I have one of these that I will have had for three years as of tomorrow (9 June 2020). She was a tiny sling when I got her, but she has grown a bit. She's still not very big yet, maybe 2-3 inches if I had to guess but she was maybe 1/4" when I got her if that, so she has grown a lot. She doesn't really burrow, she doesn't really web up her enclosure much, and she likes to either be in her hide or right out on display. Usually more on display than in the hide. She's skittish, but a voracious eater. She runs and hides when I open her enclosure but darts out to get the food as soon as I drop it in. Sometimes she will go into the attack pose before snatching up the food or if you are messing with the enclosure while it is still closed.
She isn't very blue though, I'd say she has more of a pinkish color with some blue barely there underneath the pinkish hairs. She usually looks really pretty right after molting though, but right now she's kind of ugly. I think she is probably about to molt again soon. She always looks rough right before molting. Her butt loses most of its hair and she looks dull. That's how she looks now and the area where her legs meet her abdomen are kind of shiny looking.
How old is the one in this video? When do they start to take on that beautiful shade of blue?
They do look rough as they prepare for a molt , can also have a pinkish hue on them , my girl is around 4 years old, really looking forward to her maturing in a molt or 2
What a stunner! Cant wait to watch my dot grow
I've had this from a little a.dot
@Scott's Inverts how long to get her to that size?
Beautiful spider Scott, I’ve got two of these. One a small juvenile and the other a sling. I cannot wait to see them get larger
You wait till.the juvie molts mine molted twice in 3months
awesome video scott
Thank you Susan
Wow! What pretty tarantula Scott, that almost indigo blue is mind blowing and well behaved she is!! Excellent video Scott thanks again for sharing!!🕷
Thank you Joe
What a stunning t cant wait to see mine get this big and you done a qmazing job with this enclosure curious to see how the peat moss stands upto the dampness ane humidity but definitely goint to pick up a few bags
It's all still going good bro
I disagree about the temperature because the region in Brazil that they are live has extreme temperature fluctuations.I have had them for the last 10 years and found that they are thriving in large environments where they can 'self regulate' (= having the opportunity to choose their temperature and self regulate- which requires a larger environmentas recommended by shops/sellers.)..Anyone reading my comment: please research as the word large can encourage people to use a 'too large environment' while a standard recommended size which would be too small.).
I have found that both, male and female choose to be next to the heat mat (even with a Habistat thermostat and recommended temperatures.), asking for more heat.
A captive held animal is no joke and their keeper must learn to read their needs.
Brazil does has fluctuating temps just like every place on earth, with yours staying in one place of the enclosure near a heat matt surests if given a area of stable temp to there liking they happy to stay there

I have a sling that isntakomg ages to grow 1 milimetre😢
As soon as it gets a lil but bigger it will grow well
Mine molted on may 21st 2023, after 7 months of being premolt. Mine is a about 1 in sling. One question, is spraying the 2 corners of the enclosure so the bottom layer gets soaked once a week ok? I also mist the top of the sub so it stays damp. Thanks in advance Scott!
That's perfect Seth
@@ScottsInverts Thanks a lot!
No worries
@@ScottsInverts One more question, should I keep the sub damp for adults and juries too?
Hi, I really wanna know, what happens if the pterinopelma sazimai bites.
Would prob be a like a uk bee sting
