What do you know about Lollapalooza? I also don't know much about Radiohead, if anyone has anything they would like to let me know about

As someone who started high school in 1991 and was in college through 2000, my 90's trivia is pretty on point. Lollapalooza was a travelling usical festival way before big musical festivals became 'a thing.' It would get a line-up of usually the best Alt/Rock (but include hip hop, harder rock, EDM, Reggae, etc as well to feature new and hot and up and coming bands. They'd have a main stage for the biggest acts, and a side stage for - at the time - smaller bands but some would go on to be huge. It was founded by Perry Farrell the lead singer and creator of huge alt-rock band of the very early 90's "Janes Addiction." Killer band. I went to 2 of them, and the line-ups as far as 90's music and just all time mega bands in diff genres as I look back, was insane. And this was the age of the mosh pit so people would go crazy in the crowds, man it was a visceral experience. Mini-Wood-stocks that went all around the country. in 1993, I saw bands headlining like Alice in Chains, Tool, Arrested Development, and Rage Against the Machine (now that was a mosh pit at it's finest - not sure how you'd emerge in one piece) and some sick acts on the side stage like The Verve and Luscious Jackson; 1994 was maybe even better, with the big acts being Smashing Pumpkins, Beastie Boys, George Clinton, A Tribe Called Quest, Nick Cave, and Green Day; with some side acts being The Flaming Lips, The Pharcyde, Stereolab and Souls of Mischief. You'd just wander around a massive racetrack and literally anything and everything was going on, and get up close for the big bands as much as you were willing to push. It is very significant as it led the way for all the big annual music festivals like Bonnaroo etc, etc, that we see today in the States and in Europe. 95 had bands like Sonic Youth, Sinead O'Conner, Pavement, Snoop Dogg, Moby, The Roots, Cypress Hill and Beck. Again, if you aren't presently too up on 90's music, Alt/Rock and Hip Hop in particular, these may not mean much, but they were some of the biggest bands around and all of them put out some incredible material that holds up to this day and are well worth exploring. Alice in Chains, Green Day, Snoop Dogg, A Tribe Called Quest, Beatie Boys, The Roots, Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, Cypress Hill, The Flaming Lips, and Beck are all HUGE artists whose music is well alive to this day and left a massive legacy on the propulsion of music the 90's provided - Beck for example won his first Grammy for best album in 2013 despite his first hit "Loser" coming out in 1993. Tool was a fringe group but now - do a Tool reaction and watch as your channel gets literally thousands of views their fanbase is so insanely massive. Alice in Chains represents the Grunge movement from Seattle along with Nirvana, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam whose influence reverberates to this day. And hip hop pioneers and total legends, Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, Cypress Hill, The Rots and Snoop - they represent the 'Golden Age' of hip hop and their amazing work pushed it from the underground to every kid's tape deck in the 90's and well, good or bad as it has gone some questionable musical directions in the 21 century, it is everywhere obviously. You caught me in a writing mood to give you a pretty complete idea of what Lollapalooza was. I never really went after 1994 as I made it to college where every night was crazy town and I didn't have the energy to seek out festivals, plus lots of cool bands played campus. No doubt Lollapalooza was a HUGE piece of musical history, very 90's, and very much a puzzle piece in shaping the current live music array of options every year out there. And the founder's band, "Janes Adiiction," - sick band, check out "Caught Stealing." Hope that was not overload, but the music of the 90's had it all, formed so much, and was a true blessing to have come of age during that time. in 1991, EDM didn't even really exist - by 2000 I was in clubs in NYC with foam drenching me, people handing out ecstasy, and mostly naked models swinging above your head on trapeze, as insane techno beats filled everyone with a unified energy. So, a lot happened, and we also got band's like Radiohead, the Beatles of my generation, and others who have stood the test of time from then till now. But the trade off is I am old now. So, that blows. But ya know, cycle of life and every day is nothing but the promise of what you make it whoever and whenever you are. Thanks for the vid, Radiohead are my all time favorite band, Pink Floyd and blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan are a clse second and third, but if you want a band with a lot of material, and almost no drop-off in quality but always evolving their style, to really take some time over the years to have an amazing musical journey with, I can't think of a better one that Radiohead, depending on your specific preferences for music. "Creep" is cool but it doesn't even scratch the surface. Peace/

Ultimate live Radiohead (and intro to the band in general) is "Radiohead: In Rainbows - Live from the Basement." I'd check out "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi - Live from the Basement" to start an even more extensive look at one of the most if not THE most iconic band of the past 30 years. They definitely have an eclectic range of music, changing up their style for each of their 9 albums, always pushing and perfecting. They go from Alt Rock, to moody trance type songs, to gorgeous acoustic, to EDM inspired work, to totally crazy free-jazz inspired all-out wildness that yet end up being phenomenal songs, to a mix of all of that! One of the best bands to approach and take some time with feeling out, some songs are layered and take a couple listens, but they have had 5 of 9 albums in the Rolling Stone Top 500 album list (take such lists with a grain of salt BUT it is a pretty insane achievement and it happened for good reason). Nice reaction! Peace/

I didn't realize how diverse they get. I did react to Elise Trouw do a mix of Radiohead and The Police and I think weird fishes is part of it. But I will add it to the list

@@AceofBadeReacts Thanks for hitting me back! Yeah man, for some context I first saw your channel due to Pink Floyd and Stevie Ray Vaughan reactions (one would say 2 world's apart musically) but those are my 2nd and 3rd favorite artists. Radiohead by far is my favorite. They started out as a banger 3 guitar attack, drum and a bass, made "Creep" as a debut, put out an incredible 2nd album to gain critical acclaim, then made "OK Computer" which stands as one of the greatest albums of all time. But then, tired of the sound that got them there, they ditched their instruments, mostly, added lots of synth and beats and ambience, and made "Kid A" also considered one of the all time great albums but also 'the biggest left turn in music history' it is SO different from their previous album which had every critic and fan proclaiming them the next Beatles. They didn't stop, going even more experimental on the next, then slowly bringing back in the organic and combining the styles in ways that make later albums like "In Rainbows" - that is the live From the Basement - Weird Fishes I highly recommend, they are so good live the same 5 high school friends, together still 40 years on, as I mentioned before, no rush per se, though the album "In Rainbows" is SO phenomenal it might cause a desire to dive straight in - some of their music is the sort that only clicks like 5 listens later but when it does it is with you forever. But yeah, this is a band that can definitely be a lifetime companion musically at a level few can claim. I love 90s hip hop, Industrial, EDM, the Mississippi delta blues....I am all over the place. But nothing, not even the Beatles or Zeppelin or Pink Floyd, to me, just found and hit and kept evolving their groove like Radiohead has, and they are still at it, just in their 50' - not really old for musicians - tail end of prime. Thanks, always liked your other reactions, would love to see some Radiohead. Peace/ Drew

He's talking about being annoyed by people. The end of the song is him realising that he's the problem "phew for a minute there I lost myself".

Ooh I get it. Complaining about people doing anything that annoys you and then realizing they aren't really annoying anybody else but you

You got it backwards. The "for a minute there I lost myself" part is the conformity settling back in. The narrator at the beginning is the one that is awake.

@@liadcohen8327 I disagree. A guy saying uninteresting things and a woman with a bad hairstyle doesn't make him 'in the right'. He's chastising himself for his negativity towards superficial things.
We could both be wrong and it's about the Labour party or something.

@@PresidentHotdog I'm not sure how to convince you that OK Computer is not a record about positive feelings. LOL. Thom is airing his grievances about how vapid the world around him is, getting a moment of boldness saying "this is what you get when you mess with us." And then in the second half, the computer comes back, the one that has to tow the line, put on the happy face, be a part of the world. The song ends right into Fitter Happier. I bet you're going to tell me that the words in that song are not meant ironically either. :)

@@liadcohen8327 Art is subjective. That's why I said 'I disagree' as apposed to 'Your interpretation is wrong'. For me it's him feeling nagative and realising he's the problem by the end. Not sure how that's a happy ending, but you spin it however you like.
I'm 40; I can make my own mind up.

This is a very loose comparison, but Radiohead is almost the Pink Floyd of their generation. They skirt a fine line between Popular music and respected musicians and composers. Without a doubt one of the top 50 greatest Bands of all time.

I don't think karma is nonsense necessarily. Even if someone doesn't believe in karma, what it represents is just about being a good person
