First time replacing/installing new starter, what a damn relief!!! The only thing missing in this video is saying the sizes you need to remove for each bolts in diff steps. But other than that this is video is SOLID 💪🏾. Saved me $800 in labor and part! Thanks guys!!! 🙏
Wish I would have known this last yr when I replaced the starter! My knock sensor needs replaced now! Anyone know it I need new intake gasket since I replaced it last year? This video mentioned nothing about gaskets or torque specs
My knock sensor didn’t start leaking oil it was pouring oil and paying a tea for a genuine Acura/Honda starter will make it less likely to have to be replaced again
So the rsx qnd possibly other Acuras hondas have a web of interlocks switches qnd the like in the staeter circuit. The failure of any one of them will cause the starter to fail to turn when you go through the normal start sequence. On my 2003 rax there are TWO switches on the clutch plus the key interlock that can break thr circuit. Powering the starter solenoid directly off 12v is the only way to test the actual STARTER. Everything else checks the components in the starter circuit. Plus the 12v supply needs enough current so no sloppy conections between the solenoid and either eide of the power supply. The Integra starter needs a hefty 25A or so to the solenoid so if you put a cheap 15A switch on it that switch will burn out quickly, after 20 starts or so. Use a 50a switch with a solid contact when closng the switch. Plus it really needs a flyback dampener.
Is a grinding noise when cold starting a sign my starter is going bad? If the engine is warm it doesn't do it. Its just a for a second when the engine starts.
Two things before disassembling your car just lift it and check to make sure that the problem is actually the starter by giving it 12v straight off the battery and see if it turns over in neutral. Could be several things other than the battery. All related to electronics. i've just bypassed all the electronics on my car. Yes there is a chance that the starter itself is actually bad but it should be the first tested and the last replaced.
True. But this vid was about replacing it, not diagnosing it. Assumption is if you’re ready to tear into the top end, you’ve already diagnosed the issue 👍🏼
@@FinallyHeSleeps ps I think that your reply is exactly the type of reply that I would happily ignore if I saw it while the comment that you replied to is worth several hours of time plus the cost and labor to replace the starter. Something you might want to remember the next time that you feel the need to reply to a comment.
I've seen some attempt from the bottom of the car but if your car is stuck on a hill on the street this isn't an option 😂 I'm trying ot do mine from the top soon. Seems easier but just a bit more time with all the little things you need to disconnect.

If your knock sensor is original, I'd suggest replacing that at the same time too, since it's Right there.

You teached me how to do it on my car and now it’s perfectly running it’s been 2 weeks thanks
Awesome video, thanks. Easy to follow. Showing the successful start up at the end was a sweet finish.
The “what was that” at 7:15 😂
Don't you need new gaskets if you are removing the intake manifold and the tbi?
Thanks guys, helped me a lot!! There are a few other videos on this but your one is the best!
Glad it helped!
Thanks guys 🤘

It could be. It make a grinding noise for like a 1/2 second then stops?
Yep
Mine had a grinding noise sometimes on cold starts, then stopped, but now has a hard start.
Mine would grind at start too and yes it was the starter

@@FinallyHeSleeps sure just summarize the whole video and skip over the first few minutes where he says the problem has to be the starter

I’m stuck on step 9 my sensor won’t release.
Here is a video on how tto check the starter just by bypassing the starter relay.

You should've went over to not overtighten the solenoid
Now fixing a car that wont start or replacing the starter ...those are different issues.
Surely there is a easier way than this…..
Don't I wish.

It isnt hard , in and out in 30 mins tops
Nice save at 5:11 😂 I'm about to try this myself, thanks for the detailed video!
Terrible filming, and u didn't mention the IMRC connector and I nearly ripped mine out when removing the IM.
