It does; because Critical Race Theory which is by a LAW professor, studies how racism is systemic and how it permeates throughout our laws. 1619 is about our collective history.

Only looking at history through such lens would lead a person to conclude that the Revolutionary War was fought to preserve slavery. The question is, is looking at history through a single lens accurate history, or a biased version of it?

How can 1619 tell you about a country that was not born until 1776. Take 1619 up with King George and his descendants.

1619 can't tell you anything about this country. In 1619, what was settled on this land was under British rule so go complain to them. We went through a major war to get to 1776. You don't get to change the facts no matter what. If you want to go back and talk history, make sure to include the Barbary slave trade. White Europeans were taken as slaves to North Africa way before black slaves were brought across the Atlantic.

The first Black slaves weren't brought to what is now the United States of America in 1619. The first ones actually arrived in the early 1500s.

The general American public is in fact ignorant of the true historical nature of this country and we all know that an improper formula is incapable of rendering the correct result. We cannot remedy any national and social discrepancies because we do not possess the factual historical accuracy to defer to thereby lacking the ability to address the many issues and concerns that would resolve internal conflict and allow us to progress as the ideal democracy we have portrayed to be to the global audience. A very useful reference tool that assisted me was a book entitled "The Half Has Never Been Told" by Edward E. Baptist. A great companion piece is entitled "The Slave Ship" by Marcus Rediker. These books were constructed from historical archives and private journals and correspondence of a variety of people of varied importance and station. These are only an introduction to the actual American history that along with the 1619 Project will give you an unfiltered perspective of our national development. For those who will, by all means I welcome you to brave the true narrative.
