Nice review. Concise and to the point.
Thank you! That's my goal!
Awesome comprehensive review!! Glad I found this video
Awesome, glad you found it helpful...and thanks for the encouragement!
Interesting review... "two options, I chose the omelet." Left me hanging there. The same thing happened in the end. 1/5th the price... okay what is the year that you flew and the cost.?
Ha! Sorry about that. I can't answer the omelet question because I don't remember. The trip was one year ago. I flew back on Xmas Day very late in the evening. I believe the cost was around $3000. I remember the business class seats being $15,000+ and it reducing by 1/5th. I can't say you'll find that rate again, but I've found deals on Xmas eve, Xmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day numerous times. Good luck and happy travels!
Thanks for the review. We are looking at similar flights right now. Sorry if I missed this, but if you had to choose one on this route would it be Delta or LATAM and why (given you flew both on this trip)?
They were both very similar in terms of layout. However, the LATAM interior is definitely more dated and a little scuffed up. I also thought the LATAM plane was really loud, although it could have been my particular seat, which was 4D. I would definitely choose Delta over LATAM. Happy Travels!
I do think the front rows are quieter as they are further away from the engines. Also, I agree that Latam FA are always very friendly, but all of my experience with them have one constant - extremely slow and dragged out dinner services. It almost always take 2 hours for them to serve a single tray dinner even during those midnight departures, and I think it's really their service protocol of heating up allllll the meals and rolling down the cart instead of taking the orders first, and have one FA run the trays while the other plates. It also seems like such a waste because majority passengers do decide to skip dinner and sleep and yet they'd heat up and prep a full cart of meals.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the noise and the food. It sounds like you been on these planes a few times, so it's nice to get your feedback. Cheers!
I’ll be on the same aircraft and will be in same row 4 as you but I will be at the window side. Now I’m curious if I should move seats due to the noise. Any suggestion?
I'm not sure if the noise was just in my area, or if it was in the entire business class, so I'm not sure if I can be of help. If I booked it again, I would try to move forward. It was a loud white noise, so maybe you will be fine with it. I did sleep with ear plugs.
Just curious how did you get one fifth the price?
By flying on Christmas Day, late at night! It wasn't a convenient time and I had to stay two more nights in Santiago, but it was worth it to have a business class seat for that long of a flight. It worked out well because hotel rates in Santiago were only about $100 a night. Xmas, Thanksgiving and New Year's Day often have cheaper rates if you book the ticket right about the time when people are generally celebrating.
@@seniorsolotravel Thanks..sorry just saw the message. Would you mind providing the $ figure you paid for business class one way? I am asking as I already paid $850 for one way for economy Flex end of December and the lowest I get for bidding for business is $750.. I am not sure if $1600 is worth for business class one way on this non-stop LAX-SCL. Thoughts?
I believe the flight was $3000, but it was Round Trip. The regular price was up to $15, 000, but it dropped by 1/5 when I booked on Christmas Day. I have no idea what the going rate is now, but for such a long trip, I'd say $1200-1500 one way is about as good as you will get for business class for such a long flight these days. I think you need to decide if the extra expense is worth the extra comfort for you. For me, I'd rather scrimp on accommodations and be comfortable on the flight, but other people feel the opposite. Good luck and happy travels!
@@seniorsolotravel Thanks. I am flying on Dec 24 LAX - SCL (non-stop) with my wife and daughter. If I bid $750 (minimum) that would be about $2150 in total if accepted.. Let me think about it
