Great job guys. they turned out really nice. If you want the inside to be smooth as well you need to shake the cement in the mold while its still wet to remove the bubbles. You can do this by using your palm sander on the outside of the mold to vibrate all the bubbles out.

Portland cement and beach sand makes beautiful pots....cement is what you need to make concrete....You're suppose to tap your containers to get the bubbles to the top....If you're going to paint your projects, mist them with water, it'll take the paint better....Take care

I love seeing fails. It comforts me to know that it’s not perfect (like mine) on the first try. Our motto at work is Be wrong WITH CONFIDENCE! That motto follows me when I craft.

Lol...This reminded me of when I tried concrete crafts. Luckily my neighbour who works in concrete helped me. He said you should never use part of a bag of any concrete or cement because parts of it can settle to the bottom and shaking them to mix is impossible. Now I buy the premixed containers unless I am doing something that takes a whole bag!!!

These are cute. Love the gnome. He would be so cute on a bigger scale painted for a garden. Love yard art that isn't able to walk off my property.....if you get my drift!!!! Giggled at the added laugh track in the background during the first attempt....nice touch. Kim, Garrett needs to wear cut proof gloves when using sharp objects. Thought he was going to lose a finger🤢 That message board is my house....strange how a simple "discussion " escalates into a mountain out of a mole hill. Someday my family will understand this saying.....I hope🤔🤔🤔

If u use Portland cement and a fine grain sand it will work better. I haven’t been doing this craft very long but I have become really good at the mix. If u use a 60/40 sand it’s moldable. Like if u are needing to make a tree stump. But use more cement in the mix for that.

Once again you entertained me. I laughed outloud. We all have these epic fails the first go around. I wanted concrete countertops for the longest time. Did you know you can add color to the cement?

@@KimandGarrettmakeit I do love how you guys jump in there and show your mistakes, show how you learned the process. It helps all of us know it is ok to just get in there and try it! We all make mistakes, and it is just fine to do that and best part, we all get to learn something new along the journey!

Curious what grit sand paper you used to sand down the planters. Something like 60/80?

So true concrete has large aggregate in it. That just cemented this. I’ve got a concrete idea you won’t be doing that again. Lol either way it’s hard
