- Introducing... My Cargo Trailer Converted Into A Modern Tiny Home! In this video I'm going to be giving you a tour of my newly converted 16ft cargo trailer. This converted trailer is truly one of a kind, and has a ton of unique features while keeping a modern design.
The space of DIY conversions has become so repetitive so I wanted to think outside of the box to create something that wouldn't only look really nice but also be functional for every day living.

Nice build. You may want to look into securing your side door latch when you are in the trailer so someone can’t lock you inside.
I actually attach the lock over the latches and put the side bar off to the side when I’m in the trailer. This was something I wanted to make sure wouldn’t happen.
I appreciate your comment! This is definitely important and it’s kind of you to take the time to mention this! 🙏🏼
Yahoo!! A Canadian built cargo home on wheels!! 👏👏👏
Heyo!!! Canadians represent 💪🏼🇨🇦
I’m impressed Jake! Wow! Well done 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Hope this little home will be used for the glory of God
Blessings
Yeah... well thought of for a small space, You sure did made it cozy and comfortable.
Thank you! I really appreciate that! 🙏🏼☺️
God's got this. 💯💯💯💯🙌
Thank you 😁
The pullout bed is a brilliant idea! I like that it is only used for sleeping and not as a gathering/seating option. Love the entire build! ❤
Thank you! I really appreciate your kind and positive feedback! 🙏🏼
Bit of advice, learn to lock the door on the outside in the open position when you're inside. That way, someone can't lock you in.
Yeah, I have a lock for the outside for when I’m inside. Appreciate your concern! 🙏🏼
Forgot you have windows. I'm a retired truck driver. One night I slept in my trailer on a cool night in a truck stop, and guy thought he'd be a good Samaritan, locking me in . No windows!! Thankfully another guy heard me.
Love the heat pump option! Makes so much sense and keeps you comfortable no matter where you are! Great build!
Yeah, I have appreciated is so much this spring when it’s between the warm and cold weather! It makes this place super comfortable and it’s super efficient!
This is brilliant. I could live full time in there.
Thank you! It honestly feels very homey ☺️
You have an incredible talent for finishing with trim and details. That's some serious designer chops.
Wow, thank you so much! I felt that was the hardest part of the entire build but I'm thrilled with how it came together! I really appreciate your encouraging comment! 🙏🏼
Well done!
Well made!
Very nicely organized.
Thank you for sharing this with us!!
Thank you! I really appreciate your encouraging comment! It’s my pleasure to be able to share this ☺️
Did you think about a "rain collection system"? then all you need are water filters and you won't have to constantly get fresh water. Just a suggestion / thought.
Yeah, I’ve thought about the concept but just didn’t have time to implement it. It doesn’t seem like too big of a hassle to get water when needed but might some something I do some research into over the next year. Thanks for your suggestion! ☺️
I’m planning to work from home in my trailer
This is great. I've seen a lot but this is the best so far❤😂
I find your eye for details is consistent with a great photographer. Your rolling home is really cool. Nice job!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your kind words 🙏🏼 I absolutely love my home, it’s such a great space!
Wow that's awesome little home
Thank you so much! ☺️
Impressive Jake! So proud of you! Safe travels!
Thank you! I really appreciate your support 🙏🏼😁
Everything looks really nice. Great work!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! ☺️🙏🏼
Love it! Genius
Thank you! 😁
Beautiful build. 😊
Thank you so much! ☺️
Great presentation...really smart design and incredible work.
Incredible job!
Thank you! I really appreciate your encouraging and kind words 🙏🏼☺️
@@jacobwagler you are welcome...I watched some more of it in detail. You totally maximized the space yet made it look roomy and comfortable.
Perfect job....
I would watch you photography courses, but I need to learn how to do video recording so I can start a UA-cam channel for myself and 5 dogs.
And hit the road in my camper...or in my bus/conversion or both.
And brilliant job on that bed. I actually can sleep pefectly with egg crate foam with a layer of memory foam since I like it super soft...and it works well on the hard floor also, but I would still have to store it somewhere...to put on the floor so your pullout seti[ would allow that also.
@@godrulesme8619 yeah, that was the goal is to make it feel open with every piece being used! ☺️
That’s great to hear you’re pursuing this path as well! There’s tons of free information on UA-cam so I would encourage you to look on the platform here 👍🏼
Best of luck to you on your adventures!!
Your trailer looks amazing!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! 🙏🏼
A very good build for most of your needs!
Thank you! It seems to meet the majority of needs ☺️
awesome build! That's what I love about cargo conversions, you can customize it to what you personally need, I really like the idea of the trundle bed under a sitting platform! Might have to incorporate that into my next build! Have you had any problems with instability while towing with all that weight at the very back? I had to re-do my camper to re-distribute the weight but I only have a single axle cargo camper.
Thank you! I really appreciate your comment! I’m glad that it could give you a little inspiration for a possible future project! I totally agree that the Cargo trailers options are limitless! I’m looking forward to seeing how you take the platform idea and innovate it to make it better!
Surprisingly the weight distribution has been totally fine. I think the reason why is because when I travel, I stow the batteries directly over top of the axels and those are the heaviest items.
Once again, I look forward to seeing your design ☺️
This is so cool man! It turned out amazing!
Thanks Brett! I worked hard on this one but it’s definitely a project I’m proud to put my name on! ☺️
Very nice buildout. Looks comfortable and has a homey feeling ❤.
Thank you so much! It really does have a comfy feeling and I love having this as my home ☺
I’m trying to build mine out in a few weeks 😅
That’s amazing! I wish you the best of luck on the big projects ahead! 🙌🏼
This is the best compact layout and build I've seen. Great job. I don't suppose you have a cut list or materials list? EDIT: (You just answered that at the end: other channel.) 2nd EDIT: (Sorry, can't find it. I tried all your links. ????).
I never considered a cargo trailer, but I'm beginning to see their value. Thanks for posting.
Thank you so much! It took me a lot of planning and thinking through to come up with the design!
I don’t have anything posted as of yet from the building process but I’m hoping to compile some edits within the next couple of months.
Unfortunately I don’t have a material list but if it would help, I can give you a brief overview of materials. I just don’t know the units of those materials off hand.
Yeah, I was thinking Bus or Box truck but with having the capabilities to drive just the truck and leave the trailer if I need to was the best move I ever could have done! I love this layout a lot!
I love your conversion. I have seen your ideas in tiny house video too. You are very creative. Nice job.👍
Thank you! I really appreciate that! ☺️🙏🏼
Thanks for shairing you home
You’re very welcome! Thanks for taking the mini tour ☺️
Fabulous trailer conversion. Best I've ever seen.
Thank you so much! That’s so kind! 🙏🏼
This is so awesome 👏🏾👏🏾U did a amazing job.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your feedback ☺️🙏🏼
I didn't find this video, it found me!
I've been considering building out a cargo trailer.
Love your designs!
I too, would probably go with a power system that's just easier to work/learn, and just tweak it as needed!
You mention a couple of times how well insulated this is. Would you give a brief description of the materials used and the process?
Or, maybe just get that other channel going for the build videos? I went looking for it and yt says it doesn't exist.
Posting here in a dedicated playlist would work too.
I’m really glad to hear you like the build! Hope it gives some inspiration for your own build!
The materials I used for insulation was 2 1/2 inches of spray foam in the ceiling, 1 1/2 inch of R10 foam board in the walls (foiled both sides) and for the floor I have 2 1/2 inch of pink foam board.
I haven’t currently edited any videos of the building process. There’s a guy named Chuck on UA-cam who converts buses and shows his process and I took all of my inspiration for insulting from his video. I just couldn’t do spray foam on the walls because the owner of the trailer before me nailed plywood to the steel channels, so I had to work around that with foam board. Works great though, had enough heat to get me through -30 degrees celsius.
Hope this helped! 🙏🏼
By far the best layout I have seen in a cargo ❤. I love the bathroom! May I ask for measurement of the shower and the wall divide the bathroom ? Thank you 🙌🏻
Looks so cozy and homey
Thank you! It really does feel homey! I love being in this home every day!
Love the bed setup
Thank you so much! Awesome to hear you like the concept!
Looks great, Jake! Happy trails!
Thank you! I really appreciate that! ☺
Nice! Enjoy!!
Thank you!! 🙏🏼
Nice but nowhere near worth 70K.
I own and operate a large company that specializes in this market. It may not be 70 K; BUT, in my professional opinion it isn’t far off. Mr. ‘@ezrhasauce7811’ doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
I was thinking the same
well done - excellent
Thank you! ☺️
Very nice! Good ideas!
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it ☺️
Get rid of the chair and get a hammock. I've slept in a hammock for 4 years and it's the most comfortable. They are an acquired sleep but once you figure it out it's the best. I'm surprised out of all the camper conversions I've seen I've never seen one person use a hammock. It would be perfect for space saving and also they are 100% washable so you can avoid all the creepers and foul smells of traveling, hiking, biking, camping,BO ect...
That’s a super interesting idea! I sounds like it would be an adjustment but something worth trying 🤷🏼♂️
Amazing
Thank you!
I'm old and would love this...lol....but in a handicap version. Even oldies like going camping, fishing. I could see me doing that and just a relaxing, playing some online gaming. Just getting away from it all. Wishing you much fun on your adventures. New subscriber btw.
Well I sure hope that you get the opportunity to get out and enjoy the life like you mentioned!
Thank you so much! Glad to have you apart of my journey ☺️
It's very nice.
Thank you! 🙏🏼☺️
Beautiful inside! You deserve d a fantastic job!!!
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it! 🙏🏼
Goodie for you 🤷🏼♀️
Try the carnivore diet for acid reflux. Trailer amazing, well done!
Thanks for the advice!
Thank you also for the compliment! 🙏🏼☺️
Great conversation ! 😊
Thank you so much! 🙏🏼
very nice!
Thank you!
Excellent build. The only thing I'd change if it were my build is to put the sink at the other end, because I'm a lefty. I would want my prep space on the left side. The counter could be used as a place to put my drink or stuff while sitting on the couch, and the sink water wouldn't splash onto the pillows. Otherwise, well thought out, cozy, & nicely built! 👍👍 Oh, and a big no on that snake on the floor... 😱
Thank you so much! That’s a good thought! I actually find I keep my work desk up all the time so it’s easy to put things on while I’m on the couch ☺️
Yeah, the water splashing is something I wish I had considered but I’m glad the cushions are outdoor cushions and meant to withstand water.
Haha my grandma had the same response about the rug 😂
Appreciate your comment ☺️
Nice Bluetti set up. I have the 200Max with 2 180 watt solar panels to run my 5x8 cargo trailer camper. My only major draw is the Frigidaire 5k btu window unit. It runs on less than 300 watts and has a soft start for the initial draw. I do want to get a Bluetti 300 battery pack to insure the storage. I was hoping to see the draw from your mini split on your Bluetti. Can you give us those specs,,nice build and thanx in bunches 😊
That’s amazing! Sounds like such a great system you have set up there!
The storage of the BC300 is definitely nice to have!
So generally if I start it fresh on a hot day, I’ll need to be pulling more watts from the start and that usually pulls just over 1000watts and I run it at that for 15-20 minutes. It cools the place down nicely and because the place is insulated well, I don’t need to run the A/C for long because it holds the cold in better. When the trailer is cold and if I continue to run the AC with the fan on low, it runs about 600-800watts. These are all readings from the Bluetti screen.
My biggest long term pull is the fridge. It depletes the battery a lot so I might try to find another solution. Guess you don’t know till you try.
I appreciate your question and I hope I answered what you were looking for!
Cool bed idea!😎
Thank you, I appreciate that! 🙏🏼
Very nice
Thank you!! ☺️
Nice build.
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Jacob, 2 questions about your entrance door: Isn't it possible that a criminal type could lock you in 😬 and does your bed overlap that same door preventing you from emergency escape?
This is dope
Thank you! 😁
@@jacobwagler question how much did you pay for trailer? And could you recommended a good place to buy one. Thanks!
@@Why_Not_travel I paid $10,000 for the trailer and I bought it from a guy on Facebook marketplace. I think Marketplace or Craig’s list is a great option. Just need to look hard for deals.
@@jacobwagler the me my friend! And I’m trying to figure out what pick up truck I one need to pull something like that I hear Toyotas are good dodge also .. but would probably go disel for the gas mileage. Again love this build man! And thanks for sharing
First I want to say nice build. My wife and I travel about 200 days of the year pulling a nucamp t@b 400 BDL. Comes complete with wet bath, kitchen, RV queen bed, small dinette, 3 way fridge (DC/AC/Propane), and microwave. My second thought, just wanted to make some observations doing a visual comparison between our rigs. I am confident you could have gone with a more energy efficient and smaller a/c - heat pump unit. We have a Cool Cat and it easily handles our 15' of living space and lives tucked under the bench, driver's side of the trailer. If your Bluetti system can power the a/c, I have to ask for how long? Is there an outside plug where you can recharge your Bluetti from shore power? Given the under carriage clearance when you were pointing out the drain pipes, could you have considered running both tanks into one outlet and placing that further back towards the leading edge of your wheels? You didn't mention the size of the gray water holding tanks - if you are at a camp ground with sewer yep you can run the sewer hose open but what about when there is no sewer connection? No stabilizers and looks like no spare on the camper so assume you carry it in your truck bed. With this design, I would be curious to the tongue weight and your true loaded weight. None of my comments are meant as criticism but are simply questions from someone who has spent a heck of a lot of time in a small camper on months long trips. The one safety concern is that propane bottle inside. Safe travels.
I live in my van too, I’m hoping my husband lives like this as well 🥹🙏🏾
What’s up with that mini split on the roof? Never seen that before.
The reason why I did that is because I didn’t have any other place to mount it. I would have mounted it on the to tongue of the trailer but I have a smaller tongue then normal.
Hi Jacob, great work ! I'm worried about the propane tank being on a shelf above the level of your bed. Because propane leaks and sinks to the ground.. right where you're sleeping!
Because I am not technical, I just want to see it. Drones on forever
put that bed on rails that be key. nice work
It would be nice to have on rails just dealing with limited space. I appreciate your suggest and your kind comment 🙏🏼
The bad music is a mistake. Why have it when all it does is distract, compete, with what you're trying to say. Does your video need some help or enhancement? Just make it better with natural sounds. If your content, videography, and narrative are all you need, why on earth ruin that with bad music. I don't get it.
Makes him sound like a psycho with ice cream music in the background
I had to keep pausing the video to be sure it wasn’t something wrong in my condo. Very annoying
What a nice build :)
I think your music was fun and upbeat. Safe travels and looking forward to more content. New sub. Light and Love everyone ❤😊
Increase your fiber and probiotic foods, decrease saturated fats. It will make your reflux go away. I love drinking Kombucha with ginger. Great work! I can see you put your heart and mind into the build.
Thanks for the tips! I’ll try implementing some of that!
Yeah, it was lots of planning and made it feel like it was me. Feels very homey inside ☺️
Taking baking soda helped my acid reflux a lot
Thanks for the tip! I’ll give it a shot!
❤Well done you have done really well. What’s it like for towing?
Thank you! I really appreciate that! It’s really smooth towing! It only weighs half the towing capability of the truck so it’s really smooth!
Great build it looks awesome. Have you thought about a tankless water heater? They take up hardly any room..
Thank you, I really appreciate that! I think I did look into them but I think running the water the way I wanted just wasn’t going to be exactly what I wanted. I really like my water heater ☺️
FYI - Distilled water is BAD for you - it leaches-out important minerals in your body. It's better to have purified tap water.
Might be part of your acid reflux. You could add trace minerals to your distilled
Agreed. Do NOT drink distilled water. Not good for you and will eventually have significant impact on your body…..
So you’re saying natural water like rain water is bad for us ? Nope you’re wrong it’s the best drinking water, pure water with no additives is the best water to drink
Distilled water is sterile water like used in surgery ....it is not bad for you!
@@hextorcampis6113that’s not the same thing…
What I want to see is somebody take a thousand dollar trailer and turn it into a travel trailer by spending a couple of thousand dollars on it. Spending $80,000 dollars on a trailer that small is insane.
Could you please share the build video for this? I looked in the underneath this video area, but I couldn’t find the link to the other channel onUA-cam….. I think that your trailer bill is brilliant and I would love to see how you did it so I could borrow some of your ideas for mine 😊. blessed travels and bravo Zulu!!!!!! job well done
Sorry about that, I haven’t gotten to editing up the building part yet. I’ll try to follow up if I make it there 😅
Thank you so much though, I really appreciate your kind comment! 🙏🏼
Some interesting ideas, but having to move chairs around would drive me nuts. However it’s obviously perfect for you. Best of luck.
Yeah, it’s not ideal but I’ve found a groove to adjust and adapt to it. Thank you so much! ☺️
Nice trailer. Please share the color of your cabinet doors.
Nice job. Where do you sleep - the lounge area? Also, I don't see the link for the lounge covers.
You’ll have to watch the entire video yo see where I sleep haha.
Ohh sorry, I thought I linked them. The covers were custom made by a company called “Covers and All”.
Does your mini split condenser stay up on the roof where we see it?
If you think your power supply will allow it you may want to pick up air fryer, they are small and compact and will allow you to bake food vs just a Cook top. You can get one under $100.. nice build
That’s funny you mention that because I had the same idea! I bought an air fryer and it’s the handiest thing ever! I love it and it’s quick! 😁
Thanks for your comment and suggestion ☺️
Cool set up. What size is trailer
Thanks! It’s a 16ft trailer.
Great Build though I question the position of the main unit for your mini-split, seems a bit out of place up on top.
Yeah, it’s not ideal but I have a smaller tongue on the trailer then normal so I had to place it up top. The height is still lower then your typical RV so I’m still good with height 👍🏼
Do you use a locking system for your drawers to keep them from opening?
Honestly I should but I haven’t been able to figure out a good solution. How I keep my drawers from flying open is by stacking my chair in front of them and they don’t move. Not the most efficient but it’s worked. I know many other people have a better solution.
Super - what truck model and special towing do you have on it ?
I’m using a Ford F-150 V8. It has a towing feature on it but I don’t believe there is any specialty towing features.
Hope this helped 🙏🏼
Why didn't you put the aircon on the tongue of the trailer rather than protruding out of the roof?
I wanted to but unfortunately this trailer had a smaller tongue then the normal Cargo trailer so it wouldn’t fit unfortunately.
That AC unit looks like an accident waiting to happen.
Is there a way to lay it flat while in transit?
Another concern are the door locks outside, I would want to do something to keep from having someone lock me in.
I know it doesn’t look like it, but with the standing height from ground to top of the A/C, it’s actually shorter then a regular camper. I pass under everything without issue. Also, it needs to be fixed because of the copper lines running to the head unit inside.
The door latches have locks on the at all times when I’m inside the trailer so there’s no way for anyone to lock me in. I appreciate your concern though!
What was the brand of batteries and inverter?
Y first thoug... What do you do if someone lock your door from the outside, when you are inside.?
Sure let's not let the Star link get knocked off the top yet the mini split is sitting up higher. You didn't mention how you're lower it.
Jacob, good custom details. Who makes that lighted mirror, please? Tx Rich
Thank you, I really appreciate that! 🙏🏼
I picked the mirror up from Costco. The Brand name is Artika.
@@jacobwagler good old Costco :) We don't have one of those here but I'll keep my eyes out on line. Tx, Rich
Since the minisplit points to the side instead from the rear, do you have any short cycling issues where it doesn't cool long enough to dry down the air to reduce humidity?
No, it keeps the place really cold and it’s cools the trailer down within a matter of minutes. I haven’t found an issue with humidity. Never had any issues 👍🏼
@@jacobwagler thank u so much for responding
❤How do you prevent water ingress from the wifi cable hole?
I have it both spray foamed and siliconed.
Cool build man. You forgot to put a link for your bed cover .I think you said " Cover and ?.
Sorry about that. The covers are from a company called Covers And All 👍🏼
Have you weighed the trailer when full yet? Curious!
Yeah, it’s weighed out at 3,800lbs. Trailer is rated for 7K lbs
Brilliant design. Very creative. Well done.
Thank you! ☺️
I plan to do the same with my eco flow for power. I’ve not seen anyone use them this way before and was wondering if anyone had.
Yeah, honestly to avoid the headache of regular solar set up, I think this is a phenomenal solution! They’re such easy units to use and I find them pretty effective for what I need ☺️
i have a question on the main door what if some one used the door handle to lock you in????
They’re not able to because I lock the main latch every time I go in the trailer.
Great job building the trailer, but I wouldn’t take bets on the ac not getting knocked off of the roof.
Thanks, I appreciate that! I can’t see a time that it would ever happen. It’s lower then a typical RV and it’s securely bolted with a heavy aluminum casing built around it, also bolted to the roof.
Could you tell me how long your system will run the mini split Thank you !
I can’t get too technical on the run time but I usually just use it to cool off the place and shut it off so it doesn’t run full time.
When it’s cooling it doesn’t hit 1000watts of usage.
The propane tank should be isolated in its own sealed compartment or outside. Otherwise, a nice job.
how to protect the bluetti from a solar flare?
I’m honestly not too sure. I know that it does have a lot of smart features in it to protect it from surges.
Just discovered your channel. Have you really thought thru your entrance door? The latch on the outside could be closed by some nut and you would be locked in. That is a disaster just looking to happen. There are a lot of crazies in this world today. Do you have someway to get out should that happen. like the camper.
It’s all good, I have a lock on the outside latch so no one can lock me in. Even if they did though, I can still get out through a window 👍🏼 Appreciate your concern!
Why didnt u put the mini split bottom front?
I don’t have a full size hitch so it wouldn’t fit. I tried to come up with other mountain options but it would interfere with the truck so I mounted it on top.
Is that a 3 gallon water jug is it a glass or plastic. Having this argument with my spouse over this… please clarify
Haha it’s a plastic jug. Appreciate you watching and hope this cleared things up! 🙏🏼
