  • Installing an adjustable lowering link on a 2013 Honda CB500X. The lowering link was about $75.00 on E-Bay, and took about 30 minutes to install and we were able to lower the rear almost 4" so that a 5'4" rider could comfortably touch the ground.

    Awesome video, I appreciate all the details and that you explained everything you were doing and had done
    I had no clue I needed to also lower the front. I'm only 5'3'' and this made all the difference

    PSR makes aftermarket kickstands for those bikes that have lowering links installed. I have one on my 2003 CBR 600rr.

      Your welcome, just remember anytime you are doing anything like this, make sure the fasteners are good and tight, and recheck them after you have ridden a bit to make sure they don’t loosen up. Use loctite where possible.

    Thanks for the video. They make an adjustable kickstand for this mod. I got ours from T-Rex racing and we get the lean back in the kickstand after lowering. It is a big deal according to my wife.

    My friend bought a similar kit for her 2018. Turns out that center barrel adjuster was hitting the bottom of the shock. Had to grind both the adjuster and the shock to make it fit, and I I think if I try to lower it any more the shock will just hit the adjuster

    Dear Sir note that I live in Australia and I have Royal Enfield Himalayan ( I did not lower the suspension ) but I did buy an adjustable side stand from the UK and installed it and it made a big difference as I found that with the standard side stand that the bike was a little to up right and the bike did fall over once to the right hand side due to some uneven ground when I parked the bike, but now with the adjustable side stand installed this has fixed the problem
    I think you can buy an adjustable side stand for the Honda CB500X also?
    I also have a Suzuki DR650 that I had professionally lowered for me and yes the standard side stand was cut and re-welded to size to match the new lower height of the bike.
    Safe riding to all

    Is that replacement material strong and safe,? can you give me a link for that thanks

    Just be careful with those lowering links. Since they’re not one solid piece they are much weaker. Put on on my gfs 2018 cb500x and it snapped in half from some mild off roading. If you’re only doing street riding you should be fine but I would highly recommend against off roading with aftermarket suspension parts.

    Thank you Joseph... I am 5-7 and I usually wear my boots so I can hit the ground with both feet on the forefoot....how tall is your daughter.. how is the balance and handling working out for her?

      @JosephVollmar  7 місяців тому +2

      She is 5’-4” and she hasn’t had an issue at all with the balance and handling. She has put over 8k miles on this set up with no issues.

    Can you provide info on your panniers and mounts please. Thanks.

    • @JosephVollmar
      @JosephVollmar  Рік тому +1

      I am not sure of the brand. They were on the bike when my daughter bought it, and I don’t see any markings. They are nice panniers, but are fairly cheaply manufactured. I see some generic options on Amazon, but it looks like Revzilla and EBay do have some options. If you can find what you are looking for there check with your local dealer or other motorcycle sites. They are out there, the CB500x is just a bike with a huge aftermarket following yet.

    • @JosephVollmar
      @JosephVollmar  9 місяців тому

      I lowered it 1" in the front, and almost 4" in the rear. In the rear that is about the max for this kit. you could probably pull a little more out of the front if you needed to.

    Oh it’s a big deal, you will eventually drop the bike, plus harder getting on and off. Cut and reeled side stand, do it right, do it safe. You have also changed the handling characteristics by changing geometry..these should be carefully considered and tested by an experienced rider before jumping at handing off to your loved ones..good intentions, but consider.
