    I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this, but the Daiso papers (calligraphy/rice in your video) are dollar store buys. If you have a Daiso store near you, it's probably $1.25 to $1.50 a pack. They do have an online store but I believe you need to order 10 at a time. Thanks for the info!

    I like sketch weight paper for printing/collaging a lot. Also, I have a lot of packages of scrapbook printed papers. There are always some I don't like, so I print over them. The paper is nice quality. Sometimes I completely cover the image on the paper, sometimes I layer over it and can still see some of the design underneath. Some of them are white on the back, so I use that side. So no risk in printing on them since I wasn't fond of the paper in the first place.

    I used to lead a woman's shelter and were in contact with nuns who gifted me stacks of papers which I now think are vintage onion skin. I did not know what I had at that time. I used them up with eco printing and rust designs.
    Thanks for this helpful little workshop Robyn

    Hi Robyn! Thanks for this video (and for your other ones, too). This inspired me to buy the package of glassine paper and to make 12" x 14" gel plate prints. I typically use my gel prints to collage on wood panel, and I'm curious whether the glassine ends up being as see-through as deli paper once glued down. Also, since it tends to wrinkle on the gel plate, does it also tend to wrinkle when gluing down? Thanks again.

    This is great! Which paper 'disappears' the most when collaged leaving only the stencilled or stamped part showing? Tissue, tracing, deli etc. Does this make sense?
    Also, Do you rinse your ink tray after each intuitive writing session or just let it dry? If the second option, does the dried stuff interfere with new India ink you pour in?
    Thanks so much for all your teaching. You have revolutionized my art!!!!

    • @RobynMcClendon
      @RobynMcClendon  2 роки тому +10

      Aww thank you! I appreciate your kind words. Tissue paper is my top choice for papers that disappear in collaging....tracing paper would be second! I don't personally use deli paper for gelli printing due to the waxy finish & the fact that it doesn't glue down as well when collaging. I would recommend Glassine in place of deli paper as a similar alternative.
      & as far as the ink goes I do not rinse my ink tray! I use a porcelain ink tray because when the ink dries I can peel it up and save the ink and use it again later by rehydrating it with a couple of drops of water! :)

    I use my 12x12 DSP from pads that I didn't get inspired by. I never use copy paper. It warps so bad. I want to cover books or journals or put on a collage painting with these materials and the really thin/cheap paper will warp so bad that I get p***ed trying to work with it and mold it into my projects. If I am doing fresh prints that I will use later, I do at least 65lb index paper. It can withstand the moisture.

      The only way I know of feeding tissue paper through a printer is to adhere it to a piece of copier paper with reposition glue or tapping the edges. Any paper under, I want to say, 18 GSM (Weight), will not feed smoothly through a printer!

    Robyn- when I use tissue on my gelliplate, its very hard to peel the paper off without tearing it. Do I have to buy more expensive tissue to solve this problem?

    • @RobynMcClendon
      @RobynMcClendon  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Linda! I recommend the Archival Tissue paper. It is linked in the description. The trick to using tissue paper is pulling thin layers. In my experience when there is too much paint on the plate i.e. too much moisture the tissue paper will absorb that moisture and tear. Archival tissue paper is used for storing and protecting historical documents or artworks. It's acid free and designed to not degrade easily. This type of tissue paper will hold up much better on the gelli plate™

      I don't use deli paper for gelli printing anymore. The waxy finish doesn't make it suitable for collaging :)

      Hi, to the right of the video tittle on the screen you will find a 'down arrow' by clicking on that arrow you will open the 'information' area for the video. You should find a link to Robyn McClendon's shop on Amazon.

    Sometimes I use tracing paper. It reminds me of onion skin paper and it’s inexpensive.

    Onion skin! Just letting you know I watch all your videos through to the end! This one was really helpful. I’m gearing up for a gelli printing session. I seem to take over the while kitchen when I do one so it isn’t something I do spontaneously during my regular at sessions. Lol
