Hey, when i timing a vp44 on car i put with comparator 0.90 (thats write on pump) Then block then i put engine in TDC. But when tighten the bolt on pump the measure on the comparator moves. and when I check again if the pump is in timing it is not correct. What to do?

I am having a very quiet knocking noise only when I accelerate coming from my engine, it is diesel 320D like in this video. Do you think it is injector knock? Should I do leak-off test? 238 000 KM 2002

I know this is an old post but was there a woodruff key on the end of the pump spindal. there is a groove there for one! Or is the timing sprocket just held on with the tapered pressure?
Crank i have removed my vp44 pump but i have a groove on the spindle every one calls it a key way i’ve seen loads of videos and people say make sure the key way doesn’t fall out does it need one or can i put it back it and tighten it back up

Като я закача на програмата ми показва че е на 58 градуса а желаните градуси са 6.От къде може да идва този проблем.

Момчета и аз минах през ремонт на ГНП на 136 к.с., сега на първа и втора минават 2-3 секунди след като натисна педала на газта за да почне да ускорява. Как мога да разбера дали проблема е заради не добре зацепена помпа и къде ги изкарваш тези градуси. Търсих, но не намерих такъв клип или информация за диагностика на гнп и тези градуси, за които споменавате.

I never removed my 320d's pump, but I will do it (in quite some time - my car has 300 000 Km and the psg5 should have failed long long time ago :D). For this reason I have a couple of questions. Fixing this ones require only the pumps electronic controller to be removed because the failure is in there, right? So, why have you removed the entire pump? Why not remove only the top controller? AFAIK the mechanical failures are darn rare on this pumps (contrary to Delphi's on Renault/PSA), am I wrong? Why have you locked the engine? If you remove the pump, it can fit back-in to its timming wheel in only one position, but maybe I'm wrong again.
Hi Alin D ! I had many cases where this type of pumps had mechanical damage . If i remember right , to remove the electronical controller you need to cut 2 wires and after that solder them . I locked the engine cuz the pump doesn't have woodruff key , so you can mismatch the timing easily aka there is not only one position you can install the pump ( i showed this in the video actually ) .

Hi, i have a e90 320d wich is also just cranking but not starting. I have changed the glow plugs and fuel filter, and the feed pump (or low pressure pump) is working, could it be rail or injectors aswell? Diagnosis just says fuel pump problem
Crank Nice to hear 😁 I was driving today and out off nowhere it just died and couldn't start it again. Hooked up my Hella Gutmann 56 with no error codes at all. Checked fuel lines on injectors and there was plenty of diesel coming out. I then looked at the pump and looked exactly like VAG pumps, and they have alot of problems.. So yeah haha. Did you repair yours or just a new one?
Most of the time if it fails , there should be some error codes , like in this case : Fault 66 - Control unit DDE (EEPROM and configuration) Fault 42 - DDE control module (EEPROM and configuration) Yes this pumps are used everywhere ! Ford , Nissan , VAG etc. probably most popular diesel high pressure fuel pump ever . I repair it , we have guy in our country that deals only with this pumps VP 30/44 , and he have A LOT OF WORK :D Try to hook up the car with different scan tool .
Actually i never installed new VP 30 / 44 , we always use repaired ones . We talked about that few times with the mechanic that repair them . He told me , before installing every pump on his bench test , he need to unlock it , and it takes around 20-30 mins to unlock it with his diagnostic tool , before every bench test . So its time consuming if you searching little problems in the pump itself . So probably there should be some programming with the EWS ( immobiliser ) of the car . Still not 100% sure . BTW try to disconnect the main fuel line that goes to the fuel injector rail and see when you cranking , does it makes enough pressure or just hook up the diagnostic tool and check the live data when you cranking , how much fuel pressure the sensor reads .

Its not the same its more easier because you don't have to lock the pump in position (pump have spline ) you just have to mark the pump to the block because the pump can be rotate to left or right (this is very important because the good start on the engine depends on it)! I'm not a mechanic but with my brother did it and now the car work perfect M51d25 is good engine :)
@@Runmeerkat You have to make your own marks on the pump and on the block with something sharp (scratches) and when you put the pump make sure the marks match. I forget on my old post you should have a special pump key to remove it (injection pump removal tool) this tool help you to remove the pump and the same time hold the sprocket. If you change rubber gaskets on the pump you gonna need some diagnostic software to setting milligrams of injection.

Only pressure hold it , and it holds a lot for sure , no need for any woodruff keys

You need to watch the live data , while you cranking the engine . Check how much pressure do you have in the fuel rail , during that .
Tried changing to new injectors, same problem, maybe some electrical issues,..

Can't tell for sure , never worked on M51 before . This is different generation diesel engine , so it's possible to be other method
Its not the same its more easier because you don't have to lock the pump in position (pump have spline ) you just have to mark the pump to the block because the pump can be rotate to left or right (this is very important because the good start on the engine depends on it)!
