Older artist here, losing my eyesight. Decided recently to try working with a gelli plate, not knowing much about it, and stumbled on your channel. you're opening new possibilities for me and I can't tell you how grateful I am.
Hi there - very glad the videos are helping out. I reckon working on the bigger plates may be accessible if you're struggling with your eyesight. I did a video on big oil pastel drawing transfer that might be useful to you. Remember, Turner did his absolute best work when his eyesight got too strained for detail - not just HIS best work, but some of the best and most groundbreaking work ever made : ) xxx
I am revisiting gel printing from my high school days. Back then we made our own plates. I'm so excited to find your tutorials! I want to do my own art. So many of the other channels gear more towards card making or just photo transfers. This is really inspiring! Thank you!
Extremely well produced video that answers a lot of questions by being about the art, not the artist. So many videos ramble: not this one though. Thank you.
Thanks so much for your generous sharing and your examples of experiments. You are a skilled & creative artist, and it’s amazing what you find to do with a gelli plate!!
If drawing is a challenge, maybe tracing over an existing drawing would work (for example, tracing over a photocopy placed on top of some thicker paper)
Hi Cher, glad you're getting something from my videos and sincere thanks for your donation - saving up for some better filming and editing equipment and a huge gel plate so every little helps!!
Your experiments take the gel plate to exciting levels. I like the originality you put into your art without using all the store-bought stencils and such. That is real art to me. To be a free thinker and use what is around you and see what works. My question: What is the best way to clean the plate with the mediums you use, like, crayon, pastels, charcoal, ect...I have an old plate. I used charcoal on it but the ghost is still on it. Thanks for sharing your techniques, intriguing to watch.
I love all the great things you do with everyday supplies. And then you go on to mash the techniques together to make even more amazing art. Fabulous videos! I bought a pack of foam printing plates that look like cardstock but hold a line even better. They don't wear out like the cardstock. I've made small texture plates with them but you are inspiring me to go big!
Hi Robin, that's a lovely comment, thanks. It's been really important to me to use accessible and, where possible, cheap materials. The basics - gel plate / brayer / paint cost enough as is, so I've been avoiding all the fancy pants pre cut stencils and what not.
I enjoyed watching your process of using the ball point pen as an embossment. I never would have thought of doing that. I have only made transfer prints on a plexiglass plate. Thank you! I am a printmaker in the East coat of the United States. 😊
Thanks for joining the faculty of “digitdot university” in 2021. So easy to learn technical stuff from every video, but most important is watching & hearing the passion for making art in your voice. No faking that. Bravo!
Bowled over by such lovely comments. Of course, I love making stuff, so I'm delighted that comes across. All I want is for people to feel motivated to have a go and adapt things to their own needs : )
Beautiful technique! Thank you soooo. Inch for sharing your experimental gelli printing techniques! You are an amazing artist too and soooo generous to share! !
Thank you so much Mark, I really really enjoyed watching you creating these Gelli Plate prints, with ballpoint pens. Did transfer really well. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I love your experiments! You are such a talented artist, and that makes it so fun to wonder and see where you will go next. Thank you for your generosity!
Its so versatile : ) Technique works brilliantly along with wax crayon areas to create mid tones and textures - see vid linked below ua-cam.com/video/_imymWTVJv0/v-deo.html

I did go and watch...
The state of your gel plate adds texture to your creations. I’m so jealous I can’t draw like yourself 😂
!! The state of my plate was just laziness initially !!
I love that we learn WITH you when you are experimenting! Thank you!
Glad to hear - I do not want to give the impression it is all plain sailing so usually film my first attempts, with all the pitfalls that brings : )
Love this technique! I’m so grateful when you show us your explorations and share the whole process, including the less successful aspects. Thank you!
A pleasure T Hanna, glad you enjoyed it : )
I can’t wait to try this! So many possibilities.
That's great. If you're making a picture to sell you can sign it with the plate!

A pleasure to share and glad the videos are of use : )
❤❤❤
what's the recipe to make your own gel plate? Could you share one (tested)?
Thanks for telling me you let it dry!! No one else I have watched has ever said that ❤❤❤😊
Pretty important for avoiding rips - I learnt the hard way!!!!
Oooh, very interesting technique. The green lines on black was actually my favourite. :)
Hope it works for you : )
Absolutely BRILLIANT I was captivated by the whole process. Thank you.
Extremely well produced video that answers a lot of questions by being about the art, not the artist. So many videos ramble: not this one though. Thank you.
never would have thought this would have worked !!!

If drawing is a challenge, maybe tracing over an existing drawing would work (for example, tracing over a photocopy placed on top of some thicker paper)
Love it! 😊
Fun! Especially love the character of the last one.
This is a technique with a lot of potential.
It is, just pushing it now by working on heavier paper and making it damp so the emboss is easier! Loads of fun!
