- My review on the Michelin PS4S on a 2020 Camaro ZL11LE. I’m going into the specs on the tire as well as it’s competitors. Namely the Good Year Eagle Supercar 3, the Good Year Eagle Supercar 3R, the Continental Extreme Contact Sport, as well as the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. We will be discussing the tread design, tread depth, and subjective feel of the PS4S compared to my experience with daily driving the Good Year SC3 and SC3R. As a ZL1 owner with stock 20" and a 19" staggered set up for more width front and rear 305 / 325 30 R19, I couldn't agree more. SC3's are the legit tire for the platform.
I bought Michelin pilot sport all season for my 192S us Camaro. They are quiet. They ride super well and they bite better than I ever expected. I am really satisfied.
I've driven in heavy rain and at forty degrees and push It in corners. No comparison to the goodyear junk
If you live in the Northeast with cooler temps and more wet driving you may have a difference option about the PS4S tire. But point taken.
Would like to see how you feel about them after 1-2K miles. All new tires are a little greasy and need to be heat cycled just a few times before they reach their maximum grip levels. I've never installed a new set of tires and been happy with their performance right away. If you already have a few thousand miles on these and still feel like they're lacking grip, then that's really dissapointing. I had a set of these on my wife's C8 Corvette Z51 and never had any traction issues at all. That being said, the car only makes 500hp and obviously the mid engine platform helps tremendously so it's probably a little apples to oranges comparison.
Thanks for the review i am checking to leave the 3r only for track and buy a set for the streets and my 3 options are the ones you have mentioned, the mayority says the Michelin, then the good year non R and then the continental, thank you
I put Conti DWS06 plus on the rear SS 1LE for cold conditions, and it's my biggest regret. The rear end is not planted under throttle, and the rear end sways during quick lane changes from the softer sidewalls.
Debating going back to the SC3 or possibly PS4S
That's precisely what happened to me, I have an SS 1le 2022 and I put 305/30/r20 NItto NT555 G2 on the back and the car went from being light and nimble with the Goodyear SC3, to having a lot of delay with the steering and stabilization. The next time, I will buy Goodyear SC3

Yes same here, I just bought Contis6 plus I heard how great they are as the extreme contact 02 are back ordered til late fall. And I regret it except they r great rain tire. But it took complete fun outta my zl1 high speed cornering hard turns. Way too soft.
Thanks for the info. I have 2015 ZL1(bought Nov 2021 with only 4700 miles so original Goodyear Supercar) and live in Minnesota so looking for a tire that isn't summer only. I thought I would get the Michelin PS4S, but concerned they are not a ran flat tire.
I've heard more opinions on people that live in the wet and cold that the PS4S hook better 🤔
Do Nitto NT555 G2s hook from a dig better than Michelin Pilot Sport 4s??
I just got the continental extreme contacts for a lt1 making close to 500 wheel. I'll see how it feels but I'm hoping they grip for this power level

@milliebays1801 they are a pretty good tire so far. Good summer grip, decent rain performance. id give them a 8/10. They can take a 30 roll but they're definitely no drag radial.
damn, how much power do you have breaking loose at 96? so for im thrilled with my ps4s.
i went through 2 sets of f1s which were a good tire imo.
but these michelins feel like a much better tire on dry or wet roads.
650hp/650lbft of torque and it actually just happened again while I was full throttle entering the freeway. TCS went full on when the car shifted. It was 52 degrees
I have the mps4s 295 on my 2020 mustang gt. On stock power they do great. I'm up north and when the temp drops they don't do so well but that's expected. I'm boosting the car now and should be around 650whp. I just hope they'll put down the power when warm outside on a 2nd gear pull.
I'm looking for a tire that will hold 715whp, how well are the tires after you added boost?
@@corrosivepyro I have a centrifical supercharger so the power comes on high in the rpms. First gear is spin city but that's expected. If the weather and tires are warm the tires do great on a 2nd gear hit. I'm at 600whp so you might have different results especially with a positive displacement blower
@lobbyrobby thanks for the quick reply. I'm twin turboed with 3.91 gears so maybe these tires will be ok. The speedshop recommends R888 but I read that the tires are very sketchy in the rain and it's a Daily Driver. So rain is a big concern. Definitely looking in to the Michelins.
@@corrosivepyro I'm happy with them. They're probably one of the best street tires available. As I mentioned I'm not putting down huge power, I'm not out racing all the time and I still enjoy a car that does great in corners. Plus the tread wear is also decent. I have no desire to be replacing tires every 10,000 miles. If you're planning on changing out the wheels you could run a bigger tire which would also help with traction.
I have a 2005 Mustang GT and planning on doing a 2nd gen coyote swap with a Whipple supercharger down the road, I want to put 295/45r18 tires on 18x10 rims but that leaves me with only Michelin pilot sport 4s or Nitto NT555 G2, which one would you say will hook better from a dig??
These tires came stock on my Mach 1. They're...ok. Cold, absolutely no traction whatsoever. When warm, they're alright. From a dig, you're gonna spin your ass off. Useless for launching. On a roll, the back end still steps out rowdy when the 10 speed downshifts, but it does hook and run from a roll. I wish there were better options for traction.
Did it help with ride comfort over bumps? I went from the PSS to PS4S on my Focus RS (another car with infamously awesome ride quality) and the ride quality greatly improved. They are phenomenal tires on the RS. My plan, if I got a 1LE was that I’d get some PS4S tires to hopefully fix the ride complaints.
The traction issues on acceleration are a potential issue though. Has it improved?
The traction did get better and the ride definitely is absolutely smoother
But I don’t like them. The car feels wishy washy but civil
@@the_track_enthusiast I’m glad to hear traction improved. After I saw the GT500 also ran on PS4S tires, I figured they should be able to handle LT4 power.
have you tried toyo r888r ? wonder how it will perform in rear wheel drive car and the different with pilot 4s..
I haven’t tried them because they’re known for being as noisy as a mud tire
I have a 2021 zl1 1le put on 4s still wont grip the track tire is a joke that came with it
Goodyear eagle f1s need heat in them because they’re a track tire dude lol
Been through all of this, the Good Years are so much better it's almost beyond belief, very disappointed in the Michelin, several brands performed better than the Michelin's.

What’s the difference in tire life . 3’s probably will wear too fast and it’s a staggers fit so will get expensive

My problem is the 3 Rs throw every rock at my ZL1 1LE... I live in the country dirty roads and can't stand it!!!! Would the non 3 Rs still throw rocks? does anyone know ? PLEASE HELP ME!!
They will but A Lot less. I just had my fenders PPFd.

I agree with you 100000%. I see the people are just followers. The OEM tire is better. I wouldn't even put those tires on a SS 1le. They still spin. People will argue with you. Let them follow the heard.
I used to own an SS 1LE. The car didn't spin too much with 4s. Was great for road rallies. My 1le still drove the best on the factory SC3.
All objective measurable tests show that the Michelin PS4S are the best max summer performance tires, bar none.
Ps4s are far better than what comes on the SS 1LE. The following isn’t just hype.

At only 3100lbs and 350hp its not a heavy powerful car like the Camaro. I bought the Porsche spec N0 Michelin 4s tires. And I delaminated them them in one track day at buttonwillow. Now I have a set of Goodyear for the track and I save use Michelins for the road only. Now the 4s isn't even the best in the wet.
Supercar 3 and supercar 3r are dramatically different tires 😊
Goodyear tires are trash
Good Year are the best you can get.

You’ve obviously never driven the ZLE 1LE! I’ve had and driven almost everything and I can tell you that the new Camaro is an amazing car and far from trash !

Nothing wrong with 5th gens cheaper to get and can build them up to be faster than a ZL1 instead of dropping 60k+ on a ZL1 stock tbh.
