Seems like your night elf opponent friend at 40:00 could've used the tutorial videos. :) Glad he was so chill though asking for advice, and of course good on Grubby giving it to him! Thanks for these!
I miss the old game layout so much! Level system was so much better than MMR. Chat channels and the way icons looked in channels was so much better. Hope they keep fixing Reforged and moved back toward all the greatness of TFT
Hey Grubby! As someone who knows the game but hasn't played in ages this was very helpful to hear the perspective of a good player on how to get back into it. Thank you very much.!
Thank you grubby, your input on the WC3 community is really appreciated as I’m enjoying it for the first time since reforged, am 38 but didn’t have it or the money as a kid. I love the game though and your videos have really helped with my progression.
i have only played a bit of the main story, no mulitiplayer, but im interested in learning how, so i came here. and one of the biggest questions i had going into this was how do you hotkey control groups of certain units (heroes, soldiers, buildings, etc) i didnt even know it was called control groups before hand. the other question was how to navigate the map so quickly without clicking on the mini map, which was also tied into control groups. in my opinion those two mechanics are huuuuge in learning to play better competatively and i would agree where he says that learning those early are important. this video was immensely helpful!! looking forward to practicing these techniques and having a go at the multiplayer mode
To create a control group, you must select one or more units at the same time, and then, press ctrl + (a number of your choice) for example, 1 Whenever you press the number 1 (whatever you choose), it will highlight your control group recently made.
@@stxvwxyz1773 can you set up a control group for a hero or unit, while its still being made at the building?, like as the hero is being made in the alter, can you hover over the little portrait of the hero and use ctrl 1 to set it up in a control group before the hero has even actually spawned? also thank you for your explanation!!!

I was almost quitting at the beginning of the first part because it was too basic stuff, but he got in detail quite quickly and I learned good practices :)
I mean, not really savage. It's way easier to balance matchmaking when you only have to take two players and four races into consideration and not TEN players and ~80 different heroes.
Cant wait for reforged and watching some of your new epic battles replays like ages ago :) and thanks for keeping this game live on internet and educating new players
dude thanks for explaining the control groups. i was baffled throughout both this and the last vid how the hell you were switching between groups so fast
Use Warkeys to customize hotkeys and always have hero spells and every main actions binded to QWER like in any moba Better than old default shortcuts that good old Grubb is such used to
Omg ... this brings back so many starcraft night's where I was optimizing my build orders for some units or do some funny strats just 4-fun. I don't know if I want to do that again but it sounds kinda fun but I also got burned out of starcraft 2 and the new expansions are the worst at least for balancing in my opinion.
Todor Samardzhiev Thanks that makes sense :) The old Blizzard manuals did say stuff like that back in the days when you had to buy games in carton boxes.
every unit when it hits randomly rolls within its damage range, it can add a little rng to the game, but because of how much health units have it doesnt really as it still takes 20 odd hits for even the higher damage units to kill somthing like a grunt so it averages out pretty evenly heroes do get higher damage as they level up though, they get a few extra points in each of the attributes and every point in their "primary" atribute will add a point of damage as well so if a blademaster goes from lvl 2 to lvl 3 and gains 3 agility from the levelup he will ALSO gain 3 more damage because of that agility
@@gregsmw Thanks for the explain. A follow-up question, +3 damage does that mean when I hit a grunt with like 250 HP and after the first hit he will have 247 HP left? Not counting the heroes base attack. Never understood how to convert +1 damage from items into what it means in regards to HP damage?
Yes. Goblin Shredders give you much, much more wood as you would otherwise get from workers for the same money. They can sometimes even help you in fights altough it's quite painfull to lose them (they can at least be repaired dough). I think they are a bit undervalued but anyways, pro players also use them espacially to open up tech possibilites, which generally require a lot of wood.
34:56 I disagree? I love strong heroes and that is why I like the Undead. Lich and Death Knight together are an army on their own. Sure Blademaster is probably the strongest hitter in the game. But SH and TC are just support heroes while FS is quite underwhelming.
undead has a good combo with lich and DK, but neither is actually very powerfull by themselves, and Dk especially doesnt scale very well at all those two are taken not because they are individually powerfull heros but because they support the udnead playstyle of "efficiency" very well, DK makes the undead units that much more powerfull through movespeed and healing and lich makes picking off units that much easier compared to the orc heros all of which at later lvls are absolute monsters that can effectivly take down an army by themselves TC has huge area damage and stuns and his aura makes the orc army that much more threatening because it increases their attack speed, his ultimate is also one of the best in the game SH all3 of his basic abilities are VERY powerfull, and as he gets higher lvls and ranks them up (and gets all 3 at very high lvls) he never has a wasted ability point BM is flat out the highest dps hero in the game WITHOUT his critical strikes which boost it even higher at higher lvls and windwalk which can make him one of the hardest (if not hardest) to lock down hereos, his bladestorm can also isntantly win a fight if he is able to use it well essentially undead heroes arent there to carry their armies but rather to support their armies, while orc heros do 90% of the heavy lifting and the armies are just there to suplement the heroes
@@gregsmw well except for 3 UD Hero focus. Then they are just nasty and you lose a hero at the beginning of each fight if no Invu. potion at hand ^^ UD armys are useless without heros, but the heros can fight on their own pretty well (ofc not as well as orcs)
I've gotta say that as someone who want's to learn how to play WC3, it isn't a great tutorial at ALL. This is part 2, I've watched part 1 but then he just goes in a game expecting us to understand why does he prioritize something over something else, why does he build soemthing here and not there, how does he manage to multitask/fast build... Edit : The explanations are a bit messed up. You get a bit of commands explanations at a time and at the same one, a bit of tower placement explanations and then a bit of creeping... all of this could be so cool to hear and learn if there was a focus on them Basically, it's a tuto for someone that already has 100 hours into the game

in what way? control groups or hotkeys?
if you mean control groups he explains in the video, as for hotkeys, every command in the game (building units or buildings, attacking, moving patroling, using abilities etc etc etc) has a hotkey associated with it
in the default control layout of the game that hotkey is based off the name of the thing you are doing, for example, the "move" action is bound to the hotkey "M" while building a huntress at the ancient of war is bound to the hotkey "H" (for Huntress)
some actions because they share first initials of their names with thers have their default hotkey be to a different letter (mana burn cant be bound to M for instance as M is already move)
all hotkeys can be changed, though it is a little involved to do so, in reforged (which will be out relativly soon) they have stated that it will be MUCH easier to rebind all the hotkeys
i personaly like the qwer setup for my hotkeys, it means i dont need to remember the names/specific hotkey of every action and just press the button that corresponds to the actions location on the grid (move is top left thereefore move is bound to q for instance)
