It’s funny watching these old games. So many soft lets. I’m glad the PSA adapted the expectations of this for the modern game.
for all the critics of this match, you may want to consider that the match took place in 2004. different rackets, balls, courts, rule interpretations and possibly tin height.
the ball is obviously bouncing much more than any match you will see these days on a glass court making it much harder to control.
there were a few errors in the middle part of the game, but that happens from time to time.
on some glass courts, especially in the past, you can see at lot through the front wall so that it can be quite off putting so it may have been the case here.
you can see some videos of john white playing the current crop of players and even though he is in his forties, is far from fit and being at the ideal weight, he is still competitive.
these are very good players.
That was fun to watch. Beachill has such a pretty backhand. I never saw him play in person, but got to see white at the end of his career. Amazing how how just thunder a rail for a winner. At his prime he was almost impossible to get off the T.
Can't believe all the hating comments on this video. Two legends at work here. Was the game scrappy? Absolutely. Has anyone played squash before? Not always a well-oiled machine...
Hellrun Sure, you are right. I guess the people are just wondering why you would dig through the archives to upload this particular game. I find it hard to believe that there was no better game at TOC that year
Love the videos from back in the day,, a subsrcriber myself would like to see more of Jonathan power matches ,,great work guys keep it up.
What a shot to finish the game
So glad they modified the 'let' rule. I couldn't watch a game like this all the time
Wow 😯
Interesting that Beachill was seeded 4th here, but became world number 1 in October of the same year.
So many lets in comparison with today's game.
White was a beast, though.👹
And they've just put up the yes lets. That's pretty strange
These yes let decisions are laughable. It explains some of the behaviour from the fossils I play against in the league though.
Interesting decision to put this match up as it is so bad. Bad squash with lots of decisions and mistakes. Not a great advertisement for squash when there are so many fantastic matches to choose from.
fair point, we pick the matches for these freeviews more based on the players we haven't seen much of on SquashTV for a while
PSA SQUASHTV when will the winner of the one year of squash tv be announced
It already has on the 70k video
Rubbish. This is good squash played by two of the best players of the era.
This is a perfect example of why squash lost its popularity. Glad the games changed so significantly since these days
Not a good advertisement for our sport... :-(
I can't help but feel that a lot of the Archive and Free Game videos are let-fests.
the point of this video is to show u how sucky squash was before the Egyptians
