This is the second time I used this video for repairing my Lenovo Tab3 Plus. It is a really informative and clear-cut picture. Thank you so much for that. I maybe threw the tablet to the garbage because I didn't find anyone to repair it

Great guide. The battery installation and removal is a bit wrong however. You can just align and slide that metal cilinder from 6:30 to the side so you dont have to force pull or push it out.

  • @stangri
    @stangri 4 роки тому +6

The battery removal step at 5:36 is wrong, you could damage either the battery wire or ribbon cable doing that. Instead, pull out the metal retainer on the other side of the battery, towards where the plastic cap holding the audio output was. Then that end of the battery slides out.
PS. At 6:26 you can see that metal retainer pushed in, in order to remove the battery you need to pull it out a bit the other way. Watch the battery reinstall at 7:04 to get a better idea about the process.

I first fixed the yellow cable that suffured from the unmounting process...
When trying to put the battery back, the metallic retainer slides itself on the "open" position that let me to install the battery with ZERO constrains. I have NO CLUE how it slided but it was very very welcome... I guess the retainer rotation shoud be on a specific rotation for it to slide.

@@soud_295 yeah the stand needs to be in the closed position for it to slide out.
I had difficulties to figure that out and couldn't find any video demonstrating. But the process in this video is clearly wrong. When the stand is in the closed position, the retainer simply slides out with ease.
Hope this helps for anyone in the future

The video is helpful. I don’t understand one thing, why disassemble the entire tablet if you can change the battery without it?

I love my Lenovo Yoga Tab3 plus. I am wishing it had a tough case for it. I tried to avoid dropping mine. It has light damage to the upper right corner. Wish you could just send it out to Lenovo for repair. There is a lot of ribbon connections to dissameble and reattach!

Successful repair story - PLEASE READ! If you have a cracked screen, on a Yoga Tab 3 Plus, for goodness sake do not go through all the steps in this video.
What is shown above looks insanely hard for the average person to do, and I've found it's completely unnecessary.
Or at least it certainly was for the screen repair I needed to perform.
A quick back story - my screen cracked whilst travelling. Probably compressed in a bag when packing the car.
The local repair shop didn't have a part for it, and told me to try Ebay, and then they would fit it.
They struggled for 90 mins to fit the new screen (with the grey plastic housing) - and I strongly suspect they did exactly what is shown above - perhaps they even googled this very video.
The repair man was then very sorry to tell me that the digitizer wasn't working on the new screen, but that he'd still spent all this time fitting it etc.
Anyhow, I paid a reduced fee to them and took it home as it was.
The screen seller in China sent a new screen, this time with no grey housing.
I thought, oh to hell with it, I'll try and fit it myself this time. So this is what I did...
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I removed the three screws on the back first, and used one of the triangular bits of plastic (a plectrum?) as shown in the video, and popped the back cover off.
But then I did almost NONE of the above steps.
I just used a stanley knife to cut through the glue under the glass around the very edge of the screen, and to tease it apart from the rest of the unit.
I didn't use the knife at the bottom of the screen, but I didn't need to, it just lifts up if you've done the other three edges.
I disconnected two - and only two - cables - the digitizer and the LCD. I will say this about the video above - it's very useful for identifying those two cables, and I thank the video creator for that part.
And then I removed the screen, fitted the new screen, sliding the cable for the digitizer through a small gap - which is obvious when you're looking at it.
I then connected the new digitizer cable and reconnected the LCD cable.
Glued the new screen back on - most of the existing sticky tabs did the job fine - I just added a few tiny drops of superglue in the corners.
(In retrospect I wouldn't use the superglue again, it's really not the best choice of glue for this job - I'd just use a bit of extra 3m adhesive strip or B7000 glue - but in my mind I never expected any of this to work, so I wasn't thoroughly researching what to do).
And I was stunned to find it's now working good as new. Took me 20-30 mins, and it's far easier than it sounds, especially once you've got the replacement screen sitting in front of you.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So my strong suggestion is - order a replacement LCD and digitizer without the grey housing
(If the only replacement you can find comes with the grey surround and housing, carefully use a stanley knife to remove it from the glass screen and digitizer before you start. But if you have to do it that way, be very careful with the new screen, and note the position of the digitizer cable from this video, so that you don't accidentally damage the new cable with the knife - that's the one tiny bit to be extra careful about).
This was for a Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Plus.

      Thanx Joe,
sounds both easier and cheaper to do it your way. But I get very unsure on what to get when I search on eBay. Can you pls provide the link to your screen, so I have a starting point to find the correct screen ... please :)

      Hi Mats,
      Sure, like this: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Original-LCD-Touch-Screen-Lenovo-YOGA-Tab-3-Plus-Tablet-YT-X703-YT-X703F/323810136967
      Or this: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-Lenovo-Yoga-Tab-3-Plus-YT-X703F-YT-X703-Touch-Screen-Digitizer-LCD-Assembly/352711556242?hash=item521f3f3c92:g:SFYAAOSwkYld42g7
      *Not* like this: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Lenovo-Yoga-Tab-3-Plus-YT-X703F-YT-X703L-Touch-Screen-Digitizer-LCD-Assembly/273771869384?epid=754321568&hash=item3fbe1334c8:g:-0wAAOSwAfhd51wi
The last link, with the grey surround, looks like it would be easier to fit, but it's actually much easier to do it with the screen in the first two links.

@@canarese143 I'm sorry to say I wouldn't be a very good guide now in how to do it. This was nearly 10 months ago, and I can't open my Yoga tab up again to check the location of the wires etc.
I'm not an expert at repairing tablets at all - I just threw caution to the wind, tried a very different, simpler approach than what it shows in the video, and I guess I got lucky.
The steps I detailed above are exactly what I did, and the tablet is still working 100% fine today with the new screen. So I'm confident in the method, but there's not much more I can say now about how I did it.
I tried to write it up as thoroughly as I could at the time (see my full first comment above - there are lots of details there), in the hopes that it helps people. But I've no video, photos or futher details about the steps that I can add all this time later. Wishing you the best of luck with your tablet.
