The Alhambra sounds a lot better than the Cordoba with headphones on. A much fuller sound and I suspect sustain as well. The Cordoba does have a cut away which will affect the sound and is a thinner bodied, more flamenco orientated guitar. One sounds good, the other sounds great. Sure, there is a big price difference. One is a good guitar mass produced in a factory in China, the other is great guitar, hand-crafted in Spain. I would take the Alhambra any day. It's a guitar you can have for life.

Guys, couple of points to answer your messages:
    1. This comparison is not to favor one guitar vs another.
    2. This comparison is just an attempt to justify a big price difference between popular and budget oriented type of guitar versus very rare and very expensive one.
    3. I can play classical and I can play flamenco on both of these guitars, and both actually work. I even played classical shows on this very Cordova GK with national champion symbol. That’s kind of the center in Washington DC, link below:

Maybe someone has mentioned this, but these are two different types of guitars. The Cordoba GK is a Flamenco guitar, hence the slight buzzing of the frets, whereas the Alhambra is a Classical guitar. Flamencos are made with less sustain, for fast picados and punchy rhythms. Classical guitars have longer sustain. There is the Flamenca Negra, a hybrid between the Classical and Flameneco guitars, which often can be used for both types of music. The GK is a Flamenca Blanca, though made with Sycamore back and sides instead of the traditional Cypress while the Alhambra is made with rosewood. So it depends more on what you want to play Flamenco or Classical music.

Yeah, and I already responded to other similar comments. These are still both acoustic guitars, that I built from similar components and in the similar way. I lowered action on both guitars, and Alhambra is not buzzing, even though it has exact same height in action.
The idea of the video is not to compare to guitars from the same class and having same options. The idea of the video is to compare to totally different guitars and how they are holding up against each other. These guitars are different in style, they are different in price, and they are different in Bill quality. And by the way, you can play classical music on flamenco guitar, and you can play flamenco music on classical guitar . Some flamenco guitars would give you buzz, others will not. These kind of videos that are entertaining for people, hence you can see big traction on this one. So I’m just giving people food for thoughts when they try to pick a style for their classical guitar, or they tried to pick brand, or they tried to pick options That each of these guitars offer. It’s just an informational video on different guitars and options, and not a fair comparison between two comparable guitars.

As an endorsed professional artist with Alhambra since 2007, I admit I have a BIG bias.
The Linea Pro is a fantastic guitar. In terms of sound, esthetic, and playability, the Linea Pro “punches way above its weight class.”
Guitarras Alhambra proves that a truly great professional classical guitar does not need to be $20k.
    Thanks for posting.
P.S. Have you tried RC Sonata Strings on the Linea? They are fantastic. Available with either traditional Nylon trebles or Carbon fiber.

Thanks for this comparison, Andy; offers points to consider. I wonder if - or how - the review would be amended if you compared the Alhambra Linea Pro against a Cordoba GK (Negra) Pro (i.e. Not the Studio). Also, What tension strings would favor each guitar. Cheerz!

    • @GuitarGuru-AndyPaul
      @GuitarGuru-AndyPaul  8 місяців тому +1

Hi, well even gk studio showed itself good in the comparison, negra pro will be very close with linea pro, and will be a matter of personal preference. Pricewise they are going to be closer to each other: Cordoba about $1900 right now and linea pro recently dropped in price $2350.
I’d still get linea pro if you ask me…
Strings, it does not depend on the guitar itself, as much as personal preference for each guitarist. I like lower and normal tension, strings, while others prefer high tension for longest sustain.
In my experience, with strings for classical guitar, or flamenco guitar, for that matter are :
      1. The Daddario pro Arte normal Tension Nylon.
      2. Savarez New cristal Corum 500CR standard tension!
      Hope this helps

The idea of the video was to compare a popular and always available choice in the US against rare and very expensive. I've played guitar for fifty years. I think that at this point in my life I deserve a class A guitar. But I lead such a hard scrabble life I can't get comfortable with the idea of subjecting such a guitar to vagaries of my day to day. I think I might have a heart attack if I scratched it, let alone exposed it to some of the other possible dangers. The struggle with this decision will continue, unresolved for now.

The idea of this particular video was to compare something un comparable, but still having nylon string guitars, that are used to play classical music, and or flamenco. The main point of the video was the price range, and I hope I was able to show that if you don’t have budget for a very expensive Guitar, you will still be fine with the price point of $600-$700 when you go with Córdoba GK

I would say, Cordoba GK studio is easier to play on overall, most likely because of the dimensions, you can play on it almost like on an electric guitar, very effortless. While Alhambra Línea professional requires more solid technique and more effort to play, just because everything is bigger and action is higher, I mean distance between strings and Freatboard, but, of course, a solid classical guitar.., It gives you better performance, overall, and better sustain, and more professional sound.
I intentionally compared 2 guitars that are far from each other, and used to play slightly different music, but that’s what made it interesting. Comparing guitars from the same class and the same price range and for the same use case is boring.)))

It makes you think and feel the wood as it plays - the brittle quality of wood. A low quality guitar has no character. It gives a generic sound. Or it can sound harsh and unmusical.

Heard of the saying 'to punch above your weight' . Well Cordoba do not punch above their weight. In fact quite the opposite. Dollar for dollar there are several Spanish made brands that will give you more quality in a flamenco guitar. And a couple of Chinese made as well. Altamira for one. But a comparison of these 2 is apples and oranges. Not only are they of very different qualities of instrument, they are also different kinds of instrument. Even an Alhambra 3F will outshoot the Cordoba. This obsession with cordoba guitars in the U.S. is quite amusing, as they are really quite mediocre. I guess it's just top marks for the marketing strategy. Really they (the affordable ones) are just another Chinese made guitar with decent quality control.

I agree, but it's not interesting to compare comparable guitars, people seem to like to see and hear the difference between instruments that are in a totally different price range and category. Guitarists like to collect different instruments so it helps them to broaden the horizon of what they can try and add to their collection, something like that. I had a Cordoba for a long time and when I finally decided to upgrade I started to look for options ad that's how I come up with the idea of this video.. Thank you for watching!

I like the girl holding both guitars, not just all the rest.

13:11 cant you hear that poor tremolo ?? If i were that poor i would not even think of playing recuerdos de la alhambra in such a video. This guy is only a beginner with some sloppy agility tricks. sorry not sorry

      1. Video is not about playing or tremolo
      2. As far as I can judge he plays better than most.
In any case, if you’re better- post your own material and see if it’ll be as successful as this video, good luck and positive mindset your way.
