This movie scene has been part of my memory since childhood. I have not set eyes on it for over 40 years until now. Wasn't there a scene where he got into a scrap with a goose, or was that another movie? I'll go look. Thank you for posting.
The movie is "Friendly Persuasion", an absolutely wonderful story of a Quaker family in the early days of the Civil War. See if you can find it to watch and I guarantee you won't be sorry.
The Old Ways in today's people, Quakers were simple people. Simple was the best. Update yourself with a Simple Generous Day n Night. Then simple doesn't have to be poor at all.
The wonderful thing about Catholicism is that we know you are all breakaways from us, the Church founded by Christ and the first pope Peter. We love you though!
All women wore head coverings in those days. It is not an aspect of their religion. You should focus more on the content of people’s characters, on their behaviour, than on their physical appearance.
@@Brap-pl2me sure, what I meant was that it was not an aspect of their religious denomination in particular (I think I was replying to a deleted comment).
Most Quakers are socially, and often politically, liberal and they were in the Civil War period too. They believed in the equality of women and races, which was pretty radical in the 1860s. All Quakers in my experience, even relatively conservative ones, are prepared to accept anyone into their meetings and listen to what they have to say.
The older the get, the more I like the quakers
William Wyler, who directed this movie, once said: "The trouble with Quakers is...there's not enough of them."
An elderly Quaker once gave me this advice: "Walk with those who seek the truth. Run from those who have found it."
Thank You Quakers for all you have done in the abolitionist Movement!

I'm not convinced the old man at the end wasn't just asleep with his eyes open

There were multiple scraps with a goose.
God is Love!!
Some of Hollywood’s best dialogue. Would that today’s writers were half as good.
For a minute I thought you were talking about the total silence and I thought…honestly you’re right 😂
TY Brian for sharing

My family tree has a branch of Pennsylvania Quakers from Wales.
Love the service! Wish Luther was in here! Lol
why luther?
The contrast in religious meetings is striking. The wonderful thing about Protestantism is that as a Christian you can take your choice.
What if you don’t make good choices?
Yes, a choice between the crazys and the less crazys.

Amawalk needs a Beluga whale to worship. 1 Peter.
This is what I really looking for. Women SHOULD WEAR head covering. Men NOT to wear head covering.

Liberals: cancel this film!
Why would liberals want to cancel this film? 😄
Something tells me Acdragonrider has no clue what this film is about.
What sort of lunacy are you spouting?
You don’t know much about Quakers do you? 😅
