  • We want to share this process with you because it doesn't just refer to our vehicle but to all vehicles that are near the coast. Getting your vehicle done from the start will protect your vehicle from the start and no doubt give it a longer life.

      I do feel a bit better, with the rust situation controlled. Also now I really don’t need to wash it 😆

    Good evening to you two
    Karl, all our vehicles, which we use in Asia, America and also the colleagues in Australia, we previously preserved very thoroughly. Especially under the door seals.
    The exhaust system was already ordered in stainless steel, also with good underbody protection. When the vehicles are dry, spray on the bottom with oil and drive over sandy roads, allow to dry and repeat. The larger construction sites went normally 2 - 5 years, we had after 5 years, very rarely rusty spots. It was also tested after every winter, especially in Russia, when it was already fierce.
    Greetings from Frankfurt

      Hi Gerold,
      We should of done the rust proofing when we bought the truck new. But better to do it now before it gets any worse. Our exhaust is also rusting, but it should last several years.
      Cheers, Katty & karl 👍

      @@nowhereboundtouring Karl, invest a little more money in the exhaust and take 1.4571 - A 316, at least the pipes and sheet metal casing of the silencer.
      No matter what you buy, you have to be careful, or you are often terribly cheated.
      Greetings from Frankfurt, nice WE.

      Yes, thanks Gerold, we will be doing that once it has rusted out enough. We will wait until we need to do it.

      @@nowhereboundtouring Karl, I self have very good expierence with the changing of the material. Specialy in your situation, with the air from the ozean, ist this much better than carbon steel. If you have any questions about materials and weldung, contact me, I can you support. Smile, former Senior Engineer and Senior Site Manager.

    What about the caravan? Is that something to treat too?

    • @nowhereboundtouring
      @nowhereboundtouring  Рік тому

      Thanks Ben.
      The caravan does have rust protection as standard from Bushtracker, but it is now chipped off from stones. It could do with a re- coat sometime.
      One day we should get it done. 👍

    Looks like a great finish. Wondering if you might consider doing a video updating mods from the previous similar type of video. Might include the front air lockers, adjustments to the wheel to wheel full lock distance, CV boot cover protection (was spoken about but not sure if fitted) and of course the monster air compressor

      Hi Andrew,
      That is a good idea, a “ what have we changed, modified or added” video, since we started our adventure 38 months ago!
      Thanks.

    Hey guys, we’ve just discovered you, my wife and I are purchasing a truck and we have a very large dog. How do you guys get your dogs into the back of your truck?

    • @nowhereboundtouring
      @nowhereboundtouring  Рік тому +1

      Hi guys,
      We used one of those white plastic fold in half tables, the ones with a steel frame. We put a rubber sheet on it for grip. It was the large table, so they had enough room to jump up onto it, then into their cage in the canopy. They did the reverse on the way down. I tried ramps etc, but they were not interested in them. Too high and to steep

    Hey guys, just wondering what ties you’re running now and rim size please

    • @nowhereboundtouring
      @nowhereboundtouring  Рік тому +1

      We are running 19.5 “ ATW alloy rims. I have tried steel and alloy, and alloy is my preference.
      Tyres are Toyo m608z. These are no longer available in Australia. ATW now has a Federal mud tyre in 305r 70 19.5. These have the load rating and appear to be performing well, but they do wear quickly.
      Cheers, karl

      @@nowhereboundtouring thanks very much forgetting back to me Karl have you heard of the renegade tyres and if so what do you think about them?

    • @nowhereboundtouring
      @nowhereboundtouring  Рік тому

      In the last post it should be Founders, not Federal.
      I understand that Renegade only come in 17” not 19.5” rims. They are not suitable for any vehicle over 6.4T in my experience.
      Cheers, karl

    The only down side is that the interior smells like an oil refinery for weeks.
    Good to see a company doing proper rust proofing though, instead of flogging that electronic rubbish.

      Gday Spooky,
      You are correct, it took about 2 weeks for the smell to calm down, especially when you get back in after it has been sitting in the sun all day.
