  • Back to regular charters from Coral Bay. Good day started steady with plenty of Pearl Perch and a few Goldband. But the fish went off the bite so because the sharks have been so good this season. I thought I would give a mark a try that I had written off as a foirbiddden shark pit. Happily suprised to find it loaded with good Rosy and Pink Snapper and no sharks to bother us.

Most of the demersal fish we only ikijime spike. As well as humanly killing the fish it make the blood pool to the spine and organs. So no need to bleed. We do still bleed some like the larger cods and pelagic species. I have shown me bleeding a few trivially in recent videos.

Its called ikijime spiking, Humanly kills the fish and the best way to maintain eating quality as it draws all the blood back into the spine and gut while stopping the buildup of acids that deteriorate the fillet.
