  • Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger is the third main game in Chris Roberts' Wing Commander science fiction space combat simulation video game series, developed and released by Origin Systems in December 1994. It was a departure from previous games in the series in that it uses extensive live action full-motion video to add an interactive movie-style presentation to the space combat gameplay, emphasized by its advertising slogan, "Don't watch the game, play the movie!". The game's more than two hours of video featured a number of prominent movie stars including Mark Hamill as Colonel Christopher "Maverick" Blair, Malcolm McDowell as Admiral Tolwyn, John Rhys-Davies as James "Paladin" Taggart and Thrakhath nar Kiranka, and Tom Wilson as Todd "Maniac" Marshall.

Haven't heard that theme for 20 years and still remember every note.
Also the cut scenes are actually good - a sight unseen at that time.

Luke Skywalker, Biff Tannen and so many others together battling the Kilrathi. How much more epic do you want it to be?

Let’s go back to 94. Think of the amount of games getting made. Tex Murphy under a Killing moon was one of the largest video games of its era, with a budget of two million dollars covering 4 CD-ROMs. We bought it in the U.K. costing £49.99 if that was in $ it would be $118! Today. The game’s industry was booming. 3DFX was coming out. The best milsims were being made by DID,Empire,Rowan,Microprose,DI. The first Pentium was coming into the market. Budgets were HUGE. Everybody wanted to be in games.
Today, it’s the exact opposite. Games are all about graphic engines, little in the way of professional actors, but costs have spiralled In Wages and spin-offs for the likes of Netflix. Back then DLC was called ‘expansion packs’. It came with tons of content and games were more often complete when sold. Now it’s just consumerism gone crazy

Well to explain Priveter. There were two of this game. One between WC 2 and WC3 and one directly after part 4. Thats confusing, but explains. They were the same with differnt grafics.

Well, I lived through Wing Commander III when I was a kid and always thought the story was alright, but watching it now... the acting is not great, but the dialogue really terrible. Wow. I mean I love nostalgia, but sometimes "never look back" is also true.

Me too, I was 12, dialogue is exactly as I remember. It is quite terrible but I love it anyway, I couldn't care less
