Saw Frampton a few years ago and was blown away. The music, the musicianship was of course amazing. But what got me was how much unadulterated joy he had playing! And how generous he was letting the rest of his band just shine individually. An absolute class act. And I also love whenever Rick Beato talks about Peter Frampton 😁
Thanks Michael. I saw Frampton in Oakland, Day on the Green, when Frampton Comes Alive was recorded. And have seen him since at small venues in SF. A talented artist with integrity, and a humble gentleman. (Humble Pie)
Lucky to have witnessed Frampton play live twice: on the “I’m in You” tour, and at a Les Paul Birthday concert, and he was phenomenal. Absolutely one of the best, and one of the most underrated, of all time. Screw the “professional” critics.; most who, can’t even play a a single note on a middle school recorder, much less a guitar. Great video.
Had the privilege of seeing Peter last year in a small venue first row and he still rips he does walk with a cane now and sits for his shows but is still amazing
In 1976 I had to decide between Peter Frampton and Robin Trower because I only had money for one ticket. I went to see Trower and have never regretted it. But I still have the iconic album "Frampton comes alive" in my vinyl collection. At that time he still played the legendary Gibson Les Paul Black Beauty. 👍
SEEN HIM ON THIS TOUR AT A SMALL CASINO VENUE IN NORTHERN MICHIGAN.... WAS PLAYING BLACKJACK WITH MY FRIENDS, AND "SOME GUY" BEFORE THE SHOW....... GOT INTO THE VENUE TO FIND OUT "THE GUY" AT THE BLACKJACK TABLE WAS HIS BASSIST!!!! LOL...... GREAT SHOW, AND FRAMPTON'S TONE HAS ALWAYS BEEN STELLAR!!!!!
I've been playing at guitar for a long time and just started working on my vibrato 3 or 4 months back. It's getting better. Sometimes I just sit there and practice that. I play the very beginning of the Rikki Don't lose that number solo so I can practice goin from a straight note to a bend with vibrato. I used some vibrato in the past but it was always without a bend. A little more difficult to do once your in a bend and almost impossible if you don't know the mechanics of how that's done. I never thought much of it until I hard Eric Clapton in an interview talking about how important a good virato is. The interviewer asked how long does it take to do that and Eric says "Oh it can take years to develop."
I recently found an excellent guitar player who tragically passed. Phil Emmanuel, older brother to Tommy. In my opinion a cleaner tighter version of Tommy. Several UA-cam videos of them together. Worth a watch. Karen.
So lyrical. If you ever want to demonstrate 'how to play what you're singing inside' , super important, review 'Do you feel it like we do' from PF long ago. His solos are pure singing, even to the point of pausing to breath between phrases. It can be so much more lyrical and gets one away from playing stock pentatonic riffs.
Hey Michael, hope you see this. I watched you become a deadhead in the early days of your channel, and your reaction to Morning Dew 77 was a beautiful thing to watch. I went through a similar journey from fan (like, saved my life level fan) to playing with Jay Lane and DSO with Donna in the front row, to sitting with Phil and JillI at their sons' first public performance. I found an excellent transcription of Garcia's parts that is absolute gold. ua-cam.com/video/MPuDPKwuxFQ/v-deo.htmlsi=Aks3Eb6jouXMMvyp Probably the best feature is during the climax chord soloing you see Garcia's insane creativity to a degree that is difficult to grok just by listening. For example, at one point he uses an a major barre shape that utilizes an open string in place of the 12th fret. It makes the chord exponentially more powerful. I have never seen or heard it anywhere else, and as far as i can tell Garcia used it one, two strums. There are lots of crazy examples of that, where Garcia would do something stunning...once, and he would never recycly whatever jewel he had plucked. The guy has a only three other transcriptions, 2 dead a 2 phish. Anyway, I thought you would appreciate this. Also, appreciate you, (edit: Frampton idolized Garcia. He said that the high point of his career was when Jerry covered on of his songs)
Frampton cut his teeth touring the 70s first as a lead guitar player for Humble Pie before becoming a solo actFramptom comes alive! So you can bet he’s just a seasoned player with chops!
In the 50's, it was Elvis. In the 60's, it was The Beatles. In the 70's, it was Peter Frampton. In the 80's, it was Michael Jackson. In the 90's, it was Britney. In the 2000's, it was Crap, (I mean Rap). after that, it was over.
@ yea, when I saw his rig rundown during this time he had the modified Marshalls and the bixonic …best Marshall tone of all time on my estimation. Then the New Orleans Hurricane destroyed this rig a few years later…
ua-cam.com/video/ZRASrrGRArg/v-deo.htmlsi=--FNzCptqwAV5ish You’ll like this. Jonathan Waldenfrid (plays with Dirty Loops) on keys. Tobias Grenholm (bass with Jonah Nilsson on Diamond Ring) Simon Liljeblad on drums. No guitar though.

I never heard Pete play so dirty, LOVE IT!
That’s a smoker !!! Wow Peter Frampton just shredded it !!
True professional with over 50 years at it.
Popular but underrated.
Always been in my top 10 from early Humble pie days…..and when “ live “ came out it changed my world forever.
Great natural player. You know what I'm talking about. SRV, Moore, Rory, etc.
Frampton's tone here is other worldly. Love Him!
Oh it’s outstanding
I had the pleasure of seeing him live again recently and it was such an amazing and emotional experience.

That was a fun tune and great driver!
Frampton is great. Wish I had seen him live more than just once.

His Frampton Comes Alive album was awesome
Humble Pie ( w / peter frampton ) was one of my early first listens
I would love to know deeper on how to play the intro of this song, because for me as a Frampton fan as well, thus my absolute favorite song from him.

I bought this dvd because of his tone….I think it is Detroit? I believe he’s using a modified Marshall 50w and a bixonic expandora distortion
Oh really? I have the bixonic expandora. He’s probably using forbidden mode.

Please listen to more Elliott Smith. Angeles would be a good one to check our but really you can't go wrong with any of his songs.

Please do Danny Carey's new video Indiscipline!
I think I hear an Octavia pedal ? This is definitely (Humble Pie ) Peter Frampton ?
Peter Green ....please
Is his health better now? I remember hearing he had a medical issue that was forcing retirement on his playing. He seems fine here! 🤞
This isn’t recent.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, REACT TO "Entre dos aguas" by Paco de Lucía, YOU'll LOOSE YOUR MIND FOR SURE!!!
CAN u react to ichika new song and new live

This is just what its all about. Melodic choices screaming through a LP going through a cranked Marshall over top of a snappy snare. No notes.
