I did this last weekend on my 2013 wrx. Did the pitch stop mount, clutch master brace and this master brake brace. Was the hardest part of the weekend. Blind bolt installs are so much fun! Overall, all three parts installed I feel were worth it.
Ken, that's what we shoot for!! We are glad you found it helpful. Its nice to know these videos are appreciated, we put a lot of time, planing, and effort into them. -Matt H.
I just installed this on a 2014 WRX wagon. This video certainly helps. The most difficult parts were putting the first screws in after lining up the brace, as there is very little clearance for hands or fingers in there to be able to actually turn the screw once you have it lined up. LOTS of patience required. Also, my fuel lines would not fit with the bracket turned backwards, but there was not clearance for the bottom fuel line as the 'mushroom' part of the fuel line hit this brace if put in OE position. I had to position the 2 bottom fuel lines a bit higher and use zip ties to secure. So, not a perfect fit, but good enough considering. Now that I've done it, my time would be cut in half to do it again. It took me 2 hours.
Doug, You hit the nail on the head. "patience" is indeed the key, especially on some of the newer models. In the end it is well worth the frustration, it is a pretty tight area on some models. -Matt Homes
This was very helpful in getting mine installed. The key with this install is patience. LOTS of patience. I took a quick drive around town, and the pedal feel is noticeably improved (less sponginess). Brakes might also be biting harder but I don't know for sure.
This does not work easily on 2011 sti. Stock fuel pressure regulator garbage gets in the way. Brake line is also in the way of getting short bolts in. I gave up. Going to have to take intercooler off and upgrade to aftermarket fuel pressure regulator.
Removing intercooler 1,000,000,000,000 x's easier. I spent about 15-20 minutes trying to get the 2 longer screws to cooperate then gave-in and removed the intercooler and 10 minutes later I was all done. I only wished I had waited until I ordered my clutch master cylinder brace. Oh well, the intercooler on the '13 WRX is easy to remove and put back on. Must give Grimmspeed props on the brace. It's clean and very stout. I work right down the street from you guys. I need to stop by some time and throw some more money your way.
i wonder if you'd be making an install vid on the 2011 sti. its slightly different with the car above and we could not mount it as cleanly as it was done in this video
Lies! Can’t get the first small bolt in as the line off the master cyl completely blocks access to a box end wrench or ratchet. Maybe my 2011wrx has a one off bend in the way? Supreme effort in annoyance. Maybe I’ll pawn this job off to a mechanic shop?
The master cylinder brace will significantly reduce the amount of firewall flex under high braking loads. What does this mean for the driver? A much more responsive and solid feeling brake pedal. This equates to nearly all of your energy exerted with your foot on the pedal going directly into the braking system. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. -Matt Homes
matt homes if my clutch is doing the popping noise, will installing this fix that? Or does this just effect brakes? ITS bracket is the main fix for this issue but the website is currently sold out of them. Please HELP!
If you own a 11+ sti this video does not show you what is in store for you. This brace does NOT fit an sti like this video shows on the wrx. You WILL have to modify your fuel lines in some way to make it work. They do NOT fit into the oem clip with this brace. If someone has been able to do it, I would love to see an install video or pictures. I just bought this brace after watcing this video and looking at the install instructions on Grimmspeed's website. Once under the hood it is painfully obvious that it won't work. Only options I have found on the forums is zip tie your fuel lines together and I guess hope they do not rub and cause a leak. Or lengthening your fuel lines or replacing your fuel lines to an aftermarket set which then requires a tune. If I have missed an alternative please help by posting what that is. Thanks
I just did mine over the weekend on my '13 sti. I kind of swapped the fuel lines mounting points to make it work, and cocked one "mushroom" vertical so it's much closer to the hood When closed... not my ideal install, but better than having them dangle in the engine bay. like others said, this is a 7.5/10 for difficulty. im a pretty seasoned mechanic and this gave me a hard time.
The master cylinder brace does go in a pretty tight spot and can be a little bit hard to install. It takes some patience, but once you get the OEM bracket off, it should go pretty smoothly.
I've done a ton of installs on my car but this install takes the cake. By far the biggest pain in the ass you will ever take on.
Uh try doing the clutch cylinder brace. Way bigger pain than this
Having a Joint for this install is very underrated.

Videos are so much more helpful than any instructions; you guys are the best that and your Lightweight pulley install were very helpful!

Nice shot of the finished result.

after 2 hours i finally got it on.. those bolts are hard to get on.. should take off the top mount to make your life easier.

Also, props to Bon Jovi below me. Thanks for the tips on the fuel line. It saved me much frustration.

Spent about an hour trying to get it in thinking it was going to be a quick install before work. What'd you end up doing?

My 13 sti has way different fuel lines on that same little plastic bracket. Does not fit back onto same bracket on re assembly.
What did you end up doing? Just leave it hanging?it doesn't look like there's any way for this to work.
Luis Elliott I ended rigging it up with some zip ties and cut up rubber tubing for parts that are rubbing metal to metal. Works fine.
What does that do for your car?
They should of made out of aluminum too. Its heavy
This is the most difficult part I've ever installed on any vehicle I've ever worked on.
