Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I was back at this show at the weekend and took a friend who had a negative view before going in and had their mind changed!

I have never seen a single beautiful piece of art by Yoko Ono, not even at her art exhibitions. .

I found some of the concepts beautiful - but aesthetically I guess that is not really what she is going for. You are right that you don't get visual beauty from many of her works. Thank you for watching.

Afternoon George, I went on Sunday and it was very busy. I think this will be very popular with visitors: as you have predicted. The room with the White Boat and white walls is already coloured blue. I wonder if they have plans to refresh the room for future visitors. Just watched your review and found it informative as usual. Its worth becoming a member as I also did the "Capturing The Moment" exhibition and "Philip Guston" exhibition.

Hi David, thank you again for watching. I was wondering, as well, how many times they will have to refresh all the interactive works. I filmed the vlog on the opening public day and it the Refugee Boat work was already getting there - incredible that you have seen it and it is now blue already. The 'Mommy' exhibit at the end was already filling up as well. I'll definitely be along again a few times so will see. It must have been an epic art day - especially seeing the wonderful Guston show as well. I hope you enjoyed all three.

this woman is like a black whole, once light comes around her close to her it never escapes - avoid, one of the darkest pages of art; saying that I like someone the pieces very much, I feel she became one of the precursors of the performance art which is so common now; her contribution to peace if worked would be her biggest achievement. Lastly your documentry is excellent so 10 out 10 for the video

Thank you so much and I agree - she was very much at the start of performance art and her influence can be seen clearly in later artists such as Marina Abramovic. STILL underrated.

Hi George , yet another very interesting visit of your’s to the Tate Modern . I’m on duty tomorrow, so will take a first look at this exhibit , and plan a BAG sequence , (maybe) 😱

Lester, let me know what you think and I very much hope someone captures your bag sequence. Go for it! The lovely member of Tate staff tried to persuade me because she could see I was wavering and I promised I would come back and give it a go.

Thank you! It is wonderful to visit the show vicariously, as unfortunately I will not be able to make it to London this year. It was great to see the White Chess Set again - I saw the table, chairs and chess set in Berlin many years ago and remember being struck by her obvious influence on Lennon (such as the white piano) and was able to perceive her better as an artist & collaborator, not just Lennon's "wife". (And this experience encouraged me to do more research into her.)

Thank you for watching. A great show. Lennon definitely changed more as an artist as a result of Yoko's influence than the other way round, I think!

Thank you so much for this wonderfull introduction to Yoko Ono's work. I am looking forward for the show to come to Düsseldorf and see the works here from 28.09.24 on. Oh by the way the Hilma af Klimt exhibit is coming this month to Düsseldorf. Thank you so much for letting me know what I might look foreward to. Do you like AI art? Refik Anadol is in the Serpentine North Gallery in London, saw him last year for the first time. His art has something calming. Take care

such a genius who was given terrible press in relation to JL & the beatles that I as a naive individual believed for many years, until going to art school later in life - when my mind was blown. most australians still ignorant about her thanks to main stream media mocking her.

Thank you for watching again. I was so pleased that this exhibition (began) to put the record straight. I think tens of thousands will see it (possibly hundreds of thousands because it is on for such a long run) and they will see Yoko for what she is - a trailblazing artist. Sadly, the English press treated her with a mixture of misogyny and racism which still makes me angry.

Well obviously she was an interesting and talented conceptual artist before marrying John he met her at at her exhibition and loved her work himself but The Beatles had critics also all artists do the more well known you are the more praise and criticism you get people used to burn Beatles records so not surprising some would insult Johns wife too not that he cared about their opinion anyway Yoko mattered to him not them.

That is true regarding The Beatles. We often forget that. A fascinating relationship of creative equals.

As usual it’s an inviting experience to visit the galleries with you. Yoko is not easy to appreciate as an artist and after all this time her life with John Lenon has subsided enough to see her in the vital context of the ‘50’s -‘60’s conceptual art movement.
PS; I beg you to cover the Albert Ohlen show at Gagosian. I need this 🙏🥹

Hi James, HUGE apologies for not replying sooner. I missed your response. Thank you for watching this vlog and consider the Albert Ohlen show covered! I will head there before the 11th May and produce a vlog for you. Thank you for the recommendation. I actually went to Oxford a couple of years ago to film a vlog on the wider Junge Wilde movement www.ashmolean.org/event/young-and-wild-exhibition but there was a strict no photography ban imposed and so I couldn't capture it and the vlog remained un uploaded. Also upcoming is a Georg Baselitz vlog featuring NEW work so stay tuned for that too.
