Jansher's on-court movement is a joy to watch. So fluid, so seemingly simple, yet so effective. Incredible.
Great game, the ball was surprisingly visible for a match filmed in 1992

Third rally lasting 3+ minutes. I've lost games in less time than that!
racquets were 50-70% ( 170-220gms ) , much heavier than today with much smaller face/head then . It was measurably less powerful ( still have few of them for comparisons ) , but compensate by the ball seems measurably more bouncy/faster thus harder to die in corners ( though also double yellow ) . Low kills were impossible except by Rodney and Dittmar . Have seen Jansher and both other players played live . They will do very well in today's standard. Jansher's effortless speed , super efficient footwork and legendary court coverage will still be very applicable today at the very top level . Rodney was the magician or Ashour of that era , found nicks after nicks despite those heavy racquets. What could they have done more with today's racquets would be an interesting guess.
Rodney, my icon at the time. I had really wanted to watch him play like a sharp razor blade against "flawless" Jansher many more years to come after this. Still now, his move and swing look super cool.
The level of fitness is insane. To keep the rally going for that length of time and still be able to hit with power! Unbelievable

I might be wrong but this was before the front tin was officially lowered to allow shorter kill shot rallies, hence why the rallies were so much longer with less attacking boasts used. We also used to play to 9 points but with hand outs allowing only the server to get the point, was much much harder to make a comeback as you had to win the serve back first.
Tony you are correct about the tin height being lowered later (from 19 inches to 17 inches high) -- and the old 9 point handout system
Squash is much better nowadays
I notice today's players make far more use of the attacking boast than they did back then. It seems that every ball these guys hit is straight with much less variety or risk taking. The game has certainly evolved though I believe these two would still be at or near the top and would simply adapt to today's game. Jansher had that reputation throughout his career which spanned from the mid 80's to the late 90's. Fitness and speed never go out of style.
When I watch this game, I get the sense that squash has changed in the last 10 years. Is my impression correct?

I had the great pleasure of watching both Rodney and Jansher playing 'live' when they were at their peaks. They were both incredible hitters of the ball (even with those small rackets) and great movers. Jansher in particular was the most efficient mover I have ever seen -- he looked like he was walking around the court (Ramy Ashour also comes to mind as a smooth mover)I'm pretty sure both Rodney and Jansher would excel if they were playing in the modern era -- even though it is a different (and more exciting) game now
I just checked - Martin won this match 3-0!
Jansher is Roger Federer of Squash. So pleasing on the eye.
Perhaps its better to say federer is jasher khan of tennis

To add to the comments about how different today's professional game is from the one in this video, touring pros now volley a lot more. And there is no question that the lower tin encourages more risk-taking in the front

Lol guys pls keep wanking to 3 minute rallies that get won by a dying length or some other boring shot, and pretending that Egypt has not been the true innovator and enlightment of squash Salty are you actually serious? Did it even come to mind that maybe, just maybe, Egypt is a poor country that did not have good squash facilities and squash culture until the mid/late nineties? Are you actually suggesting that with a higher tin in this day and age Egypt would not be dominating? I will drop an eye opener here, but it might be needed for you 2 to get an actual brain before you can comprehend: Egypt has innovated the game of squash by refining and mastering the art of attack. Dude, you know what. It actually saddens me that we are discussing this in such an ego-infused way, geez what is this. You know what: you have your opinion, I have mine. I am actually not a social player and I used to do solo training 4 times a week to make the first team at my local club. Squash really means a great deal to me I have great respect for conservative English play, and I love Mathews work ethic and traditional style as much as I do Ramy's magic. Anyways, don't call me a moron and maybe we can have a discussion in mutual respect. Cheers

Jansher is widely recognized as the greatest player of all time. Even today’s players acknowledge it. His record speaks for itself. He’d adapt and still beat everyone.
