It would have made more sense in the movies if Bolg was seeking to avenge his father Azog. Otherwise, Azog's drive to wipe out Durin's bloodline doesn't have an explanation. For Bolg, this drive for revenge and raising an army would have worked better.
I still think it would've worked just as well if Azog was indeed dead and Bolg was simply acting under his name. There was no reason to make that change in these movies, but that's far from the worst alterations.
I love the hobbit movies and have ever since they came out. The battle for Moria was one of my favourite moments from the first movie and I was surprised to learn how different the battle was from the movies and the books
I do not prefer the changes but they make sense. It is clear that goal of the changes was to focus the backstory more around Thorin while making it a tighter background for the events.
i like the hobbit films, im not one to get crazy made over a book adaptation thats childish, id like it to have been more in line, but PJ was forced to make 3 films from a small book. and he made it work
I think Azog dying at Moria and his son Bolg being the antagonist in the Hobbit is a better storyline than Azog surviving in the movies. Bolg could be seeking revenge for his fathers death.
The main beneficiary of the war of the dwarves and orcs and its end note of the battle of the five armies, was the free peoples in the war of the ring as the above conflicts completely wiped out any allies in the north, that Sauron might have made use of and forced him to divert a great portion of his overall military force to attack Erabor and Dale, while building up a new powerbase in dol guldur and replacing orcs with own mordor orces to attack the elves powers there. That would never be sufficiently powerful enough to overwhelm the power of the elves and northern free peoples.
I liked the Hobbit movies, no where near as much as The Lord of Rings movies though. Peter Jackson didn't have the luxury of time like he had with the other movies. Could have been trimmed down to two movies, cut out the romance bit, some of CGI, leave Azog dead. I did like some of side story with the White Council, but got off a little bit. I think had the time to plan like he did for The Lord of the Rings and left out some of the CGI it would have been a lot bettet.
I thought they took too many liberties with the Hobbit trilogy. The worst were the romance between the elven maiden and the dwarf (don't remember their names), and making Radagast look like a buffoon; it wasn't funny at all. Having Gandalf saved by Galadriel was a bit of a stretch, but not nearly as bad as the other two.
The white council I thought were depicted amazingly, better than the Galadriel we got in Rings of Power who’s basically just Wonder Woman. I mean Galadriel is seriously powerful she lived through the first and second age and was born in valinor during the two trees. So seeing a puny orc be swatted away by Galadriel was serious cool not that horse crap she did in ROP with the oversized sword
But I'm more disappointed is beorn look like a tiny large bead I prefer him being the size of a mountain his roar like thunder and drum and gun and him only massacre the entire goblin army smash azog son like a bug
Sauron forged the rings to control everyone. Then the elves learned about it and crated the poem which lists all the rings. But how can a part of this poem appear on the ONE RING, if it was created before the poem?
Yes, good question. So when Sauron forged the ring, he inscribed the lines into it, and then chanted the verse as he put on the ring. The elves heard/felt him recite these and they knew he had betrayed them and sought dominion. It doesn't say if the dwarves felt this, or the men, and I'm not sure if they were gifted before or after his reveal. Either way the full poem was created afterwards, Saurons verse being the center body of the poem.
They were having issues then. The Wood Elven King had a war with Dwarves. They did some work for him with jewels. Then, according to the dwarves, he refused to pay them. Tolkien wrote that if the Elven King had a weakness, it was for gems. And leaves it at that. No race was perfect in Tolkien's World.
i liked Peter Jacksons movies and i loved it since i consider it the last from the great movies before this woke crap but i would loved to see it as tolkinian as possible.Great hopes for a fan made sSilmarillion since the mainstream cinematography is dead.
I like the Peter Jackson film and it grows on me, but I cannot be reconciled to the appearance of Thorin, Fili and Kili, who look more like Hollywood leading men than dwarves. Perhaps I'm being silly, but to me there is a nasty whiff of racism. Also the question of connubial relations between a dwarf and an elf is awkward. I don't think that sort of thing is ever hinted at by Tolkien, which suggests a biological incompatibility.
if Amazon only had the appendices....then they could have easily done the series about this War instead of that bull crap they did instead while making excuses about how "little" they could do.
Peter Jackson butchered The Hobbit. Didn't like the changes at all I really thought there was no need for it. Show the books on the screen as it was written and the movies would have been as good as the books, what's so f****** difficult about that? But Noooo everybody thinks they can do it better than Tolkien. Which amazes me because this guy was a professor spoke something like 14 or 15 language and had academic degrees out the yin yang. And these people think they can do better than him? (Amazon I'm talking about you too) I just don't understand this arrogance.
damn, Kazad are epic, and then in english theri called dwarves and to me it ruins the cool Kuzdul people of Aule, when i think of dwarves I think of Snow white until i watched thee movies
Definitely wasn't a fan of the changes to the book, some was okay.. but to many liberties. They were enjoyable as is, but not as taken from the books. You could tell, he didnt know the Hobbit as well as the LotR books.
As for PJs changes. This comes from a person who never read the books only saw the ranking bass cartoons. Then Lord of the rings then The Hobbit. Focus on The Hobbit, there was a magic missing there. That magic that was in the Lord of the rings was gone completely in The Hobbit. Felt like a cash grab. So much seem to be spent on spectacle rather than storytelling and developing the characters. I never got to do Thorn Open shield. I knew who Bilbo was but honestly there was not much development there either my opinion. Lastly the only thing that made it interesting was Gandalf. Yeah he wasn't able to capture a lightning in a bottle like you did before Best he got work a couple of fireflies. Remember this is from someone who's not steeped in the lower. Just someone who's represents probably the vast majority of the people out there watching these shows. Someone who loves fantasy and sci-fi and went into it with an open mind and came out disappointed.
I hated the Azog-Thorin grudge from the beginning, didn't belong since Azog was dead. Made the movies dumber than they already were. I was enjoying the first movie until they introduced that tripe. The utterly ridiculous goblin/dwarf fight scenes lasted way too long. Could've made a decent double movie including the attack on Sauron, but suits wanted three movies and what we got was pretty unimaginative. Really good dragon though.
Any change from the original book is a dumbing-down, catering to Americans and any others who have difficulty with reading and writing. The fundamental problem is that literature and film are two completely different media. Film is OK for effects and flash-bang-wallop, but struggles with anything sophisticated. The Harry Potter franchise is exactly the same. If you have the intelligence and the attention span, read the books.
How is it catering to Americans? I'm an American who has read several of Tolkien's works, multiple times over. I also know quite a few other Americans who have as well.
Of course! The point being that books and films are like chalk & cheese. Films are ok for flash-bang-wallop film-effects that cater to the chld-like or infantile. The problem arises when cartoon-book stuff like that is taken a canon, and actually discussed as valid. Its just unfortunate that 99% of films are american made and/or funded.@@donaldlambert83

Dwarf-orc wars are Pyrrhic victory for the dwarves.
Nice work dude thanks
I understand the changes made in the film Azog made a great villain in the film
Patreon shout out😂 13:07 watch out

Love your vids
So there we have it.
This is cool! What about the Awkening of Men?!
nice video
Thank you 😁
I Always thought that when Dain looked into Moria he didnt really see the Barlog but he could just sense its evil and knew it wasnt time
Either way, imagine dealing the Mafia a crippling blow, only to find C'thulhu lurking around the corner.

Yeah I didn't like that s*** either. I thought it was stupid.
Same. That romance nonsense aggravated me 😡
Gotta stretch that into a trilogy 😂😂😂

I still think it was the dumbest shit ever to have the elves jump over a phalanx....
I would have preferred to just see the elves rise up behind the phalanx and just unload waves and waves of arrows
@@johnc2631 exactly.
I prefer the movies. I don't like that Thorin was so nerfed in the books, the movie did him more justice

Why didn't the elves help the Dwarves?
Maybe they didn't know or didn't Care
