I never used Compression cubes before but I just got back from a 30 day trip to South Africa where we moved around every 2/3 or 4 nights so I would pack a cube for the next stop, Saved SOOOO much time repacking! But I wouldn’t bother on a trip to 1 or 2 locations!

Have a great trip! I’ve been a few times and love Japan. Take some napkins- they give you the little moist towel everywhere you eat, but most restaurants don’t have napkins.

Pro tip: you don't need to buy shoebags... Everyone has leftover plastic grocery bags at home. I use those to pack my shoes. Works just as well and saves money + provides a reuse for plastic bags.

I hate packing cube. They take up so much space. They don’t work for me. I have like 3 different kind. For shoe bags I just use a grocery bag & I double bag my shoe so that I can use the extra bag for dirty clothes. I love that AI devices. I would like to give that a try.
