Idaho gynecologist urges patients consider risks of using tampons

Local gynecologists expect to answer more questions about tampon usage from their patients as they meet for regular checkups following a study finding measurable levels of 16 different metals in the period products.
"We may not have the definitive evidence linking the presence of heavy metal in a tampon to an adverse health effect, " said Dr. Guillermo Guzman, an OBGYN with St. Alphonsus Health System. "I ask my patients how comfortable are you knowing what has been found? And tell them to decide[to use tampons or not] based on that."
