- Prince Rupert is a hidden gem located on British Columbia's northwest coast. Craddled between the ocean and mountains, it is a bustling hub of industry, culture, and history. This video is a short virtual tour and introduction to the many wonders this city has to offer.
I love that you were able to film at some great vantage points/using a drone to see what it's like from above. Lovely! Also, you're a great presenter. Well done!
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it
Tsimshian Man here born and raised in prince rupert thank you.
Great job in putting this together, Andy.
I was born in Prince Rupert in the ‘61 and left in ‘68. I’ve only been back once since the early 70’s. I now call Bellingham, Washington home but hope to make a trip there again within the next year.
Thanks Greg. It's changed quite a bit since then. If you're planning a trip and have the time, I would recommend driving up from Bellingham through the Fraser Canyon via
highway 1 and then highway 16 west. You can even take the ferry to Vancouver Island from Prince Rupert, and drive down to Victoria and Vancouver. It's an incredible loop and definitely worth it.
I will be visiting Vancouver in the near future and will be taking the ferry to Prince Rupert. Terrific video. Thank you for the education.
Awesome ! Thanks so much for making that video Andy beautiful and informative. Keep being awesome brother !
Thanks Daniel! I appreciate the support
You did a good job researching and presenting Prince Rupert. Thank you 😂

Wonderful documentary indeed.Sincere efforts taken to prepare.Congratulation dear ANGAD.
Good job young man, keep up with good work.
I remember I came here as a kid with my father back in the early 90s and I came here. Few times with my family . I keep thinking of ways to come move here full time
Such a great video learning so much about Prince Rupert I was born there but left in the 80s and now live in Pennsylvania thank you so much for this
I'm glad you found it helpful! Many people moved away in the 80s and 90s when the economy went downhill. If you ever get the chance, be sure to visit sometime
Looking forward to seeing Prince Rupert in August for 1 week.
I'm sure you'll love it!
Hi Andy, I love your video, we are a young couple and we are moving to Prince Rupert at the end of the year but we have been having trouble finding a rental to live in, maybe you know of a website or real estate agency where we can find a house to rent?
That Eagle on the tower was amazing!
Very well done. Made me homesick.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I used to have to go there to work every year. It is the armpit of the coast. Its cold, windy and raining even during the summer with 30% more rain than Vancouver. It is beautiful when the sun does come out.Every year more businesses close. They arent permitted to board them up so they put curtains and alarm tape on the windows, then put up pictures of what the town used to look like. Unless you have a boat and enjoy fishing, there isnt much to do or to see. The restaurants arent very good. Lots of people have trailers and mobile homes because they are stuck there and want to be somewhere else. They have a large indigenous population. One of their only 2 main streets is nicknamed "Apache pass". I didnt like going out on the street at night. Their main employer is the container port and many of the people Ive met who work there use cocaine to help them work long hours. I kept my sanity while I was there by walking the trail to the aquatic centre, swimming laps and sitting in the whirlpool. I would go to the library and sit on the couch while using the internet then walk to the grocery store. I actually got kicked out of the tourist centre that promotes the container port one time. One of the workers listened in on a phone conversation I was having and took exception when I told a friend about how lousy and boring the town was, so they called security and some woman dressed in black like a storm trooper demanded I leave. I am very thankful that I dont have to go there anymore. You can have a similar experience without having to go further than Campbell river or even Port Hardy, but CR has better weather. If you have a boat, like the wilderness or fishing, then Bella Bella / Shearwater is the furthest north you ever need to go because everything looks the same from the top of Vancouver island to the border of Alaska, but the only months for half decent weather are July and August. FYI As I am writing this Dec 2024, PR has a boil water advisory for their drinking water because they cant afford to put in a new water main.
Thank you for this
Going to be passing through P.R. on our way to-fro Haida Gwaii ! Will be staying a few nights in the city … hopefully we’ll get to see all he features covered here.
Amazing video, i have a friend who is an aboriginal person from the surrounding area . Heard about the city and check it out via google map. It is beautiful and peaceful the way I see it. hope to visit there one day
Good script, good delivery, great drone shots (orbit of eagle on top of radio mast was awesome!) but you get an F for audio. Get a real mic and you'll go from ok to great.
Well done
Love it, thank you, from all us long timers...
one note, the native people have been since before memory, but scientifically, to 20,000 - 25,000 years, as per a recent site dig carbon dated to that period, ie BEFORE the ice age land bridge, and there may have been 2 or more waves of natives.
I played at North Pacific as a child, my favourite pastime was digging for chinese cash coins and little corked blue bottles with a white powder at the bottom, was 100s of them poking up from clay under houses, I was to young to know they were old, I just dug them up and piled them somewhere, wish Id kept the coins because I had 100s of them, gave them away, lost them, tried some on old pop machines and at the international and hotspot. I wonder if any still there.
Thanks for sharing your story! It's amazing how much history is embedded in this beautiful region
thank you
Great efforts 👌 but make sure you keep the fluff damper on your microphone!
Yeah, I recorded it on my mobile device. Next time I make one I'll use a detachable microphone so the noise is more clear.
When I die and wake up in Heaven, I hope it will be in Prince Rupert :)
I live in prince rupert
