Thanks juries from Malta
I can’t imagine a reality where Mall, Midnight Gold, Milim, I Stand and other songs that really deserved to be in the final wouldn’t have made it
All these disqualifications would be horrible...
Agree so much. That's why we need the juries. To balance it out
Also O Mie and Hour of the Wolf being lost in the semis is kinda weird
I am scared for the new system. I've always liked the jury + public mix because I think they balance each other off a lot. I rarely like the jury only/public only results... Not only that, but the recent rise in songs gaining popularity by going viral on TikTok leads me to believe we're gonna get a spike in entries made with the intention of going viral on TikTok to get more votes than with the intention of being *actual* good Eurovision songs. This is gonna seriously impact the song quality and diversity in the future...
Bejba
Mall by Eugent Bushpepa not qualifying would've been outrage. It's my favourite song from that year. Also, Coming Home by Firelight not qualifying would've been so bad.
It would’ve been a crime for Moldova 2013
Albania 2018 and 2021 would have been crimes
The most shocking potential outfall would be definitely Aliona Moon. She was not outsider in final like most of songs in this video were, but finished in first half! My two favourites from that year with Anouk.
we don't know the actual points of 2013 though, she might have been a televote qualifer.
The old system gives the show a little bit of variety. Midnight Gold and Mall were some gems that would miss the Finals
Midnight gold is fantastic and Mall was my favourite that Year because of the Live-Performance
@@itachiuchiha1682 About Mall, i was used to the long version, so i watched the live performance expecting to feel a half cup because of the 3 minutes long rule. God, but i was amazed by the quality of the vocals, performance and music itself. Give voice to the people doesn't mean that the good decision is the one that's going to be done.
What about Estonia 2011? It's so iconic too
@@pajonkmapper2481 Personally, i hate that song.
don`t forget about "Milim"!
I think the juries allow for more variety in genre, or at least that's the impression I'm getting. Not just the popular dance songs.. I don't really look forward to the new system :(
Are we watching the same video?? All the songs on this list are so "safe" and mostly pop ballads (2016 Georgia only comes as an exception), there was much more variety in a video showing the entries that would have made it.
@@LovelyAngel. I disagree. I don't even like many of these songs a lot, but while a lot of these are ballads, there's quite a bit of stylistic difference between them. I think we'll have to see how it plays out - if the purely televoting in the SF will mean that the final's a bit too one-note
I agree with you. With this new system the televoting has to step up their game and not let songs that all look alike. Sure there was some political voting with with the judges. But there is more with the televoting, and I liked the quirks with it. It's a shame to see it combined thing going for the semi-finals. I hope it will only be 1 year with this system
@@LovelyAngel. Yes we are, a lot of the songs that would have qualified are safe televote bait being uptempo or bringing a show. There are a few gems and exceptions, but in general I think the new system will make the final less varied.
@@LovelyAngel. Not you blindly criticizing juries, lmao... Tele also, even more, votes for predictable dance songs or crazy acts. Just the same. But only bashing juries, huh .
Televoters sleep on some beautiful ballads. Caroban from Serbia would have been out?! I love that song!
Mall is my all time favorite Eurovision song, I would not have recovered if it didn’t qualify.
Overall the better entries than the ones that didnt make it. Juries made a postive difference even though i dont always agree. We defintely need BETTER juries. Because too often they voted for basic milk toast cheesy pop entries
We need better viewers, not the ones who vote for Finland 2015
@@user-gs3yf7dv8r I'm Finnish and I agree
This. We need better juries, not no jury at all
what if they gave a "country" for all of the juries. Like global votes represent a "country", same way juries represent a country. Not that big of an impact, but might sway a point or 2 in one direction or another. This would balance tik tok hype votes
I mean in case of 2022 it's good option. Switzerland and Azerbaijan should stay in semi final that year and Cyprus should advance from 2nd semi final, only I prefer Latvia over Albania to qualify
And this is why 50% juries 50% televote is the best system. I’m really disappointed they changed it in sf’s.
Uhhh cuz Azerbaijan payed the juries to get them in the final and they got NO televote points at all.
I’m so happy they changed the system
To be honest, I really would have salvaged only "Blackbird" from the list of non-qualifiers. On this list, on the other hand, there are several of my favs from the respective years, as they are: O Mie, Mall, Caroban, I Stand. I know the taste in music is clearly subjective, but I have to say, adressed to the EBU please reconsider, this is not a good idea. You're not making the contest a better experience. Someone needs to talk some sense into the EBU.
Thanks juries for Albania 2018 and Belgium 2021
I was mostly on board (few big losses but mostly ok) then midnight gold happened and I was like "yeah no we need the juries"
yeah nah theres a number of entries that make you realise why the 50-50 system was so good
This + "Mall" + "The Wrong Place"... would have been terrible losses imo
@@AgnessaMo the wrong place is... I like it but I wouldn't mind losing it
same with like it from 2019, even though I prefer it over Poland I would've much rather have Poland make it
mall is 100% a huge loss though
@@AgnessaMo The wrong place was my 2nd after Ukraine in 2021. Great taste.
Of course the juries have taken some weird decisions and sometimes they are a bit corrupt, but overall they appreciate some hidden gems that main audiences don’t always do… Hungary 2012, Belgium 2021, Georgia 2016, Albania 2018, Bosnia 2010, Netherlands 2018…
Ukraine would no longer have a qualifying streak, wow.
2012 was bad sadly :(
and Sweden would have it instead i think..
@@han-oq6bo no, Sweden would lost it in 2008
@@han-oq6bo+Turkey too. We could qualify in 2011 with the new system 😉
@@erenaygun4157 so just Turkey then... congrats
I am still in shock about Azerbaijan 2022. How does that get 0 by the public? I understand why they changed thesystem for the semi finals. Lots of drama going on... But still...
Do you? They still vote in the final. Dont see how that changes anything. Cyprus and greece can still vote for each other and nobody cares
@@achnix3167 They will always vote for each other and always get 24 points in final.
@@nikolastojkovic9781 I think there is some reason about 🇦🇲 cause even Georgia gave 0 to them
Azerbaijan would’ve been a shock to me this year. Sure it wasn’t the best song of 2022, but I still think that last place and 0 points was too harsh.
The song was really bland and flat . Sandro of Cyprus refused it . Thanks to Nadir who saved his voice with the jury
im pretty surprised there is a lot of out-of-the-world, indie, and guilty pleasure music. georgia 2016 is surprisingly very unique and cool, especially serbia 2011. sweet and nostalgic ballads prior to 2012 are pretty decent as well.
rockerfellar street meme wouldn't exist if estonia didn't qualify lmao, so thanks juries a lot. i might dislike juries in finals, but they are at least doing good service to qualify some good pieces.
Fun fact - Georgia 2016 was back in 2022, just renamed
@@LovelyAngel. it looks so obvious!
Ireland 2010, Switzerland 2011, Estonia 2011, Hungary 2012, Malta 2012, Moldova 2013(obviously for me), Estonia 2013, Azerbaijan 2015(obviously for me), Czech Republic(obviously for me), Austria 2017, Denmark 2017, Albania 2018, Netherlands 2018, Belarus 2019, Belgium 2021(most obvious of all for me), Albania 2021(obviously for me), Switzerland 2022 and Azerbaijan 2022 all deserved the final and we wouldn't have that without the juries. Now we won't have that and I fear it won't be be fair at all
Wow I love nearly all of these songs... the new voting system already sucks...
Btw: "Made of stars" is one of my favourite entries of all time 😍
SAME
That's a great Ballad.
Many of these songs are amazing😞
2021:
Televotes to Belgium: You're in the wrong place
Estonia 2011 and Belgium 2021 would have been a CRIME
We need the juries and this video is the proof. Belgium not qualifying in 2021 is not something I would have wanted to experience
This video just proves that the next system sucks. 100% tele is NOT a good option
Now people can see why we need juries! I hope they change it back. Without them almost only weird, wild, crazy and/or upbeat music stands a chance, because there are too many ESC “fans” only in it for the crazy rather than the music.
That’s why we need juries.
Also Sweden 2008 and Finland 2009 and Croatia 2009 thanks to the jury wildcard
Crime if not have qualified: čaroban, o mie, start a fire, I stand, made of stars, running on air, mall, love is forever, the wrong place
Also crime that it would have qualified: Finland 2015
Karma >
Live it up > çaroban
I would say the new system is also straight up mean to smaller countries that have no support whatsoever (like mine-Slovenia). If they keep on using it for further contests, we will all drop and let the bigger countries fight each other.
Omg Eugent!!! Albania 2018 was awesome!!!!
I don't know how to feel about this. Alabania's Mall in 2018 by Eugent is one of my all time favorite songs :(
This is why juries are needed
At least with the inclusion of the juries, it gives variety.
Cant believe Milim woulndt be qualify. Its my favorite song of that year, but so many dont like it. Why? The emotions... The lyrics... Gosh...
I love this song.
This is why we need the Jury.
If there had been 100% tele vote, Finland would of gained the most and Azerbaijan would of been out of the final a few times. Sadly, I think Hungary would of quit sooner. Most other countries would of balanced out. For example, Netherlands would of made the final in 2012 but not 2018. Good to see that the public appreciates Finland 🇫🇮 more
Poor Joan Franka had some kind of throat infection in 2012. (The indian's hat was also not her idea)
Very interesting, that Finland would have gained the most! (I knd of noticed that on the "vice versa" video of this, ie. entries that *would have* qualified without juries, but did not...)
Without the juries the Netherlands 2012 would have qualified, but not the Netherlands 2018, even though the latter is a much better song. Crazy for me as a Dutch person. Also Belgium 2021 not qualifying would have been a crime.
OMG Milim - my 4th of all time!! and Made of star (my 3th of all time)!!, Rockefeller Street, Coming Home and I stand would also be sad
well, to be fair, none of these did well in the Finals. Many of them came last or got Zero points from the public, which is not nice for the acts. So maybe this will stop getting zero points in the final (except for the big 5 of course)
I'm really torn with the new system. There are lots of great songs I missed that stayed in the Semis. But I also would have missed Nimh (Ireland 2010), Nina (Serbia 2011), Aliona (Moldova 2013), Birgit (Estonia 2013), Gabriela (Czechia 2016), Hovi (Israel 2016), Nika and the Georgian Lolitaz (Georgia 2016), Leonora (Denmark 2019) and Anxhela (Albania 2021). About the rest it would have been ok to only see them once.
Malta 2012 and 2014?
@@gilmourattard9800 as I said. I could live without them. Malta 2014 was nice but 2012 was tacky and not memorable.
Moldova 2013 it’s crime not to pass
I do think the quality will go down because of this.
Hi Douze Points, when I commented I didn't realize you already did a video about entries that would have qualified, my bad, I hope you don't mind that I deleted my comment from earlier and I write this comment for apolozing and I also watched the video as well, thank you for the upload.
Eurovision circus period is coming back again with this system. Art is missing out
This new system for the semis is going to be so bad and harsh for smaller countries or countries which juries typically rank them in the top 10 to qualify. I hope this fixes the voting irregularities we had from this year
It doesn't. There are no such "voting irregularities". Worst decision by EBU to create disadvantages for genres if many kinds like ballot songs and for smaller countries.
the way I'd only save Čaroban and Midnight Gold here, and only Blackbird from the other list... idk what to make of that 😅
I’m very surprised Ukraine came 3rd in juries and 17th in televoting in 2012. This was supposed to be the opposite! 😂
I would have just missed O mie, Waterfall and Mall. But most of the songs are not needed in a final.
We wouldve missed a lot of those in the finals, because they were actually good
The quality will take a dive. But I guess it's cheaper then actually keeping a closer eye on the juries and having them explain some of the choices they make.
tbh i dont understand why "where i am - Anja Nissen" wouldnt get better scores whit the televoters cause the song is great and her vocals is amazing i tbh think it was better then alot of the more popular songs that year and even tho i applause Portugal for their first win i dont think the song deserved it it was boring and bland it wasnt a great song
It will be the death of ballads.
Georgia and Czech Republic are my favorites of 2016. I’m glad that they didn’t use the jury/televoting system back then.
Very interesting, thank you :D
I‘m shocked by serbia 2011 and moldova 2013… thanks to the jury for saving this songs
The juries were certainly quality control
It would've been so weird not having Estonia 2011 in the final! I remember that song being such a favorite before the show. Most of the rest of these I wouldn't have missed.
So youve got really bad taste then
Estonia 2011 is one of the worst songs in this video, actually, lol
OMG😱
So basically if the SF was 100% televote since 2010 Ukraine would've lost their qualifying streak? that's crazy just to think about it.
True but I love Be My Guest. I don't get its "low" popularity. The song is so catchy and her voice is very strong
@@irina1296 I think it was due to the running order, she performed 7th which would easily be forgotten by the public, plus the SF she was on had Loreen from Sweden and Zeljko from Serbia so that's perhap the reason why she didn't get a better score from the televote.
But interestingly, Sweden would've become the new flawless qualifier. (2010 was a televote q)
I've mixed feelings overall because some of the songs do deserve to push through, others not so much, so in the end not sure how much difference it will make overall. Going with the new system Ukraine would have lost their streak of all their songs going to the final.
If the Contest is nowadays able to produce songs that can chart and can appeal a vast public is because of the work done by the juries during these years, to promote different music genres. This video alone proves that. The decision of taking aways the juries from the semifinals is the worst for the future of the Contest (see Latvia 2023 not going through, such a real shame).
mall my beloved ❤
I think that some countries will flop in th next years because of the new system.
The better example is Azerbaïdjan, they're always a jury fav and they flop in the televote
To be fair they didn't even top the televote when they won in 2011 (they came 2nd after Italy), the public obviously don't like Azerbaijani's entries for some reasons, in fact many countries hated Azerbaijan because they cheated on multiple occasions so that would explained why they are not well-liked by the audience.
@@quangminhtran2916 they won the final televote in 2011 (with 223, 2nd is Sweden with 221), what they didn't win however, is the final jury vote where they come 2nd behind Italy like what you have said, and the televote in the semi-finals in which they are 2nd behind Greece
The only year this new system improved was 2022!
I really love all this entries🥺❤
The new system is bullshit
Well blame the nations that cheated this year I guess, those countries is the reason why they decided to create the new voting system for the SF starting next year.
Blame AzerBUYjian for that
@@giovanniscg8540 and Georgia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania & San Marino
At least the juries appreciate diversity and good vocals.
Hmmm, interesting.
I would be ok with most of these not getting through actually, but exceptions like Serbia 2011, Moldova 2013, Azerbaijan 2014, Georgia 2016, Albania 2018, Belgium 2021, and Albania 2021 missing out in a televote-only system make me think that keeping the split for upcoming years would be a wise decision.
I don't want the Jurys to go
A Lot of my all time favourites wouldn't be in the final If the Jurys didnt help them in
Im shocked about Estonia 2011 tho because it's so Trashy 😂😂😂
O mie 🇲🇩
Would have been sutch a lost😩
I guess we all know that it will be chaotic, and probably the beginig of the end of Eurovision, with all the things around Europe, and countries leaving the contest. It's sad, and honestly, I can'te see the point of it, We already had ths system before, and it was the worst... the 00's...
So many crimes! Thank god we have 50/50 system. had...
Gracias al jurado por salvar el 2011 !!!
With only televotes it will be a bit predictable in semi final buttttt idk sometimes televotes will gone crazy and the song you didn't expect will make into final will make it lol.
The finals wouldn’t have been the same without many of these entries.
Denmark 2017 underrated masterpiece
Actually As a Turkish I should be happy for new system but I cant cause my favorite countries never even will win 🇸🇮🇲🇰🇲🇪 or be qualify its sad we need jury votes at the least %30
I see lots of people complaining that the new voting system already sucks because some of this songs are amazing and deserved to qualify, I think that we aren't seeing the main benefit of the new system, what do most of these songs have in common? They are almost entirely ballads, so with new system is not that we are leaving behind amazing songs, we are probably introducing more variety of genres to the final, after all what most of us fans have been complaining these last years its that they are too many ballads, remember which songs flopped by the public an yet qualified cause of the jury?
TODOS cantaron mejor que los que no salvó el televoto.
NAH BUT HOW WAS THAT UKRAINE ENTRY LAST IN THE TELEVOTE HUHHHH
we could literally go to esc scoreboard and figure out all nq s
Without Anja Nissen final would be totally weird I think 🤔
O Mie would've been out? Brutal!
This is really upsetting, most of these songs are ones I really love, with a few exceptions.
Maybe if next year ends up terribly, the voting system will be changed back... But probably not
Well this year (the final) did end up terribly, so here's hoping the system will be changed... Best might probably be 30% juries / 70% televotes in both semis & final, or then juries in semis but 100% televotes in the final!
Moldova 2013, Georgia 2016, Albania 2018😮
Also, with this system, not Ukraine but ironically Sweden would have a 100% qualification record lol
I believe Turkey would have it and Sweden lost it in 2008.
6:52 NO. LEONORA NOT QUALIFIED NO.
Albania 2019 ?
I still don’t think the new voting system is the best way to go, but at least this collection made me feel a bit better about it. The only song I’d really have missed out of these would’ve been Isaiah. Still, I feel like the overall quality of these is higher than in the entries that would’ve qualified in their place…
Wait, they're doing what?! 100% televoting in the semis?! This is just dumb, and I hope they change it to involve the juries again. I can see the outrage over so many good entries not qualifying already!
Lol Denmark was my winner in 2017
Let the people vote for the song's. The juries voting not by song. They vote political or friends...etc
The tele vote has always had a more political and neighbor country bias than jury vote. Ukraine winning last year by an insane number of tele votes was a great example of political voting.

It's not accurate because you don't have the ROW voting points.
As some of the margins were very small between 10-11 places
Always find lists like this weird with the data all being isolated - like, to make valid comparisons, you *really* need comparative lists, not just "this dropped out". Saying "we didn't get X" is going to be useless on it's own unless you say "Instead, we got Y". Especially because it results in some really bizarre takes about "genre diversity" which demonstrates a real lack of critical thought... and/or some people salty about their faves not being popular!
Like, let's take 2022 - in SF1 you lose Switzerland, gain Albania. SF2 you lose Azerbaijan, gain Cyprus. In 2022, I think you'd be fair to say that the presence of juries gave the final two very "meh" ballads - not a genre that was under-represented with better televote-loved options in Australia, Poland, and Greece. I would say that 2022 would be a year *improved* in diversity by the Jury - even if I wouldn't have been happy with Albania myself due to how weak the live performance felt. Like, it's fairly obvious that the 2022 results have driven the sudden change due to just *how* blatant the corruption in the Juries (and/or their lack of taste) was.
2021: Belgium and Albania are dropped, replaced with Croatia and Denmark. Losing Belgium would've sucked (expecially since they were close), but then gaining Denmark would've been A++. I don't think you had a big swing in genre diversity (though Belgium *was* eating into Portugal's heels a little)
2019: Swap Belarus and Denmark for Poland and Lithuania. "meh".
2018: Albania and Netherlands out, Greece and Poland in. The only year in the past 5 contests that I think the jury objectively saved the right entries.
2017: Australia, Austria, and Denmark out, Finland, Estonia, and Switzerland in. I think most anyone prefers this? Like, describing Finland and Estonia as "robbed" is indicative of being a fan, whilst Australia had the famous cracked note and Austria... had a kinda cute guy at least?
I don't disagree that there are always gonna be strange swaps, or ones that some people will consider overall detrimental - but no matter what system you're picking, any comparison is always going to have winners and losers. I'm not sure I'm sold on "zero jury", but I'm sure EBU will be monitoring stuff like "does quality mostly stay"!
