Personally, I think it's over rated. I lived there for 8 years until I moved to the Netherlands. I don't think the car scene is as big in Malaysia as it is here. Probably because people here have more money to spend on cars unlike in Malaysia.
imagine how much better the world would be if this was legal for qualified drivers
Most police won't care because
-usually they took place in rural highway areas and usually not much traffic
-the police can't catch up (they have sick cars but still law makes them drive only at 110kmph)
-most of the people caught are lalas (local term for ricers) which "race" in high populated areas and at crowded roads endangering everyone and giving tuners a bad name
@@then00brathalos Compare that to the UK, if you're caught going 2mph over the speed limit in a sporty looking car they bring out a dozen cops and a helicopter just to give you a ticket XD. It aint gonna put me off tho.

A fast, serious driver who is 101% paying attention is at the bottom of the danger list.
Yea these guys aren’t driving drunk or on their phones etc and they know what they are doing probably much safer than what a lot of people do

At the very least these so called "street hooligans" can be quite friendly if you just let them pass and even willing to share few tips or two on how to handle your car better
karen and the rest is far more worse than street racers
the problem is not directly them but some other driver on the road might get scared and do something stupid
It's true. The biggest danger on the road are the "normal" drivers who don't bother to dedicate more effort and attention. They consider it just a bothersome chore that's inevitable if you want to get from A to B. No concept of how a car that "drives well" would even feel like. An SUV is a pretty good car, right? If I crash into someone, they probably get hurt more than me!
1) Car driving normally will either maintain speed or let them pass automatically on this road
2) Cops don't give a single Fuck on this road unless you crash into something.
3)You need big balls to drive fast on this road because you never know if there is going to be a car at the exit of each corners.
4)Friday Night, Saturday Night and Sunday night
5)If you see a Myvi (Daihatsu Boon / Toyota Passo), let him pass. Why? Myvi will kick your ass even if you drive a GT-R in Malaysia.

I am a former racer. Normies watching this video will have no eye for times where they endangered innocent civilians, and they'll leave thinking this is harmless fun. Below is a list.
2:00 - Black jerks to the left lane attempting to overtake White and audibly slams the brakes to narrowly avoid rear-ending a taxi before returning right.
7:07 - Near rear-end situation, maybe just a foot of space, no excuse here since it wasn't even ideal racing line. Likely just wasn't thinking straight due to adrenaline and pressure.
12:47 - Not POV racer's fault (except in so far as he is racing in the first place), but right lane civilian is drunk, tired, or dumb, looks like he was about to shift to left lane without signal, goes back into his lane as POV racer scares him.
14:14 - POV driver handbrake drifts with Red right next to him in the other lane. My guess is Red was forced to give up part of his lane or shoulder cut just for this guy's flexing. This isn't as bad since they are doing it to each other and maybe they communicated about it.
whole vid - Cutting into oncoming lane. It's a matter of prudence that most racers with the chance to will do for ideal racing line, but this is a situation where there are already 2-4 lanes for the racers to use without cutting.
whole vid - Shoulder cutting blind on corners. The temptation to blind shoulder tricks is universal for every racer, + it is often ideal racing line, but the plain fact is that if there is a stopped car on any blind shoulder you're going to slam into it at 60 mph and kill those people.
I loved racing, but I had to quit due to too many close calls. There's nothing else like it though and true enthusiasts should think of a solution. There has to be a better way than rolling the dice on killing people every night, going into debt to race at boring tracks, or never exceeding 40 mph in monthly autocross. Touge in the middle of nowhere is the best, but then people who don't live in mountains are screwed.
Thnx for the insight. No matter what i still think street race is dangerous for both, the racer and civilian. Racing in a rented circuit in other hand is fine, as long as the drivers know their limit and manners to each others
thanks for this, i noticed a lot of dangerous behavior in this video and was confused by the comments saying they were safe and respectful when there were multiple close calls. i enjoy watching drag races but can’t take part in them for the reasons shown in this video lol
Did not read all, someawhat agree. No one need to be like this at busy traffic, but saying ur a former racer is like saying u know everything. I know this beacuse I`m a former nascar driver😬

This takes me back to 2013 when I was driving my first car, a 1991 Mazda RX7 convertible (slightly modified for grip and cooling) through the road that stretches and winds between Grants Pass, Oregon, and Crescent City, California.
My only regret was not recording any of it. I was going 30-35 through 15mph bends, between 60-70mph through 35-45mph bends, and an average cruising speed of 80-95mph on the 55mph bends/straights, in a 160hp, unmodified, naturally aspirated 13B.
My greatest claim to going fast in that car is when I was driving south on I-5 and I pushed that 160hp RX7 to 150mph, in broad daylight. I got *SUPER* lucky, because by the time a cop was behind me, I was back to doing the speed limit, and the cop had NO IDEA that the guy that he was looking for, was right in front of him! He was riding my ass, but didn't flash his lights at me. I pulled forward in front of this semi-truck that was next to us, got in front of said truck, and the cop just floored it past me. I stayed back about a dozen car lengths, in the slow lane, and tried to match his speed. He accelerated to 110mph with no police lights flashing, trying to catch me. Again, *he had no clue the guy he was looking for was RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM*
That was the first *_and last_* time I went anywhere near 150mph on the highway.
Fun Fact: I can tell this story because in California, the statute of limitations for reckless driving is 1 year after it happened, and this story takes place in 2013.
Nice Story, very fun to hear :D
Hwy 199 is such a fun and beautiful drive. I ran it in a 06 NC GT Miata, and that is singlehandedly the #1 thing i miss the most about living up that way.

One thing I'd say to take from this video is always, ALWAYS, *ALWAYS* avoid traffic that's not in the race. It's some of the most fun/adrenaline pumping/exciting things you can do in a car, but no amount of fun or pride in winning is worth wanging yourself or somebody else. Plus the police generally *really* hate this kind of thing because odds are on that they've had to be there to scrape young people who either made a mistake or had a mechanical failure off the pavement. Point is: you can do it, I won't tell you not to because I myself have done it, but just be super careful. Also know your car's limits better than the back of your hand because the second you go past that point it can get super messy, I overcompensated my steering on a corner in my car trying to drift (my car is an FWD and super not made for drifting like *at all*) and I nearly flipped it into a ditch because I went past my car's limit. Just be careful man, the car community gets a lot of shit but it has to watch out for its own.

If you are wondering where is this, it is the Genting uphill road, towards the casino and resort world, most of the races is between 12am to 4am, police don't give a single fuck in this road because they don't want to ruin their Evo 10 or FK8. this thing is dangerous, almost killed me 2 times already in this road. it marks for me to stop. i don't want to do this anymore but feel free if you want to see this type of races, wait around midnight at BHP Gombak, Petronas Genting Sempah or at the intesection at the genting gate
Such videos are always interesting to watch, but I still believe that public roads are not good for racing especially not if it´s the amount of traffic. It´s not full streets, where they are racing, but still dangerous to the uninvolved few. and that´s a risk I wouldn´t be able to ignore. there need to be better spots or other times where even less traffic is on the road. because in this video alone were some blind corners, where the racers got really close to other cars and endangered them. and all the times they went on the oncomming lane. there were no accidents this time but this can´t be granted and one time something will happe and innocent people will suffer in the end. I think thats not tolerable.
