Nicolas Flamel was actually a real person and alchemist who died in the early 1400s. After his death there was a legend that he discovered the philosophers stone and became immortal.
Yeah someone else mentioned that too. That’s great trivia.
In a way, he reached a kind of immortality. We’re still talking about him.
I saw him in Fantastic beasts, so I do know a bit more about him now.
Actually, the thing is that his date of death was not recorded - that anyone could find - so a sort of joke/legend grew up around it that he was still alive!
Great catch on noticing that Ron’s mom made Harry a sweater too! Your powers of observation will serve you well in these movies 👏
I try, thanks 😊
OMG, referring to Draco as the "golden snitch". You had me rolling. Never heard a reactor make that connection before. Brilliant...sounds like we'll have a lot of that from you. Can't wait for more...
Thanks man, I have a weird mind 😆
heard that 5 times from reactors lmao
Harry's money is all family money. The potters were an old rich wizarding family and James was the only one left when he was killed (his parents had already died) so all of it went to Harry.
The movies age Harry's parents up a fair bit (mainly to account for Alan Rickman who is supposed to be the same age) but James and Lily were only 21 when they were killed by Voldemort.
Sadly the actor who plays Dumbledore in this film and the next died and so the role is taken over by Michael Gambon from film 3 onwards
Oh wow, that last fact caught me off guard. I liked him as well, his voice and presence was authoritative. He reminded me of Charles Dance (plays Tywin Lannister in GOT) the same kind of presence, he just commands respect. I thought he was perfect for the headmaster role. May he R.I.P.
@@AffanReacts the Dumbledore in the first two movies is closer to the Dumbledore in the books
@@AffanReacts Peter O'Toole played the first Dumbledore. He was an extremely famous, award winning actor in the 1960s. Roles included King Henry II and TE Lawrence in "Lawrence of Arabia."
@@SG-js2qn it’s NOT Peter O’Toole, it’s Richard Harris, then later Michael Gambon. Richard Harris is most known (in this day and age anyway) for his roles in “Unforgiven”, “Patriot Games”, and “Gladiator “. But he’s been in movies since 1958.
@@caitlinseaton7546 Oh, argh. Thank for the correction. Clearly I slipped a cog.
Professor Quaffle, I'm dead🤣
😂
fun fact: all the plants Snape mentioned actually exist, and so does the Bezoar. It won't safe you from poisons though, obviously ;)
That’s what muggles think. 😉
You asked a question about why Aunt Petunia and her family treat Harry so bad and its literally just jealousy. His mom (her sister) was a wizard and she (Petunia) didnt have powers so she wasnt "special". Which drove her to hate her sister and her sister's husband and be default, Harry.
Yeah They cleared that up in that light house scene with Hagrid, she calls Harry and her mother freaks, which I understand I mean many people even today view people different from them as freaks, which is just sad and honestly pathetic.
About the chess part, it also got me confused the first few times I watched, but the books make it a little more clear that they (the trio) were supposed to be pieces in the game, Harry takes up the role of a bishop, Hermione of a Rook and Ron of a Knight. For this reason, in case he left the knight's back before being hit, it could be considered an illegal move, hence, something bad could happen (only speculation bc we actually never see it, so we will never know if they'd lose, die, or whatever penalty it is for not following the rules). This is why Harry tells Hermione not to move when Ron is hit... Since they are still playing, if she moved she could mess it up and ruin the checkmate Ron prepared.
Well, it's not very explicit but this is what I took from it.
BTW, great reaction, might be the best Harry Potter reaction I have seen yet (and I have seen dozens hahaha)!
Good job!
a lot of others mentioned that as well about the book. I think they should have stuck to that cuz this made it very confusing.
Thanks 😊 I honestly just did what I normally do. Some people find it very annoying 😂
Wow! Great kid photo of you as Harry Potter!!!!!🤣🤣🤣👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Great movie, great opener. When I was younger this used to be really high in my rankings but it has gone down a little since
"Who was Voldemort afraid of again?... Nigel?" Hahahaaah
I'm telling you, it's Nigel! he's trynna hide it but we know...
Finally, My wait is Over..!!!
😆
I enjoyed this video! I hope you continue to finish the entire series. I can't wait for you to reach the third movie onward where it gets darker and more matured.
I will be watching the entire series 😊
Yay! I love this first movie because happy endings are nice. The series kinda gets darker as it goes on 😅
This isn’t explained in the movie, but the House points are pretty visible to everyone. There are four giant goblets that represent each house in the hallway, and they fill up with gems (emeralds for Slytherin, rubies for Gryffindor, etc.) It’s enchanted so that when a professor awards or takes away points, it’s reflected in the amount of gems in the goblet.
Fun fact, one of Harry’s ancestors created a famous hair smoothing potion that’s still in use during his time. It’s one of the reasons his family was so wealthy. Of course, since Harry doesn’t live in a wizarding town, he pretty much only uses his gold during the school year, and usually only for supplies and snacks. That means the gold should be far more than enough for him before he’s old enough to get a job.
Interesting facts, thanks for sharing.
I think they are looking like hourglasses, aren't they? But instead of sand you have gemstones in them and they go up and down with each point that is awarded or subtracted.
Philosopher's Stone was the original title, and it was published that way in the UK, but the American publisher thought the word "philosopher" would be off-putting to American kids and insisted on changing it.
Edit to add: Nicholas Flamel was a real person in history. He was an alchemist, and the main goal of alchemy was to create the Philosopher's Stone, whose properties were thought to be as Hermione describes. In the Potterverse, he succeeded (and he was a wizard).
Honetly I never thought of a Philosopher as Sorcerer. So I kind of understand that move.
I’m assuming “real person in history” means real person in the history of the Potterverse? Not like real Earth? Or was he real as in our real world?
@@AffanReacts Real as in real-world. I've just Googled him up, and apparently he was a scribe, not an alchemist, but rumours circulated about him after his death. They claimed he had actually discovered the Stone. Ancient Greek philosophers debated about the existence of such a thing, hence its name.
Oh wow, brilliant. I have to look that up when I’m free. That’s intriguing

Just going to let you know now hagrid is 11’6 even tho most the time in the

Noice, is the actor actually that tall?
@@AffanReacts nah he’s just over 6 foot mostly camera angles to make him look taller but they will use stilts sometimes

Hagrid is played by two people. The actor Robbie Coltrane who is 1.85cm (6' 1") for close ups, and former rugby player Martin Bayfield who is 2.10cm (6' 10") wearing a fat-suit and a mask of Coltrane's face for the full body shots.

58:49 ''For a second there I thought it was the guy sitting behind him''
I mean...you weren't wrong
The camera work in that scene made me think that. There are certain camera tricks that they use to give hints. It’s common in most films.
The bludgers' job is to knock as many players as possible off their brooms. The beaters send it into the opposite team's players direction. Also, Snape followed Quirell and tried to stop him from stealing the Stone on Dumbledore's orders. Also, Dumbledore is not a guy who interferes a lot in what's happening at the school and he's mentoring Harry from the back so that he can face whatever challenge he may encounter.
Thanks for explaining some of the things which they kind of skipped over. I had some idea by the end but still wasn’t sure.
@@AffanReacts yes and the Gryffindor's beaters are the Weasley twins, Fred and Georges
oh nice, I think I remember them saying that it's their job to protect Harry in the hallway where that Nicholas ghost things says that I always knew Harry would be a seeker if I remember correctly
Very few people caught on to Quirrell at the Quidditch game, and the subsequent misdirection. Well done, sir.
Thanks 😊
To clarify, Hermione lied about the troll ordeal because Harry and Ron just saved her life. Ron hurt her feelings, but this made up for it and they became friends.
Yeah I gathered that but thanks for reaching out just in case 😊
Gryffindor- red/gold (lion)
Hufflepuff- yellow/black (badger)
Ravenclaw- blue/bronze (eagle)
Slytherin- Emerald/silver (snake)
37:25 The point of this demonstration is to tell only the Gryffindor students the password and show them how to use it to get in. Each house common room and dormitory is password protected to prevent students in other houses from entering.
Yeah that makes sense. I thought the password was just for the prefect at first.
“Is it okay that I want to punch them?” Oh, just wait until the fifth movie. You’ll have a whole new face you’ll want to punch.
😂 💀
Harry knew McGonagall gave him the broom because the owl that delivered it sat by her, so it was clear who it was delivering the package from. Just to clear up the confusion.
ah okay that makes sense

Welcome. You won't regret this journey 😀❤️🤗
Looking forward to it
Subtitles maybe helpful with names of people, places and spells while watching. There will be a lot, especially if you are going to continue with the series.
Also, is your sister planning to watch your reactions to HP? I’m interested in seeing how an OG fan feels about your take of the movies.💜
The subtitles are off by default so like I don’t remember to turn it on. If I remember then I’ll turn them on but don’t count on it. I’m like Nemo. 😂
My sister knows about it already cuz I asked her for the photos but the thing is she’s a mother now, so she has rarely any free time so I actually don’t know if she saw the video or not. But she definitely knows about it. As much as she would like to see something else, I think she has no choice but to see daddy shark for the millionth time 😆
You're adorable. Loved watching your reaction and predictions! Great to see more of the movie and reaction too, i dont mind the longer videos when the creator is giving so much great input x keep up the awesome work, do more comedies- your laugh is infectious!
Thank you so much!! I have been asked to do some comedies and I will but I need to finish some series first, like the HP one, LOTR is another one that people constantly ask for so I need to start that, a lot of requests for Star Wars basically huge franchises and I want to cover those because I feel like if I keep delaying it then someone will spoil it for me out of anger lol but definitely list some films, any that you think will make for a good reaction, I'm open to any genre.
@@AffanReacts Well I would love to see you react to Shaun of the Dead! I cant believe people spoil shizz for you if they dont get the uploads they want! that’s awesome, I’ll add that movie to the list.
Also, I’ve got a horror movie coming up today. Not quite a comedy though 😂
@@AffanReacts perfect timing with timezones!!
Technically you can still lose if you catch the snitch if it's caught and your team is over 150 points behind, the game only ends once the snitch is caught, some games have been known to last a month or longer without finishing, being a seeker is far harder than harry makes it look, he is simply uniquely gifted when it comes to being a seeker
That’s true, I don’t remember which movie but Malfoy can’t see the snitch and HP sees it right away
@@AffanReacts sorry I meant, the second movie is the one you're most likely thinking of xD
"ravenclaw, huff and puff.." im crying
Puffin and huffin 24/7 😆
30:52 The films actually downsize Hagrid; the books describe him as being twice as tall as the average man (so over 11 feet tall), with hands the size of dustbin lids and feet the size of baby dolphins 😛
I wonder what size his… ummmm… yeah let’s just leave it. 😆
@@AffanReacts If that's also twice as long as the average man...at least 10 inches. 😄
10 inches is twice as much as the average man? I guess I'm not the average man then... 😅
@@AffanReacts 🤣🤣🤣
Well it would be understanding as Hagrid is half giant
I have just read the other comments to make sure I don't duplicate anything. The following are not spoilers...
The movies take a bit of artistic licence when it comes to the rules of the Potterverse. Quirrel, for example, cannot fly. Not can he click his fingers and make flames appear. Children can burst out with magical effects, as Harry does at the zoo, but they are uncontrolled. The purpose of a wand is to direct and control the flow of magic. It can also amplify the effect, and different wands do have different levels of power, but the power of the witch or wizard is usually more important.
There had always been tension between the Magic and Muggle communities (think medieval witch-burning), so several hundred years ago, the magical community signed the International Statute of Secrecy (according to Professor Binns, Harry's most boring teacher - only Hermione can resist the soporific power of his droning voice) and they all went underground. As a result, all the trappings of the magical world (dragons, werewolves, centaurs, the Philosopher's Stone giants etc.) fell into myth and legend. That's why we don't believe them today.
There is a Ministry of Magic - the government - whose primary purpose is to uphold that secrecy. The only Muggles who know about magic are family members and the Muggle Prime Minister. The secret remains safe because - let's face it - who would believe them?
Electronic equipment goes haywire around magic. Hogwarts Castle will never have Wi-Fi! :-)
A lot of info, thanks. This will help with future videos a lot.
The first one isn't entirely correct. You can do magic without a wand. But it is very advanced magic and not many people will learn to do it. You need to be very skillful, at least when you come from a culture where the use of a wand is the norm. In many other parts of the world it is actually not very common to use wands and they only started to do so in the last hundred years or so :)
Yes someone else mentioned that as well, thank you for sharing that info 😊
I don't know if anyone explained the sorting hat and the houses yet, so I will ;)
Each house has colours, an animal and traits that it values above all else. They are roughly
- bravery and chivalry for Gryffindor (red and gold, Lion)
- friendship, loyalty and hard work for Hufflepuff (black and yellow, Badger)
- wisdom and creativity for Ravenclaw (blue and bronze, Eagel --> not raven, I'm still angry at the movies for getting that wrong, you can't purchase any correct merch for Ravenclaw :()
- and ambition and cleverness for Slytherin (green and silver, snake)
The sorting hat will sort each student in the house which traits its character mostly represents. It is practically able to look into their minds. Of course a lot of students have traits of more then one house but mostly one of them is prominent enough that the sorting is fairly easy.
With some students like Malfoy those traits are so uniquely Slytherin that the hat doesn't even have to touch their heads. Often the members of one family are all in the same house, but that isn't a rule. Ron's family for example is completely in Gryffindor but in their year there are twins who are sorted into Gryffindor and Ravenclaw (Parvati and Padma).
And then there are people who are what is called hatstalls. They have the traits of two houses so prominently that the hat almost can't decide where to put them. It will take longer than 5 minutes. McGonagall and Peter Pettigrew were hatstalls (McGonagall between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw and Peter between Gryffindor and Slytherin). Hermione and Neville were close too.
In the books the people in the hall only hear the final result, only the people on the chair hear the hat when he is debating where to put them. So nobody knows for example that Harry could've also been in Slytherin.
I love the devotion this fan base has. You are giving me so much of your time and I thank you for it. 😊
McGonagall being a hatstall makes so much sense! She definitely also has a Ravenclaw vibe. And Peter definitely has the Slytherin vibe. I didn’t know that before.
Omg I laughed so hard when you thought the cat's name was professor
The mirror of Erised inscription is "Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi", which, when read backwards and with the proper spacing, says "I show not your face, but your heart's desire".
Harry is wealthy because the Potter family owns the patent for a magical medical potion that is used quite alot. and besides James and Lilly worked as "auras" for the Minestery of Magic. kind of like the U.S. FBI, but for magic in the UK. so where paid well. and they lived a middle class life style, just on their salaries. and that is why they where fighting against Voldermort.
Thanks for sharing that with me 😊
Actually, yes... it was Mcgonagall's name there. She used to play quidwitch when she was younger but unfortunately she broke one of her bones (I'mnot sure wich one, but I think it was her arm) and now she can't play anymore. But she still loves quidwitch, that's why she looks so happy watching the quidwitch match.
hmm that's good to know, she did look very happy not only in the matches but also when he thought HP would make a good seeker she had a huge smile on her face lol
@@AffanReacts yes! Mcgonagall is always so enthusiastic about quidwitch. There are some parts in the books that show it.
56:30 One thing about catching Snitch. Every game someone else catches the Snitch, so one team gets the extra buff from it. But what matters is the difference in points you won it. The cup is given to the team who got the most points.
So there is a chance you haven't caught Snitch a single time, but you still win the whole competition. For example if Griffindor immediately catches the Snitch against Slytherin, they win 0-150.
Next week Ravenclaw could also catch the Snitch against Hufflepuff, but they also scored few hoops for example getting 5 goals.
This way they won 0-200.
Then you have Ravenclaw VS Griffindor, and Griffindor does catch the Snitch, but Ravenclaw got like 11 goals.
Making it 110-150.
In final rankings this would be:
1. Ravenclaw: 200
2. Griffindor: 190 (150+40)
Also Snitch is extremely hard to spot and catch. Especially on professional pitches - which I would assume are bigger. So you could have teams that win the match with just goals. Then for Seeker its actually good to catch the Snitch even, if they know they gonna lose, because they are going out of the competition with the least loss, compared to their opponents.
There have been Quidditch matches that lasted weeks. In older times where brooms were garbage - it made sense.
AN HOUR AND A HALF OH MY GOD YES PLEASE. some reactors do 20-40 minute long vids for these movies 😭
😂 I’m sure it’s due to copyright issues. I might not be able to do others this long but we’ll see
some even shorter
if i remember right, one made one 20-30 min video of all 7 movies🥲😭
and others do just 10 or something like that
In the books the stairs don't change like that, but the steps can disappear randomly, doors change places or won't be open until they do something (like tickling them etc), corridors/halls also. Hogwarts in the books is actually a lot harder to walk around I don't know how they were able to memorize properly how to do it 😆
hmm is that so no outsiders can walk around easily?
@@AffanReacts not really because muggles can't enter the school and the school has a magical barrier that doesn't let people apparate inside. And most wizards that live in Europe either went to Hogwarts, Durmstrang or Beauxbatons, mostly Hogwarts, so a lot of people know the insides of the school even if they don't go there anymore. So you'd have to make a huge fuss to try to break into it, there are ways, but they're complicated, the easiest way is to have someone let you in, which is also pretty difficult to happen. I think it's just a characteristic of the school, like it has a personality in itself lol
@@AffanReacts just noticed u don't know what apparition is 💀 it's not something major, like, there'll be no problem telling u now, it's basically the ability of teleportation.

Dumbledore only partnered with Flamel to work on alchemy after Flamel had created the stone. It was Dumbledore who ultimately defeated Grindelwald. Nicholas Flamel and Grindelwald had very little, if anything, to do with each other. And the reason people don't say Voldemort's name is because they're absolutely terrified of him so they give him monikers like You-Know-Who, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and in one case Lord Thingy (which is my favorite). And he did think Snape was going to steal the stone, and then give it to Voldemort. In the books the horse isn't on the board because all 3 of them are required to take the place of a piece in order to get through. So Ron essentially doesn't have a choice and the queen hits him over the head, knocking him unconscious.
The house colors are as follows:
Gryffindor - Crimson and gold
Slytherin - Green and silver
Hufflepuff - Yellow and black
Ravenclaw - Blue and bronze (in the books); blue and grey (in the movies)
Their mascots are:
Gryffindor - Lion
Slytherin - Serpent
Hufflepuff - Badger
Ravenclaw - Eagle in the books and Raven in the movie
Lord Thingy 😂
And that makes a lot of sense about that chess game. Idk why they did it with the horse cuz that was really confusing. To me at least.
Wait, RAVENclaw is not a Raven in the books? 😂
Thanks for sharing all this info man, I really appreciate you taking the time to share all this. Means a lot.
I’d share my favorite, but it would ruin the joke in later movies you haven’t gotten to yet 🤣
Okay, but Rooma 2000 had me screaming XD
😝
Hogwort (rather than Hogwart) is goatweed; a herb with white hairs on its leaves. Dumbledore: Old Celtic word for a bumblebee. Rowling, like many authors, enjoys smuggling hidden meanings into names.
Everyone was living in terror while Voldemort was around. After Harry survived the attack, Voldemort disappeared, so Harry brought peace to the Wizarding world - he is famous both for surviving and defeating one of the most powerful dark wizards at the time. No one says Voldemorts name out loud because they do not want him to come back as it is not clear if he is still out there somewhere.
I think the way McGonagall smiled at harry and the fact that Hedwig was next to her maybe helped him figure it out.
Maybe yeah but does it really matter? 😂 I focus on little details way too much
@@AffanReacts lmao it’s cool though cause thanks to that I catch things I never did before despite watching millions of times lol

Goodness, I used to do something similar with my younger brother. I was obsessed with Harry Potter in Middle School and High School.
Someone probably already answered this in the comments, but Harry's money was comprised almost entirely from the Potter family fortune. His grandfather, Fleamont Potter developed Sleekeazy Hair Potion products into quite a lucrative empire and sold it at just the right time to maximize proceeds.
It's "Sorcerer's Stone" in the US and "Philosopher's Stone" everywhere else. There are two versions of the movie.
I like your reactions, so I'mma quickly warn you so you won't get in trouble down the line... the Harry Potter franchise is known for it's very strong copyright system. If you keep uploading this much of the movie then they might get blocked and you might get strikes.
In any case, fun reaction so far :)
I love watching new reactors trying to get the names right. It's one of the most amusing things to me (unless they're saying the names wrong on purpose, then it gets annoying).
The Bludgers in a game of Quidditch are basically just there to cause chaos. The Beaters on either team carry short bats which they use to smack bludgers towards players on the opposing team. This is done to either distract them, make them go off course, drop the Quaffle, or unseat them from their brooms. Bludgers can cause broken bones quite easily so it's good to try and avoid them.
The inscription on the Mirror of Erised is definitely English ^^ it's just spelled backwards.
As for the giant chess set down the trap door... in the book he wasn't on the horse, he just took the place of the knight. I think they might've put him on a horse to make the effect in the movie a little more kid friendly. In the book he got whacked over the head by a stone chess piece.
I'm guessing in the movie he couldn't get off the horse because it'd count as cheating.
House Colors and Mascots:
Gryffindor: Red and gold, lion mascot
Hufflepuff: Yellow and black, badger mascot
Ravenclaw: Blue and bronze, eagle mascot (though blue and silver, with raven mascot in the movie for no reason what so ever)
Slytherin: Green and silver, snake mascot
The reason why the Dursleys treat Harry as a piece of trash comes mostly from jealousy, probably some fear as well. It doesn't excuse anything really...
They hate everything to do with magic, and literally everything outside of what they would call 'the norm'. They were hoping that Harry would not develop his powers if he didn't know about his background, his parents, and magic in general.
Thanks for sharing all the information I appreciate it a lot. I have 2 other HP related videos as well on the channel, if you are interested. It’ll give you an understanding of well my understanding of this universe. Lol
I know copyright is a huge issue, I have been hit already, but not on any of the HP ones. I try to edit them so that it’s disruptive, meaning scenes are not complete, dialogue isn’t complete in some cases either. I mean it is a reaction after all so that shouldn’t matter too much but regardless it does annoy some people but it’s a necessity. It’s either a 20 minutes reaction or a long one with proper meaningful thoughts using this kind of editing technique. So far it’s been good. Let’s see in the future though. I might have to resort to 20 minutes reactions. Which I really don’t like cuz I like showing my thoughts after each scene and that might be difficult to do.
@@AffanReacts I hope your style of editing will continue working out. I have to admit I do enjoy the longer videos quite a bit.
I'm pretty sure you're aware of many editing techniques as well as ways around copyright trouble, but I'mma add it anyway just in case... if this technique doesn't work out you could always try splitting up the video into multiple parts, that way you can keep your style of reacting while giving the middle finger to the people who try to stop you from doing so. I've seen other channels doing such things and it seems to work for them.
That’s something that I have considered already. It’s definitely something I’ll be implementing if things go from bad to worse 😂 just trust me, even still, as a small channel which isn’t even monetized. I get copyright claims.
@@AffanReacts I figured you would, honestly, and you're a lot of fun to watch, so I wanted to try and help. I apologize if I overstepped boundaries with it.
No you are fine dude. I appreciate receiving help. I’ll never say no to it. I’m fairly new to this reaction game so I’ve a lot to learn and even if I wasn’t new, I’d still listen to others. The moment you think you know everything and don’t need any advice or help is the moment your failure begins. I firmly believe that.
Toads are not Reptiles. They are amphibians.

When is chamber of secrets reaction coming ?
No idea, I’m very busy with work atm so don’t know. Next couple of weeks are gonna be hectic, but we’ll get there eventually.
You probably know by now, as I come to see these reactions a little late, but the bludgers are indeed there just to assault the players ;) two players are assigned to keep the bludgers away from the other players. (They are the ones with bats). :)
Yup I do know but thanks for sharing. You never know what might be new info.
I am only 3 minutes in but.... already I can tell you that starting on the HP movies is like a freaking puzzle... you cannot appreciate the whole picture as long as you did not watch the whole movies... And do not forget ... every movie hold a part of the whole ... which is revealed at the very end ... (oh... I loved saying that ... lololol)
That’s how all series are but I get what you mean. Can’t wait to see more.
huff and puff,lol
The key has a broken wing because remember Harry and team are not the first there, the person who came in ahead of them already caught the key and jammed it into the lock, breaking the wing.
Oh yeah that’s true, good point but I couldn’t have known that before learning about the end.
Harry's ancestor invented the potion that heals broken bones. (Remember Nevil's wrist?) That's where the gold came from.
Dumbledore knows everything that goes on in Hogwarts.
Hagrid is half giant.
Didn’t they also invent like a hair thing? Someone mentioned it in the comments they came up with something for hair. I can’t recall exactly what.

@@AffanReacts Sleekeazy's Hair Potion and Scalp Treatment, along with a a number of magic hair and skin products were made by his grandparents i believe
The Don to the rescue, Thank you 😊 I couldn’t remember but I thought I read something along those lines in the comments.
@@AffanReacts his family line is ancient descended from the peverell family(you learn about them in deathly hollows)
jk rowling has done interviews about things in the wizarding world and potters family line has been talked about alot even revealing that most Pureblood familys are somehow related through at least marriage. like the Malfoys and Weasleys are distant cousins through the black family as Cedrella Black married Septimus Weasley(believed to be Ron weasleys grandparents) and dracos mothers ,Narcissa, madien name is black, also being the first cousin to Harrys God father
Her name is Lily 😊 and I think they used to make the actor for Hagrid use high shoes, like platform shoes or something but I'm not 100% sure it could also just be camera tricks like angles etc
37:20 the entrance of houses' dormitories are hidden. the other students actually doesn't even know where the gryffindor dormitory entrance is. you know, it looks like a portrait. of course if they want, they can simply learn it. but it is forbidden to enter the other dormitories. same goes for the others. gryffindor students doesn't know where the slytherin dormitory and so on.
see this is exactly what I meant, there is always something new to learn, I'm now in Order of the Phoenix yet I didn't know this. thanks for sharing 😊
The writing on the Mirror is English. It’s just backwards. It says “I show not your face but your heart’s desire.” I think. Something like that. Erised is Desire spelled backwards.
Yeah I noticed that when editing 😂 I felt like an idiot
@@AffanReacts Eh no issues, none of us noticed.
The book was published as Sorcerer’s Stone because they weren’t sure American kids would know the book was about a wizard. I was around the age to get into reading these, I knew perfectly well what the Philosopher’s Stone was.
the philosophers stone is the brittish/orignal version.
The simple fact of the matter is that American publishers think that the word "sorcerer" sounds more enticing and magical than the word "philosopher." At the time, the belief is that American kids would have more familiarity with the term "sorcerer" than they would "philosopher", therefore, making it more likely for them to pick up the book at the store.
they also changed Lemon Sherbet (Or Sherbet Lemon) from the bittish version to "Lemon Drop" in the american books.
and Dean Thomas...
In the UK, the book simply says, “three people left to be sorted. “Turpin, Lisa became…“ While the US version has a more explicit description writing, “Three people left to be sorted. 'Thomas, Dean,' a black boy even taller than Ron." 'Turpin, Lisa' became…“
Then the sorting of Dean.
In the British version, it is stated that he joins Harry in the Gryffindor house, clearly aligning him from the very start. Yet that doesn't happen in the American version, with the character clearly not being as important.
Clearly they think american kids cant read brittish so they 'translate' the book into american. Like changing Motorbike and Motorcycle, Sweater and Jumper, Fringe and Bangs are words that change in the american one, which I think is dumb. Its like they think american kids have no idea how to read something brittish and wouldnt understand otherwise
I’m not sure if it means something different in Britain but where I come from, Sherbet is a drink. A traditional middle eastern drink, normally made from Rose petals and they do sometimes add lemon in it. It’s my favorite drink 😂
But yeah they clearly think American kids are not very smart cuz them changing this to suit it more for the American kids means they know that the British kids won’t have a problem reading American english.
He who remains in low key 😂🤣
the movies never have sir Nicolas' family name..it's Sir Nicolas De Mimsy-Porpington (always slightly miffed at being called nearly headless Nick)
Oh wow what a name, Appreciate that fact. Thanks 😊
@@AffanReacts thank you! you have yourself a new subscriber
u actually do look like harry even now lmao
Even now? 😂
Every time someone who watches these movies and mentions Barry I hope they’ll recognise Tom Felton(Draco Malfoy) as Julian, but then I realise he is way too young here.
I haven't seen past season 1 so I assume Julian appears later on? does this same actor play him or do they look alike? Cuz I know Dan isn't playing Barry 😂 unless that's Dan in another universe, you never know with Flash.
@@AffanReacts 😂😂😂 oh then have fun watching the Flash it’s one of my favourite DC shows. Yep, the same actor that plays Draco plays Julian, but since you haven’t reached that point that’s all I’ll say.
Getting off the horse would mess up the game. However, in the book, Ron wasn't on the horse. He took it's place and the queen hit him over the head with her arm.
Petunia was super jealous of her sister, Harry's mom, and she and her husband Vernon really hate anything they don't consider "normal".
Yeah they should have done it like the book cuz that didn’t make sense, to someone who’s new to the franchise that is.
And yeah that’s very unfortunate, and what’s even worse is people are like that in real life as well.
McDonalds, McDouglas and McGonagall
😂
Even though it was only 10 points, I like that Dumbledore gives Neville the points that gets Gryffindor to win the house cup. It is much easier to stand up against your enemies than your friends. So Neville earned it!
It's the first time, I see someone guess for quirrel at the quidditch game ! Ten points for your house :)
You seem to love firenze 😏
He’s horse in all the right places 😆
Just finished, the adults in Harry Potter are really irresponsible lol we always say that. Great reaction, if you can I really recommend reading the books after because even though the movies are great, the books are much more immersive in the wizarding world, majority of people say that reading Harry Potter is like going to study in Hogwarts, the lore is much bigger and better explained as well as the story!
Yes I will read the books afterwards. And I’m glad you had fun watching this movie.
Check out The Lord of the Rings when you can. They started as books published in the 1950s, and inspired every single major fantasy series of the past 70 years.
Yeah someone else suggested this too. I’ll be doing that series soon as well. Either after HP series is finished or around the end of the HP series.
@@AffanReacts hope you enjoy it. It might seem a bit cliche in its plot at first, but that’s just because it invented the cliches of fantasy. It did them first.
@@nickmanzo8459 ah right I see they were the trend starters
@@AffanReacts not just trend starters, the author, J.R.R. Tolkien literally invented the concept of High Fantasy (fantasy that takes place in a different world with extremely deep lore). The writer of Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire) drew directly from The Lord of the Rings, but he subverted the original idealism to create a more cynically realistic world. Realism in human behavior, in other words. Lord of the Rings is a world of heroes and villains.
👍🏼
31:37 now that’s a house I can get behind 🤣
Hi. New subscriber. I loved this amazing detailed reaction. I hope you do the rest of the series. Looking forward to Chamber of Secrets.
Thanks 😊 and I’m editing it as we speak, but I’m working 7 days a week so I’m editing it over multiple days since I don’t have much free time. And it’s gonna be detailed for sure. The video is an hour long right now and I still have an hour more of the movie to edit so it actually might end up being longer than this one 😂
@@AffanReacts I prefer detailed videos, it shows your dedication to the cause.
I do too, I don’t like to half ass it 😆 but to give other reactors the benefit of the doubt. I think the reason why most youtubers do short ones is cuz they are afraid of copyrights. Some of my videos have been hit too and the shorter the video the less likely it is. So it’s not necessarily lack of dedication but rather out of necessity. Obviously I’m generalizing there are definitely some channels who are just there for the views 😂
super late but Pivet Drive is pronounced just liked Pivot, for example get the friends video of Ross yelling pivot
I haven't seen friends but heard a lot about it so I got the reference lol, thank you
@@AffanReacts lol you’re welcome and of course add the R I left out. So pivot with an r lol
The movies get more adult around the third movie, they get pretty dark! Great reaction!
Thanks man, can’t wait to see them all.
Snape lives for taking points from Gryffindor it's so stressing in the books lol
😂 even in the movies he seems to find any excuse to take them off.
Toads aren't reptiles. They're amphibians.
Yeah I know, when I was editing I caught that, the thing was I had snakes in mind as well but never mentioned them. The more you see from me the more you’ll realize I do that a lot. I think of something, don’t mention it and then assume everyone knows what I’m thinking 😂 but anyways, I’m not a fan of both of them.
Not even 5 mins in but you've already gained a new sub :3 Love to see long reactions, sick of all the 20-40 min HP reactions. I'm British and was like 7 or 8 when this came out, so if it was huge in Pakistan, you can only imagine the Harry Potter boom in it's country of origin. Could not escape it as a kid. However I only saw Deathly Hallows Part 1 & 2 in cinema. I grew up in a very poor family so I didn't start going to the cinema until I was old enough to pay for myself when I left school.
Thanks man, I try to show as much of myself and the movie as possible, for a movie this long, 20-30 mins doesn’t even make any sense. I normally do 40-50 mins but obviously I change that according to the size of the actual movie.
I completely understand the madness behind this franchise. Also You, Harry and I had a very similar start to life. I grew up very poor as well and I also never went to cinemas. I think I’ve been to the cinema 4 times in my life. All 4 times for the Avengers movies and twice those times was cuz it was free 😂
@@AffanReacts you're welcome :3 Yeah no, it really does depend on the movie, some movies there is a lot of stuff that is just kinda not worth showing reactions to or is scenes that aren't important to show, but with HP there is a helluva lot going on at almost all times
Yeah the madness behind the franchise makes sense, it's a well written, acted, and directed series, the books are so much more detailed though. It astounds me that it reached such a worldwide audience even during it's initial run, I would've thought a lot of non native English speaking countries wouldn't have boarded the hype train for it til a few years in when it'd established itself, but that's pretty cool. Just curious when your sister was watching it, was it dubbed or subbed?
It's unfortunate to start off life in such poor circumstances, but it does humble you and makes you more appreciative of things around you, it grounds you from being materialistic and gives you much stronger values than those born with a silver spoon in their mouths, but that's just my own personal experience and opinion.
Haha yeah I think I've only been cinema maybe 10 times, and yeah one of those of mine was free too, I was invited to my college coursemates birthday to see Clash of the Titans. Every other time it has to be something I really want to watch as cinemas are expensive xD
Harry Potter was huge in Pakistan, kids in my school had those pencil cases and backpacks with harry potter on it.
My sister saw the movies and read the books fairly early on, I think the same year the movies came out. Her friends would lend her the dvds and books at school. It was in English, no subs needed. We knew English. We learn it in school, it’s compulsory. So those who are lucky enough to go to school in Pakistan know English very well. But the thing is most Pakistanis are so poor that they have to start working at a very young age like 10 years old or even younger so they have no time to go to school. We were fortunate enough to not work that early, my father made sure we didn’t need to work until we were adults. He left Pakistan and came to America when I was just 3, so he can make enough money cuz in Pakistan he couldn’t make enough and he was a doctor so imagine what the others who didn’t have any qualifications were like.
But yeah, It’s good to remember that, remember who you are, where you came from. I agree, it’s humbles you. Makes you empathetic for those less fortunate than you. It’s a blessing in disguise.
You were right be be kinda suspicious of Quirrel bossman
Honestly I blamed everyone 😂 no one is safe around me.
very nice reaction bro; please continue, we will tell you later what snape's first words to harry mean.. no spoilers for now..
I appreciate the no spoilers 😊
Pls do all of the Harry Potter series
That’s the plan
the bludgers are basically to incapacitate the players on the opposing teams. the beaters will hit the bludgers at other players to try and knock them off their brooms or cause them to swerve out of the way. Basically, beaters try and cause disruptions on the field to allow their team to gain possession of the quaffle or let their seeker look for the snitch without competition. It's the job of the beaters also to protect their own team from bludgers, like batting an oncoming bludger away from their teammates towards an opponent, ect.
Thanks for explaining that.
Excellent reaction! Thank you😊
You’re welcome 😇
