    La Taqueria is the single best burrito I've ever found across the U.S. and including Tucson! I used to eat at his San Jose branch once per week until I got transferred up the peninsula. I plan to visit him on my next trip to the city as I really miss his food. Also, the owner is a really great guy.

    your "La Taqueria" burrito looked pale and it seems that nobody ever told you about the dorado style.
    when you go to "La Taqueria" for Burritos, always ask for Dorado style (crispy outside).
    so, after they steam it they will grill it for you. it's not on the menu, so you have to tell them that.
    and two things to order from La Taqueria: super burrito carnitas dorado (shredded pork) & super burrito carne asada dorado (steak).
    however for me as a SF local, my best Burritos are from "La Espiga de Oro" (24th & Florida / 5 mins away walking from La Taqueria)(one block away from "La Palma").
    order super burrito carne asada (steak) or super burrito chicharron (fried pork).
    try it and compare it with La Taqueria for yourself.
    and it comes with the chips, and much cheaper price than La Taqueria.
    forget "El Farolito", it's not worth it.
    hipsters hyped
    one thing is good at "La Palma": Chicharron (fried pork) by the pound. amazing!

      Thanks SF.DC! It was awhile ago but I think I ordered it regular to make it easier to eat on camera 😳. If I didn't mention Dorado style in the video shame on me but that's def the way to go!

      Regardless of which style you choose La Taqueria makes the best burritos and tacos in the Bay Area bar none. I used to eat at their San Jose store all the time until I got transferred to another city.

      Completely agree about having it “Dorado style” and that El Farolito can’t compare.

      I didn’t know La Taqueria had another location, it’s a family-owned business that was almost forced to close a few years ago due to negotiations re their lease.
      There’s La Victoria Taqueria with several San Jose locations and others (I go to their Hayward restaurant), notable for their “orange sauce”- were you thinking of them?

    I ate at "El Taconazo", 7384 Mission St... in Daly City. A really good meal of 'Gambas al Ajillo [Garlic shrimp]? in the shell, deveined, butterflied, and cooked on s grill/griddle, = "a la plancha" style. 9 garlicky shrimp, rice, refries, a salad. Perfecto. Highly recommended. That was March 9, 2021, and they had indoor seating. I was next door at the eye doctor, his nyrse recommended it. I drove from Oakkand, and I will happily drive to Daly City again, it was that good. And their salsa is SPICY. Yum!!

    La Taqueria - my favorite Mission burrito! I like it better than El Farolito.
    Looks like you didn’t order it “Dorado style” which is grilled to produce a golden brown texture and color on the tortilla. It’s not on the menu but all the regulars know of it.
    Pre-Covid the place would be packed and oftentimes a mariachi would enter and entertain the packed house. You’d see tourists with their suitcases too. I miss that.
    Thanks for ending your vlog with LaTaq!!!

      All good -- it's a damn fine burrito! I did know about the Dorado style at the time but don't remember why now I didn't order it. 🌯🤷🏻‍♀️

    Here in Denver there is a gourmet mexican restaurant called Tamayo and they serve authentic Mexican cousine, not mexican american or Texan food, I hope one day you visit Denver and make a video of this restaurant

    Are there any upscale Mexican restaurants in SF? .......

    • @ZeeneInRealLife
      @ZeeneInRealLife  5 років тому +1

      Hi Daniel! Three on my recommend list in order of price: Californios (Mission), Lolo (Mission), and Arguello (Presidio). The first two have fusion elements to them. The last restaurant is by local celebrity chef Traci Des Jardins (who has Mexican roots) and hones more closely to traditional Mexican with California farm-to-table elements. The restaurant is more casual but the setting in the Presidio is romantic as is their patio area.

      And "Pagan" way out on Clement [near the V.A. hospital] for Burmese and Thai food. And for Lebanese food, "Layaly" in the 2500 (?) block of Clement [only open for dinner; carryout during CoVid; delivery avsilable in normal times again, hopefully].
      Deelishus!!

    It's a travesty that La Taqueria is labeled a Mission burrito and even more of an insult to call it the "best" burrito is SF. El farolito and Taqueria Cancun have far superior super burritos that are bigger and cheaper.

    • @random1883
      @random1883 4 роки тому +2

      I agree with Taqueria Cancun. Solid burrito. Taqueria El Castillito
      on Mission @ 17th is decent too.

      Taqueria Cancun is a joke. Inconsistent as can be, old rice, tortilla falling apart, very little meat in the burrito. Stopped eating there 20 years ago

    Nice taquerias Too bad I can't say the same about the taqueria. The coyotes bought fish stock gave us the fish's tail and the tail you know it has no meat

      humberto958 actually it doesn’t. Bay Area has very decent Mexican food, and I’ve tried both LA & Bay Area. I’d say they are the same shit
