Randy with his ladder at 13:13 & 17:40 "not my jam", LOL! When I lived in SoCal I climbed my 30' extension ladder to trim the king palms next to my pool. Did not use a ratchet strap, reached around to prune fronds & seed pods, ladder went diagonal on me. Eventually dropped the ladder, hugged the trunk and slid down. My bare thighs were rubbed raw. Lesson learned, now I will always strap the ladder... or even better hire Randy.
Jake in a Live Oak climbed from a roof, and Randy in a Coconut Palm on a 30 foot ladder with a handsaw... the exact OPPOSITE ends of the Arboreal Spectrum. I'm Luvin' It! 🧡🧡
Little trivia for the brain. Live oaks are sought after for the curved limbs for wooden ships, and such . They make excellent beams for the bows, as well as the ribs of the ships, and yachts that are made the old fashioned way. There use to be a older gentleman from Georgia that has a homemade huge bandsaw that specializes in live oaks. Cutting up the curved limbs due to the shear size of his saw. I'm sure if you did a search on UA-cam for the homemade Georgia band mill cutting live oak, you'll be able to locate him easily enough as there has been several videos made about him and his band mill
I LOVE climbing on 32 foot aluminum ladders!!!! Love the bounce, the shakiness, the feeling it will flip over and let you drop....good times! Standing them up is a treat too!!! ugh. Randy needs a trash can to aim the coconuts into!!! Great video!
I had to use a 19' ladder for a small tree. A snow storm broke out half of the top. I only had a small bungee to secure the ladder. I'll have to try using a ratchet strap next time.
Glad to see Randy do palms. I live in southern Arizona and trimmed my palm trees for 15 years. Started out with ladders, but they grew fast ~1+ ft/yr. Finally had to invest in boots, spurs, harness, saws (fronds cut like butter while green), etc. Had lineman lab course in college, so that came in handy. Palms are messy. Once you remove the frond matrix from the trunk via ladder, then they can be spur climbed. But the bugs, wasps, bees, ants, and spiders in the frond matrix is something else!! 🤯 Dunno what's easier, trimming lots of coconuts or thousands of little dates... Thanks for sharing your trip! 😊
Neighbour is having trees removed between their house and the boundary. They are doing it from my driveway, I’m loving it. Baby cherry picker, not in your class but still fun to watch them work. AA Taylor Tolga QLD Australia, good guys. If you see them working you can ask and they will give you a load of free garden mulch.
Great show. I’m proud to say I have nine live oaks with my oldest being 200+ years old. All the others are under a hundred which is why we call her “Mama”.
Greetings from the BIG SKY. Can't blame a guy for getting out of the rain for a while. I can see a good foot of snow out my kitchen window right now. Dig it.
I loved this video Jacob! You and Randy together make me laugh! Poor Randy up a ladder and making a new Lizard friend and you walking around in a tree having so much fun!
That dudes boat is nice. I live on the Gulf coast of Florida. A town called Venice. I hope your guys trip to Florida was a good one. Those live oaks are cool. They are everywhere down here. Another cool tree is the banyan tree. Thats how most guys trim the palm trees down here is with a ladder
Man wish you would come to South Carolina to Myrtle beach. You and randy and you could climb all the live oaks you want. Except in Surfside beach you have to get permitted to cut them and cannot take anything over 8 inches unless pre approved for certain parts to be removed! BIG BIG fine but we prolly done 4 live oaks the same same size as the one you we’re in! Pines, Oaks, Gums & Cedars! Some Cypress but not much! Love the vibe you guys have together. I think randy needs to become a permanent part of these episodes/videos! Memories made day by day that want ever be forgotten! Promise you that! Hope to see you in NC, at Arborfest! 🙏🏼💪🏼💯
You guys have the sharpest hand saws I have ever seen. In my 25 years of landscaping I've never seen one cut an hardwood like this. So many times I could have used this. I would love to know more if you need video ideas. P.S. dude that just sandwiched 2 slices is OP AF.
Hell yeah! I just fixed up an old lawnmower that used to belong to one of my neighbors who died, I ended up rage quitting around the middle of the night because I had school the next day, turns out the only problem was the fact that the carburetor was full of water. I find it funny how a lot of GOT videos are blocked at my school computer, yet there are so many other terrible things that are still unblocked.
Still at the beginning of the video but I'm so excited to see you get to work on a live oak. I live in Mobile Al and we work with historical oaks daily. And I have always wanted to see your reaction to them! Also have been watching you since I began my career in tree work about 3 years ago and appreciate everything man! You've taught me a lot and I'm glad I get to watch you on this tree work journey!
Great job Jake is always just thinking that's a tree company in Florida I used to live down there so I know the heat and they have black work shirts LOL
If you are intrigued by live oaks jake I suggest you come to savannah georgia area, they are everywhere and some have limbs that reach the ground and keep going
Aloha, I would suggest that when doing cocos with a handsaw which is pretty strenuous to start cleaning from the bottom and get the whole shoulder at one time. Haha or just use a cane knife it’s a lot easier and a lot cleaner
Man I have to say this is what I want to do for a living its really the perfect job for exercise , fun , and just being satisfying and rewarding people who do this job and love it have to be really truly happy with their life man ive gotta get into this line of work Any one from around Nashville TN want some help on the weekends im down to come learn and help
Jacobs task makes memories to his childhood but randys was threatened by ladder😄 tree climber dont ladder i agree with on that. But anyways coconut juice is sweeter than any juice.Coconut trunk is like a reptile..enjoy to see you guys.. 👍
From the Northeast, but several years ago we rented a place near Ocala, FL. There was a tremendous live oak on the property that didn't look that large in a photo, until you realize the tiny red dot at the base was my wife! 🤤 The landlord said that the National Park Service would stop by occasionally to take measurements for an annual "Oldest Tree In The US" survey. It never won, but the arborists estimated it's age to be over 500 years old! Can you imagine the hurricanes, tropical storms and lightning that thing has seen? Side note: live oak was the wood of choice for the masts of old sailing ships.
The water out of that green coconut is a super food for living soil. It's loaded with enzymes that fuel soil biology. I'd imagine it's good for our digestive systems as well.
hurricanes are no fun here in Florida. I live in Florida and its not fun at all but after awhile you get used to it. i hope your enjoying Florida or enjoyed it at least (despite the heat).
One thing I really miss about tree work is the camaraderie between crew members. Your videos really show that aspect- brings back some really nice memories...
We have tons and tons of live oaks out here in California in El Dorado county and we also have big blue oaks and black oaks, there some of the fun trees to removal gets you to think lol. Great job on the videos Jake and keep it up love the videos!!
The iguanas get so big eating those roaches I told you about that hang out in the live oaks. I go outside at night sometimes and shine a flashlight on the trunks of mine and there they go, scurrying along until they decide to fly like the demons of Hell they are, right towards you.
There is a live oak in Culpeper Virginia, where the base of the tree is almost as wide as a Amazon delivery van! The road curves around the tree! It's got to be 500-600 years old!
Jake there's a UA-camr Tips from a Shipwright who would be very interested in that live oak. Also there's a fellow in Washington who is rebuilding a classic sailing yacht Tally Ho who might be interested in some pieces as well. Live Oak in the wild is pretty rare these days.
They have 38:30 take them to the beach and sell them to tourists for like $5 each. Or to a beach bar and sell the bucket for a round of beers for the guys.
You definitely need to teach these guys how to, “SPEED-LINE!” and furthermore, show them the benefits of it. It sure beats cutting off a small piece and handing it down to some guy. Live Oak is considered per square foot, Some of the heaviest wood there is.
I'm an Arborist in south Houston, I do Live Oaks every other day! About 70 percent of the trees I do are hardwoods. Would love to connect with you sometime. I can put you in some more live oaks, Post Oaks, red oaks ect.
IDK who is editing your stuff but its on point brother. I love every second of you content. Keep on taking us with you my dude. Bravo. My favorite was the Rainbow Trees you did. I think it was you anyways. So cool.

Can you find me some ladder work? 😂
Especially when you’re carrying a solar panel that weighs about 25,35 pounds if the wind starts, you’re done either have to drop the $300 panel or die
Randy on the boat: Every day man. Every day
Randy on the ladder: Jake when is the flight home?
😂
Lmao
Randy will climb a 200ft pine here in the pnw with no problems. Nemesis is the aluminum ladder
Glad to see Randy do palms. I live in southern Arizona and trimmed my palm trees for 15 years. Started out with ladders, but they grew fast ~1+ ft/yr. for some reason the idea of attaching small sticks to your harness and rapping down instead of rigging is so satisfying LOL

Loved it when you called Randy Florida Man. Arborist on a ladder, what could go wrong. 🤣 🤘😎✌️
Way to go Randy for swallowing fear and getting it done.
Welcome to Florida!
Great show. I’m proud to say I have nine live oaks with my oldest being 200+ years old. All the others are under a hundred which is why we call her “Mama”.
Yeah... welcome to Florida I'm from Miami, Florida guys you are doing a good job
With that sprawling oak and the super nice neighborhood I got a real "Blair Glenn" vibe on this one.
Greetings from the BIG SKY. Can't blame a guy for getting out of the rain for a while. I can see a good foot of snow out my kitchen window right now. Dig it.
A little out of comfort zone . Sometimes fun after over .
Randy has the absolute best attitude ever!!!
My home state!
I’m sooooooooo glad 😀 to be back!!! Watching my favorite tree 🌲 guy!!!
I love Randy. He’s like ahhhhh I’m so scared. I get it Randy. I get it.
Looking fresh there trimmed up

Another good video lots of different tree work will save to watch again its one of them you need to watch twice its very interesting

Learned something new about strength with just 10% crown reduction! Another great video!

They are silky handsaws. Available at sappysupplies.com :)
@@GuiltyofTreeson Silky hand saws are bad ass!
We all love them.
Wow is amazing💪💪
Iggy!🦎 Jacob, you and Randy are too much fun to watch! I throughly enjoyed this vid!

Props to Randy, those ladders always feel sketchy whether it is strapped to the tree or not. Great work guys!

That’s looks like the live oaks we have here in South Carolina. Crazy cool trees. Nice job. Stay safe
Lmaoooo jake calling the iguana coward was priceless
Great job Jake is always just thinking that's a tree company in Florida I used to live down there so I know the heat and they have black work shirts LOL
19:15 I think the word your looking for is "jungle gym"
You really get to do some cool jobs. You guys are lucky being independent contractors.
Awesome I actually live in Florida and do tree work and landscaping it's definitely enjoyable great job guys
If you are intrigued by live oaks jake I suggest you come to savannah georgia area, they are everywhere and some have limbs that reach the ground and keep going
Tree work in south Florida Is another animal, palms and some of our wood takes a toll on saws
Aloha, I would suggest that when doing cocos with a handsaw which is pretty strenuous to start cleaning from the bottom and get the whole shoulder at one time. Haha or just use a cane knife it’s a lot easier and a lot cleaner

14:01 “Holy macaroni and cheese” 😂
Ratchet strap on the ladder ✊, I've been known to do that when I don't have a saddle and spurs
I miss all the live oaks down in South Georgia
Jacobs task makes memories to his childhood but randys was threatened by ladder😄 tree climber dont ladder i agree with on that. But anyways coconut juice is sweeter than any juice.Coconut trunk is like a reptile..enjoy to see you guys.. 👍
mint video
I love doing those palm trees. I have a 32 extender. That's my reach. Won't do taller lol.
From the Northeast, but several years ago we rented a place near Ocala, FL. That my kind of tree pruning in the uk. Broad crowned canopies, mostly Deciduous .
Great job..
Can't wait to see you take down a live oak.... You got to get pretty crafty with your rigging. Love your content bro.
I’m going next week 👌🤘🤘🤘
That transition at 16:52 to 17:00 was sick and smooth!! 🤙
Thanks!
Totally awesome adventure! Love it!
I don't blame you one bit Randy...the only time I've fallen doing tree work and been hurt was when I was using a GD ladder!!!
Awesome video Jake, Love seeing you go from one place to another great job
Thanks a ton!
Live oak is one of the prettiest trees here in flordia
The water out of that green coconut is a super food for living soil. It's loaded with enzymes that fuel soil biology. I'd imagine it's good for our digestive systems as well.
Randy needs a V-Rung for the extension ladder, like the linemen and cable installers use on telephone poles.
If I must go up tall ladders on a tree, the shot line and the rope take it up to position. Tie it off and ride that shaky beast.
I hate 🪜!
There’s live oaks like that around in Georgia. Savannah has some massive ones
hurricanes are no fun here in Florida. I live in Florida and its not fun at all but after awhile you get used to it. i hope your enjoying Florida or enjoyed it at least (despite the heat).
One thing I really miss about tree work is the camaraderie between crew members. Your videos really show that aspect- brings back some really nice memories...
working on a stepladder all ways scares me heck out. glad we only have only about 2 weeks per year where we have to preen linden
WOW!!!
Randy climbing a 200ft fir: No problem
Randy climbing 30ft extension ladder: Nope
We have tons and tons of live oaks out here in California in El Dorado county and we also have big blue oaks and black oaks, there some of the fun trees to removal gets you to think lol. Great job on the videos Jake and keep it up love the videos!!
Island Boy 😂
Live Oaks do often uproot from ground saturation, mostly after a hurricane. that guy was incorrect about them rarely uprooting
Our Live Oaks are over a century old and still standing after many hurricanes. Uprooting much more common with other species
Hey jack you should of been the one to trim the coconut tree lol because you had experienced on it when you were in Honolulu Hawaii
Outstanding job & welcome to my world in the tree world we cut all kinds of fun stuff btw igwonas are invaiacive species
Live oak is extremely hard as well and nearly grain structure but pruning them is tricky to not kill them.
Awesome clip! So different than western PA!!! Keep up the great content!!!
The iguanas get so big eating those roaches I told you about that hang out in the live oaks. I go outside at night sometimes and shine a flashlight on the trunks of mine and there they go, scurrying along until they decide to fly like the demons of Hell they are, right towards you.

We have live oaks all over Texas.
Jake there's a UA-camr Tips from a Shipwright who would be very interested in that live oak. Also there's a fellow in Washington who is rebuilding a classic sailing yacht Tally Ho who might be interested in some pieces as well. Live Oak in the wild is pretty rare these days.
Ship builders want white oak.
I have several live oaks much bigger than that here in SE TX in my front pasture. They are everywhere in SE TX and SW LA.
17:45 those lighter weight aluminum ladders have more bounce to them vs the super heavy duty fiberglass ladders.
We have those live oaks here in Virginia, they get huge
They have 38:30 take them to the beach and sell them to tourists for like $5 each. Or to a beach bar and sell the bucket for a round of beers for the guys.
Resurrection fern is what’s on the trees I believe it can go 100 years without water and as soon as it does will green right up. Kinda wild
That's what she said ! LOL

Live Oak = Jungle Gym. Yup.
1:44 my home away from home is about a half mile from this spot, Atlantic Blvd. at the intercostal
