@@pjbj12 Will always be impossible to say since many candidates are no longer with us. Also, access to many of today's specialized resources were not available to masters like Morphy, so was Morphy relying more on his personal skill than what we see today? Impossible to say for sure.

Regarding the mic settings, you sounded a bit quieter on vacation, but I figure that's just because maybe you couldn't be too loud to avoid annoying the neighbors or something, so it's kinda hard to compare. Personally I think the way it is here and usually is great and doesn't need changing.

I prefer the sound on this setup as opposed to the one you were using when traveling. This sounds more crisp and clear to me.

Theres more echo in this home set up than the road set up, but I think i agree with your sentiment that the saturation was a bit much for the road set up compared to this one. It's a drier, crisper sound.

Someone needs to invent resurrection of the dead because I think watching Jose Raul Capablanca vs Magnus Carlsen in an endgame competition would be the greatest spectacle in all of chess history for me. So many endgames won by Carlsen today and he just makes it look so effortless. Excellent description of the games as usual too Levy, despite being so jetlagged. Thanks.

This mic setup is better IMO. The travel mic makes sweet and compressed and punchy audio but is more tiring to listen to for a long time. Your usual setup sounds very clean and natural and nice, and leaves room for dynamics and pop-off moments. :)
I love that you are able to relate to what he is/has and is presently thinking about what all the others are thinking about before they are thinking about what the were going to think about, but there is larger contingency of MCP followers that arent on the same wave length as u r,howevertho if u want a larger audience then appeal to us who also love the MCP factor but dont connect or relate to the "every move" commentary,,, it meams alot to you, bcs you are functionally able to access that part of your brain that connects, comprehends and digs the ergonomics of the minutias of all that, but believe it or not,,, to the vast majority of us, who like myself see unbridled brilliance and love unbridled brilliance and want the skin and bone and heart of it and not so much an exegesis of the endocrine system,,,, jus'say'n

Although from a sonic fidelity the vacation mic is better, I think the normal setup fits your content better, it feels more conversational which is your biggest strength, and therefore should be what is highlighted.

Regarding the microphone settings. It's fine from the eq perspective but your room echos like an absolute cave. Some foam pading on the wall to block the sound reflections would be nice.
