  • This video shows the launch of the Andrea Lynn from a shallow sandy shore at the Salem Baptist pond near me. The retracting keel works great and the boat is surprisingly stable even when the 12lb 18" long keel is in the up position. Plans for this nicely designed boat came from Gary at Bearospace Industries - www.bearospacei...
I designed and added the retracting keel and rudder to be able to launch and recover the boat without wading into the ponds around here.

    Bonjour,
Very efficient and nice boat. I especially appreciate the technicality of the retractable keel which also seems very efficient.

Thanks Raphael !! This is a nice change of pace, just let the wind do the work. No fuel, oil or water to keep up with

Very nice addition with the retracting keel & rudder! I recently bought Gary's plans for this schooner & his sloop, Emma. Both are excellent designs in my book!

Thanks ! I really like Gary's design now I just need to learn how to sail ! The retracting keel/rudder really help getting the boat in the water. Its a bit tippy when retracted, so the sails stay loose to the wind ( don't know the nautical term :-) ) till it gets to deeper water
