Probably your carburetor not sealing and it's leaking fuel into the cylinder when you're standing your weed wacker vertically up on it's end when you put it away.
Good evening, I ask another question. Do you know if the carburetor on these engines is adjustable? Do you have any adjusting screws to modify the carburetion? Thank you
According to the Carburetor Manual on the website they are adjustable. I haven't tried to modify I just use it to trim the yard. Sounds like you might have an interesting project going on there. I'd love to see some videos of it on your channel. Send me a link when you get the videos up. Best Wishes and Blessings on your project. Keith Noneya

Do you oil flush each change? I'd just put 50-100ml of diesel fuel as a flush safe to warm the engine up with I do it in my cars with 1-2L of diesel. Might just be stuck rings bit of sludge in there the oil looked old maybe add diesel to a fresh sump of oil and run that a bit to free it all up then third oil is the one you use.
The problem was the shaft on the Rocker arm had slipped and the gap between the Rocker and Cam became so large the Intake Valve wouldn't open. So even if it was flushed to clean the engine, that clean Rocker Arm still wouldn't open the Intake Valve. So clean or not the engine won't run if the valve won't open. Thanks for the tip though. Regarding the oil in the top, yes there should be a little oil up there so don't worry about that. Regarding the smoking like a freight train and spitting oil. I would think it's the Intake valve seal or the rings. Sometimes even the Cylinders get worn our and replacing the rings might help for a little while, but eventually if it's the cylinder it will start doing it again. I'm thinking maybe it's the oil valve or bad rings or something. Anyways, thanks for the video, it was a big help in seeing how these things work!
@@anthonyhiscox Hey Anthony, regarding mixing up the adjustment arms, the Exhaust is on the left and the Intake is on the right looking at them in the video. If you look at the arms one says EX and the other says IN. When I gaped the arms I got the spacing wrong. Ironically it ran fine for years like that. I'd look into put a new intake seal on it, PN: 531 00 86-33. You should be able to find them on eBay or Amazon. Hope that answers your questions. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
@@keithnoneya Oh I see, ok I'll be careful when I do my adjustment. I'll also look into ordering up some new rings and seal. If it's the cylinder Im probably hooped on this engine right? I'd have to take it to a machine shop for probably more than the engines worth?
@@anthonyhiscox I'd start with the Intake seal 1st and skip the rings for now. You are right if you take it to a machine shop it will cost you more than the weed wacker is worth. If you email me I'll send you the manuals or you can try and find them on line like I did. Do a little research on how to rebuild the GX25/35 on UA-cam then decide if you want to go that route. My email is on my home page in the "...more" tab to the right of my channel name. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
Mine no longer runs unless it's half choked... any thoughts?
Check your gas tank filter. If it's not getting enough fuel with less vacuum in the venture the only way to get more vacuum to draw fuel is to choke it. Hope that helps. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

Hi mine is doing the same wont start but got fuel plug wet so checked spark all good but still no go so fort was cab so got new but still no joy can any one help!!
I had the same problem and it was the intake valve not opening because the rocker arm had slipped. Try checking the valve clearance on the rocker arms like I show in the video. If they are out of specs try adjusting the clearance and try starting it again. Let me know how it goes. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

You have to press the rockers out ir use a are hammer very low
I don't understand the last half of your sentence. I couldn't find a press to press it so I used the hammer. If you have a link to a press that you have used on this motor I'd like to get one. It still works great after more than two years. I hope you get yours fixed. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
Si la mia hecha humo seria por esos sellos ???
What do you mean by up in smoke?
Keith Noya

Smoke coming from the exhuast port is an idication of oil in the cylinder. If someone mixes oil with the fuel like a 2 Cycle fuel it will smoke. If no oil was added to the fuel, then this is caused by one or more of the following things; worn rings, worn cylinder, worn Intake valve guide or seal.

Keith Noya
Google Translate: If the Valve to Rocker Arm clearance is good, the fuel is good, the timing is good, then it's carburation or cold. You have to let this engine idle for a minute before your accelerate the throttle. If you the repair shop said it's all good you'll have to check it yourself. All small engines do smoke a little so remember that. After you check all those things and it still runs funny, change the fuel tank filter and the carburetor. If after that all is still giving you a problem, take it to another professional shop and have it repaired. Watch LOTS of UA-cam videos, these engines are not that hard. If it is rings, watch some videos on how to rebuild it. Hope that helps. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
good video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it. Make sure and read the description "SHOW MORE" tab and comments below. There is some good information in there I didn't cover. Including that I had gaped them opposite of each other, LOL Just use the right measurements on the right rocker arm when you do them, LOL. Thanks for watching. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
I THINK YOU GOT MIXED UP ON THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST .
Maybe start running some 10/30 synthetic high millage oil in it.
Not sure how changing the Oil would repair the slipped Rocker Arm Shaft, but I guess it would run as well as the 30 Oil weight the book calls for. Then again I didn't stay a "Best Western" the night before fixed it! Thanks for watching Goose. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
@@keithnoneya A difference oil may help with oil seeping past the rings and gumming up you’re valve guid. That’s what those high millage oils are designed for. Cheers.

You're one of the few to notice that. If you read the description I mention that. The nice part is the weed wacker still ran great. About a year later I did correct the problem. Despite that mix up, I hope you found the video useful to fix a common problem on this Honda Engine. Thanks for looking out for me and others in the video. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
Hello Keith yes i did enjoy your video, it inspired me to service my Honda Umk 425 four stroke line trimmer, Australian model as I come from the land down under , the line trimmer is eight years old so valve timing reset , oil change carb rebuild , new fuel lines and both filters replaced and now runs like clock work , thanks for the inspiration and God bless you,
Tony
Maybe you can google and look for pdf manual for free
I tried that and found a ton of manuals. However they cover everything except how to change the rockers. The manual wants you to change the whole top half of the motor. I even took it to a specialist and he couldn't figure it out and told me I had to buy a new motor. After doing this procedure the weed wacker runs great, even after all this time. Let me know if you find a link to the manual that has instructions on changing the rockers. I'll put the link in the description for others to use. Thanks for the comment. You have your tolerance’s backward.
Yep a few of you guys have caught that. 😂I mention that in the write up below the video. Fortunately since I posted this it still runs great even over the last 3 years. When you do yours try to get it right, If you don't well it hasn't made one difference and I haven't redone it since then. 😁 Thanks for watching. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
Interestingly Ford have gone to a wet cam belt on various European cars and vans and are having many engine failures at 60k miles even though the engines were serviced regularly. Total disaster.
