because I’m supposed to make some predictions first, but there is a huge list of people’s favourite videos in our discord if you’re interested
So I'm from Europe, so I only read the great Gatsby recently, and I've seen Stussy before that, and yeah, that's just what Daisy looks like in my head
no doubt when Sanji tells Zeff about Judge he would say "he may have been your father, but he wasn't your daddy"
I feel like this same format with JoJos would be amazing as well
JoJo, HxH, FMA all would do amazing!
id love to see mama pick JoJo's apart, especially for her insights on parts 5 and onwards
Ye
Dropping the like, I'll be watching it later.
Boom! 💥 knocking it high over the fence. HOME RUN!!!
Oh my God, you made me relive that Brook scene. I blocked that out dude...
Hello!
Sorry!
Mama. Even without context I implore you to listen to the song Raphael’s Final Act. Hearing you talk about villain songs made me go out of my way to suggest this. It’s a song sung by a devil when he realizes you betrayed him and stole your contract with them and starts to fight you in his home in hell.
Vote here for mama drawk to be at the youtube reverie
I know we're behind as youtube watchers, but she ain't ready for reverie. It's gonna blow Mama Drawk's mind.
When mama drawks conquerers haki hits you through your den den mushi and compells you to subscribe

Which is the Wizard of Oz reference?
Would it be possible to get a source on Mama Drawks four light storytelling research? This concept is entirely new to me and I'd love to read more about it but Google is broken. Everything I search chooses to talk about the four act structure of kamishibai.
About Luffy's fire attacks,"Vulcanization of rubber".
"Vulcanization is a chemical process in which the rubber is heated with sulphur... The process involves the formation of cross-links between long rubber molecules so as to achieve improved elasticity, resilience, tensile strength, viscosity, hardness and weather resistance."
vulcanization => Vulcan, the Blacksmith roman god of fire
I'm sad that Mama Drawk started after we left Wano because I remember telling folks who started their Journey with One Piece with "Make it to Wano, we will wait for you"
if you don't like the cross, you may always use the fish (:
Omg I'm so excited for the Reverie
That PTSD Brook had me bawling my eyes out
Breaks me
2:32:06 thanks, mamma drawk - i didn't need that extra water from my eyes anyhoo.
that is one of the most profound things i've heard in my whole, entire f***king life. maybe W7/enies lobby really does have competition for me
Oh, yeah, also I love the way the anime handled the ending of this this arc. It wasn't perfect of course, but I think it's one of the better ones.
Yall this was nice
i already commented on the actual content of this video so now i really, really want to recommend another manga/anime to you guys if you havent read it already, and thats Mob Psycho 100. if one piece is my favourite story of all time, MP100 is my favourite anime of all time. i love the manga as well, but the anime.....its mind-boggling how crazy good the animation. it feels like they had unlimited budget sometimes.
but anyway the important thing is that the story has so much heart, and a lot to say about all kinds of things. its about a 14 year-old boy with extremely powerful psychic powers, but the powers are kind of unimportant actually. they feel more like a vehicle to say things about accepting yourself etc etc. i just think MP100 is extremely...not underrated bc everyone who watches especially the anime agrees its one of the best things theyve ever seen, but in general its just a story thats not spoken about enough. and im just commenting this bc i kinda desperately wanna know what mama drawk would think about the characters and the story - ill just say this much: the main character of MP100 is, together with luffy (who ive loved for 16 years now!!!!!) that boy is my favourite main character of just about anything ive ever read. hes very important to me.
so if y'all are ever in search of a short to mid-length manga/anime to talk about (its like 16 volumes/3 season with 12 episodes), i recommend this one :)))))
2:33:36 , in the wise words of SPONGE BOB " You want to see me run to that rock?! . . . Do you want to see me do it again"
It's a happy day with mom piece 💕
Love the political aspect of the show it’s always been part of what gets me excited to listen!
2:20:25 the politics discussions are my fave!!
However, the second problem with the algorithm is almost worse.
mamma drawk brought up boa hancock sorta suddenly right as i was thinking about her design??
"More gutted than most" Well, if he had guts! Skull joke, Yohohohoho!
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
pls tell mom to watch the reverie episdoes instead
its so worth it for what that arc is
1:25:06 Drawk edit for sure
I did it! Sorry!

Doflamingo has a pretty incredible mastery of his fruit! 🫳
if you can make everything 'fair'
then you can either super boost yourself to being as strong as the enemy or make them as weak as you
