I've been considering this mod for awhile. From day 1 under heavy braking I noticed some flex when hitting the brakes. This looks way better than the Cusco one.
gorillahunter altho the new cusco revision can be installed from the top without having to stick your hand behind the wheel.
i checked it out. the perrin one is WAY nicer in my opinion.
Installed this on my 2015 WRX Premium yesterday. It is nice and solid in there. Was hot and humid out but got it done.
I got some ball end hex sockets for this job. Removed the driver side tire to get that bolt in. Was able to torque it down to spec. The other 3 in engine bay were doable but I did have trouble because the hex got stuck in the bolt. I was able to get the ratchet to click for being torqued down on 2 bolts in total but unable to on the others. I think I had some issues because of the cheap tool I had but it was doable for sure. I also realized I had some rust and gunk in the threads that I should of cleared out first by trying the screws in the holes first. I was in a rush... That would of made it easier to thread them in for some of them.
In any case, it seems solid. I didn't notice much a difference in braking but it is a good piece of mind. Figured I had done the pitch stop and pitch stop brace from Perrin so why not do this other mode to give it a nice complete look. Perrin didn't have the black version that I ordered in stock but surprisingly they gave me that nice bright yellow one or whatever color that is. It was more but since I contacted them they swapped the part for that color one. It looks good.
ya its subtle, but would help more if you have stainless brake lines too
@@LastHumansGarage agreed. However, for now I'm very satisfied with my braking. It is my only car so it brakes great for that.
I have brake performance slotted and dimpled rotors along eith Akebono Ceramic pads. Bled brakes using Motul Dot 5.1. Have been running that for a while now.
Had a feeling this would be the next mod, lol, good deal, 1320 Performance has one and Cuscu as well but I I think I read somewhere the Cuscu may interfere with AOS units but unsure of the 1320 Performance one. Lets hear the feedback on the effect of it and new pedal feel, as some have said they definitely notice it but I question that as well

I know this was a while ago, but would you say these braces are "all the same" and it just depends on brand preference...or, is it a wallet/price decision and the performance of the brace is no different from cheapest to most expensive...
i like the build quality of the Perrin myself. Some of the other ones arent nearly as nice looking and well made.

Hey buddy, I was thinking of installing the brace in my 14 fxt since my pedal has softened up. Do you still have yours installed and was it worth the investment?
i still have it.. didnt notice it after first day. it has nothing to do w a soft pedal. best thing for that is stainless lines.
I wish there was a little foot in between the Allen bolt and the reservoir to disperse the force a little bit. Probably not an issue though.

Cusco has one with a wider footprint between the bolt & master cylinder; however, it's stamped steel, not CNC'd aluminum.
think it also may cause issue with some AOS I hear or strut brace/bar

Strut tower brace would be better idea .
Mr. Worf is it necessary? the WRX chassis is so stiff and the strut tower sits so close to the firewall
wont fit with my intercooler

That's what I figured . They are rather cosmetic unless your tearing up the race track .
This was one of the worst installation experiences in my life of modding. I had to get my brother-in-law who has tiny hands to help, because the bolt access was almost impossible.
