I also make myself a packing recap so that I can learn what worked and what didn't. What I find is that different types of travel require different types of items packed. Great video!
Oh absolutely agree! Unless you are doing the same trip to the same place every time, your packing experience is going to be as different as the trip you are taking :)
Just found your content and love it! Haven’t been traveling much but intend to change that! About the travel blanket, based on multiple videos done by flight attendants, those airline blankets are rarely cleaned! Not going to use them next to my body! I’m going to get my own!
I have one of those, but it feels so bulky to take with me...the travel one is much slimmer and lighter. But if I lose some of the other stuff I didn't use, I'll have room for it 😊
Israel sounds amazing!! Thank you...it's been changing colors depending on what type of toner my hairdresser uses...this last time she used a bit of a darker toner, so it may be awhile before the blonde shows up again. I've been thrilled with the magic she does with my hair, it's made growing the gray out so much less traumatic, LOL!
I once got caught in a total downpour as I was getting my rental car one time, now I always have a travel umbrella in my personal item where I can get to it easily. If you haven't gotten one yet I'd like to recommend the Repel travel umbrella, it's full size but collapses tiny, it has the vented canopy and it has pushbutton open AND close, which is is super handy if you are wheeling luggage. So many travel umbrellas are cheap and flimsy but this bad boy is solid. I have a few from this brand and they're worth the extra money.
I almost always buy an inexpensive umbrella when I go to Asia (I buy it after I arrive, they make nice little gifts or souvenirs). They are great for sun as well as rain and they keep the rain off of your day pack as well as your person. I mostly wear a sun hat but when it is super hot and muggy it's nice to use the umbrella because of the air flow and the shade it casts.
You did mentioned in one of yr videos you wished you brought full laundry sheets because there were more washing machines available than you previously thought. All great ideas. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Good morning thank you for sharing Have you ever tried the space saver vacuum bags? I have done the compression bags. I just purchased the Level 8 20 inch suitcase I am yet to use it. I will use it in October. I also found something useful to help take the weight off your back when using a backpack on Amazon. It is the backpack sternum strap chess belt. Enjoy your journey in life and your wonderful traveling adventures🌞🤗
Great video, i just returned from a week in France and am heading to Spain and Italy in April. What I learned, like you, I will not be taking a neck pillow, it wasn’t needed. I also have the 17” Lovenook and love it. Thanks for your tips.
I have that fan and I have used it more in the airport than anywhere else!!!! I have a sonicare one toothbrush. Takes batteries and I can change the head after each trip so I have a “fresh” toothbrush each time.
Thanks a great video and sharing your tips. If you don’t want to hold a personal fan a great option is a neck fan. It just sits around your neck leaving your hands free.

This was a fun video. I took your “magic pants” this summer to Ireland, Switzerland, Paris, Montreal Canada and Quebec City Canada (3 weeks total) and they were my most worn piece of clothing. I wore them on the long haul flights, to dinners with sandals, with sneakers on casual days. Super versatile, comfortable and I love the POCKETS! They’re barely showing wear after so many days of use, so I’ll be ordering another pair in case I can’t find them for the next time we travel. Thank you for all the tips!
I love this so much!! What great trips you've had this summer 😊. I wanted to take my magic pants to Japan, but it was just too hot and humid while I was there it didn't make sense. But now that its cooling down in North Carolina, they are coming back out of the closet!!
I was just thinking..."GenxGypsy should do a video on how her packing went". Not enough travel vloggers show the results of the planning we all do before a trip. Great content! It's ironic, I didn't bring my travel blanket on my last trip, and I missed it in our first apartment. (They provided a huge thick comforter and no AC in hot weather) Also, We flew economy plus and I didn't use my turtle neck pillow very much. I think I will leave it home next time. Keep up the good content!! from, Kathy
Thank you!! I figure if I'm going to make mistakes, as many people should learn from them as possible, LOL! I have a future video I'm doing about the lessons I learned (or re-learned) from traveling 30 days straight 😊
I have this toothbrush too and love that even on longer trips I don’t need to worry about bringing the charger. I charge it before I go simply because I usually can’t remember the last time I charged, it lasts so long, but I would probably be fine even if I forgot.
It was fabulous!! I'm putting together a Fall Weekend get-away packing video and you could pack everything you need in the backpack, as well as being a fantastic personal item bag 😊
My husband and I visited London for 10 days recently. We arrived at the last few days of a heatwave there and I used that same little fan multiple times since a/c isn’t consistently used there. At the end of our trip, we had a couple rainy days and my packable Columbia rain jacket came in handy. I brought a neck pillow and never once used it on the plane, so that was an extra bulky item I didn’t need. I’d also purchased a seat back organizer for the plane and didn’t even bring it so wasted money there. 🙄 However I did bring and use a cashmere pashmina on the plane to wrap up in. I have the same toiletry organizer as yours and it was perfect. I learned a lot from my packing this trip for next time. 😊
Great feedback!! I've been considering a cashmere pashmina to replace my blanket because it has so many uses, do you have a brand you would recommend?... maybe I'll put it on my Christmas List 😊
Thank you so much for this awesome video, and for presenting the mature woman’s point of view! I have learned so many tips and tricks from you and can’t wait to put them to use on an upcoming trip. Please keep your videos coming, I absolutely love them!
I just returned from 12 days in Switzerland and I used the Baggallini Tribeca expandable backpack as my personal item, and it was worth every penny! I got in on sale. It had so much room to hold a lot of stuff, so many pockets, lightweight, luggage sleeve. And stylish! But I forgot a packable backpack for day trips and regretted that. Oh well! Each trip is a learning lesson for your next adventure! :)
Hiii! They sell rechargeable toothbrush here. I used to have one. U just replace the head. They sell packs of the replacements too. I stopped using them when i switched to bamboo brushes. I bought the backpack that u recommended. And it was on sale so as soon as i got my first one, i bought another one. But i was sad because it's not really waterproof 😭 the stuff in the 1st 2 pockets got wet. The main compartment didnt because i had an umbrella. It was just the splashes outside of the umbrella. But still it was soaked. I was gonna buy another anello faux leather bag (thats what i always use and most japanese people use) but i liked that lovevook had an organization system inside. But for me, my bag being waterproof is more important
I have been eye balling the Lovenook backpack for an upcoming trip and super appreciate your after travel review on it. I saw you pack it and wanted ro know your thoughts. I can not believe you didn't use turtle lol glad to hear though, you just saved me some money....well saved me the money until I get to NYC and spend it all lol Love your videos, I'm over 40 and appreciate that the content is incredibly relevant for me!! Thanks again!
You're welcome 😊. I've had my turtle for about 4 years now, and I may have actually used it about 5 times. When I've needed it though, it does work well! It's best for those non-international long flights... like North Carolina to Alaska or Hawaii. The airlines aren't so generous on those flights, LOL!
Great video!! A lot of the things that you have I also have (from watching all the travel you tube videos! LOL) - but it was really helpful to see what you actually used and things you didn't need at all. Loved it. Also - I am also a Kindle lover. I do have an iPad, however, I use my kindle every day and would never go on a trip without it! The size is great to hold - so much easier than the iPad. I will never not travel with my Kindle!!
Yep, I never travel ANYWHERE without a rain jacket and an umbrella. Even if I've checked the weather and it says no rain. Too easily packed, yet too easily needed if not packed.
I’ve been taking a Colgate toothbrush that uses a AAA battery and it is lighter than the Oral-B ( which I also own). I also don’t feel clean enough unless I use an electric toothbrush.
What do you recommend packing for rain? I'm thinking for bottom half protection specifically... Foldable rain coats are easy enough to find but not sure about waterproof shorts/pants!
I noticed in a couple of your cut-away videos you had three bags. Did you consolidate when you took your flights or did you give one bag to one of your companions to carry for the flight? Your videos are always interesting.
I will have a full video about the temple stay, it was awesome!! It's probably going to be in a few weeks...I'm so behind on the vlogs because they take so much longer to edit 😊
I’m bummed out that the Reef sandals were a bust. You compelled me to buy a pair. I’m going to Greece next week and now I’m rethinking about taking them
Mine are a little loose on me, so they caused quite a bit of friction when I was power walking around the city. I wear them ALL the time here at home, in fact I've worn them the past three days. If you're going to be doing a lot of walking tours, especially up and down the hilly terrain of Greece and the shoes are loose on you, I would probably leave them at home. However, if you're going to use them for going out to dinner or down to the beach for short distances (or they actually fit "snugly") then you should be fine. Sorry I may have led you in a wrong direction 😬. But GREECE! That's going to be a beautiful trip, perfect time to go there!
How presumptuous of some people thinking everyone owns a iPad! Not everyone likes or wants Apple products. Some folks like to home on to their money and spend it more wisely. The kindle is the perfect booksize device for traveling. Much more comfortable to travel with than a clunky iPad.
Love my Kindle Paperwhite when I'm travelling as the light is restful for my eyes in the evening, and the battery lasts for days and days.
I also make myself a packing recap so that I can learn what worked and what didn't. What I find is that different types of travel require different types of items packed. Great video!
Oh absolutely agree! Unless you are doing the same trip to the same place every time, your packing experience is going to be as different as the trip you are taking :)
I have day backpack good for my back. And packing extrem light minimalist.
Just found your content and love it! Haven’t been traveling much but intend to change that! About the travel blanket, based on multiple videos done by flight attendants, those airline blankets are rarely cleaned! Not going to use them next to my body! I’m going to get my own!
Oral B makes a toothbrush that works on a replaceable aaa battery.
I have one of those, but it feels so bulky to take with me...the travel one is much slimmer and lighter. But if I lose some of the other stuff I didn't use, I'll have room for it 😊
Phillips One by Sonicare rechargable or battery
I am off to the UK for six weeks next year! By myself! At 70......thank you for all your wonderful advice xxxxx❤
That's awesome!! I'm so excited for you 😊💖
I’ve been watching your videos preparing for a trip to Israel 🎉 I’ve noticed your hair color transformation and I LOVE it!!

That is an adapter not a voltage converter and 220 volts will destroy 110 volt hair dryers and hot tools..
I almost always buy an inexpensive umbrella when I go to Asia (I buy it after I arrive, they make nice little gifts or souvenirs). They are great for sun as well as rain and they keep the rain off of your day pack as well as your person. I have exact fan. Liked the fan and flashlight, but the power bank too Forever. 😲
I’m going to Japan in April. Love all of your tips! I’m already planning my packing. I find it fun and challenging!
Thanks! Very helpful. We have a 32 days trip next year to the Med/Holy Land. By the way, I love my Quip toothbrush for travel!
Thank you for the review of what worked for you. I'm definitely getting the lovevook backpack after your revieiw. I have been on the fence about it.
It was fabulous!! I'm putting together a Fall Weekend get-away packing video and you could pack everything you need in the backpack, as well as being a fantastic personal item bag 😊
It will definitely be my personal item for my trip to England in May.
The electrical block you called a converter is actually an adapter, which is a major difference. 😮

Your hair looks so beautiful!! My suggestion is make a video on your hair!
I'm thinking about it... what would you like to know about "the hair" ? 😄
Hi, love this video and all your tips, where did you get your belt bag that is shown at the end of the video?
Thank you!! I actually got my sling bag at TJ Maxx, but this one on Amazon is very similar to it: amzn.to/3pTMZhE
I can never leave home without my travel pillow! Even this week on my 1 hour flight it’s coming along haha.

The rain jacket. Do you sweat in it at all or is it pretty breathable?
What size is your packable backpack? They show 3 sizes.

The packable backpack is 16L: amzn.to/42PE8vy

I have one of those small chargers. I used it on. Trip and I wasn’t impressed. Stay with the one you have
Good to know!! Thank you for sharing 😊
How presumptuous of some people thinking everyone owns a iPad! Not everyone likes or wants Apple products. Some folks like to home on to their money and spend it more wisely.
The kindle is the perfect booksize device for traveling. Much more comfortable to travel with than a clunky iPad.
Kindles are great is like reading paper, but reading on a IPad hurts my eyes.
You have beautiful hair.
Oh thank you! 😊
