I thought the move to 18" wheels would be too jarring, but with the covers on they hardly look different. Love seeing all the new cars in action, can't wait for the first race!
The tyres went humongous (compared) to deal with the 18" wheels. Thats why it doesn't look that different.

I love this year's cars. Each one of them feels unique and has their own philosophy. They remind me of the cars in 2000s when each team were mad with their aero (winglets, gills, etc). However, I don't know if by the end of this testing teams will copy each other and the cars will look just the same in the end.
I can't wait for the season to start!

The Ferrari and merc sound vicious. Man! Let’s hope Ferrari does well this year and brings a challenge to red bull and merc.
It's going to be an intense season. 4 teams at the top with extremely talented and experienced drivers. Hoping for some upset victories and miracle stories. Mid field is also going to be packed with action. The whole season is going to be an absolute banger

Were there changes to the power unit regs this season? Cause yeah, the Ferrari, Merc, and honestly the Red Bull too in my opinion just sound like absolute beasts.
Hope McLaren is up there too. Didn't look so bad either for them so far (but unfortunately it's only testing, so who knows).

Seeing every car taking different concepts and designs I would expect
A) One dominant car that absolutely crush everyone else
B) Each car shining on different circuits and sectors (less likely sadly)
I predict Red Bull to completely dominate…
@@Dhoyos7 can’t see that with how much they poured into the title battle last year the least time spent on development out of all the teams for this year so but max Will get 100% whether he’s in a world beater or a go kart
@@samnicholson794 the fact that the new regs got delayed a whole year makes me think it's less likely that focusing on 2021 will have hurt them too much in terms of having time to develop for 2022

I feel this sport is growing exponentially. I have been a huge fan since 1995, and it certainly had a big dip for many years but the sport feels so much bigger now (also due to last year's rollercoaster)
I think the netflix drive to survive series has helped massively with F1s new popularity.

@@simonschipper6090 So I am not the only one who thinks they sound different? Engines are the same so I did not expect that. But I guess it is because of the exhaust that is also very important in how a car sounds.

I’m astonished with what the teams have done with these regulations. Such different designs from what seemed to be very constrained regulations. There really are a lot of geniuses in those factories!

I am Fan of F1 since 1962. Yes, I was at East London (RSA) and I was 7 years old. Aujourd'hui, je suis toujours Fan mais j'ai juste 66 ans. But now problem, I will remain a fan till I die. Hope that in Paradise they still have the show on TV. I'll let you know. But I am not in a hurry.
The version 2022 looks out of this world. Elles sont routes jolies. Manzepin ne va pas me manquer.
Love the 2008 curvy and thick look on the cars.

No idea how they did that inside. They have an aggressive downslope to the beam wing but also they have one of the most aggressive undercuts somehow.
It's basically same as Alpines. What's so insane about that?

My first remark is that the front wing is unusually high to the ground, except that, 2022 cars are beautiful! Cant wait the new season !
It didnt change too much. But the sound those cars produce is awesome! The woosh sound of the venturis really adds to it. It feels like you get an audible impression of the cars aerodynamic forces.
Maybe I've missed the engine sound a bit to long but they do sound dirrfrent do they? That downshifting/enginebraking sound is amazing
they increased the rev limit but i didnt hear it in this clip

The teams were probably sandbagging and ran the engine on a lower output making it sound different

The new cars are giving my IndyCar vibes for some reason.
Very interesting stylistic changes though. About time the order was shaken up a little.

Ferrari looks gorgeous on track. Such a menacing sight of red beast.
Those Red Bull sidepods are radically different compared to the rest of the field, I guess they are designed to push as much air to the sides and around the rear wheels. Really curious to see how these cars perform and evolve over the the next few weeks and months.
They have a crazy undercut and also have a downslope feeding the beam wing. Its really hard to imagine how they packaged their sidepods to get them like that.
eeeh completely wrong. They are basically the same concept as Alpha Tauri, its just because they arent painted that people think its something radically different... Take a closer look and dont be foolish. The only thing really interesting about them is the air intake as it has a lower edge protrusion, something not seen on any other car

Alfa Romeo to me looks completely different. RB has pretty much the same with Alpha Tauri and almost the same as Alpine's.
Alfa Romeo is the only one that goes with a fully hanging sidepods with the sloped underpart of the sidepods extending to the rear. Can see clearly at 2:58
The only team that has actually different sidepods is Mercedes - just look at how small they are reducing the wind resistance and how far back the air intakes are situated comparing to everyone else, including McLaren.
With that being said, there are only two options for this season (unless the FIA changes the rules): either Mercedes is gonna crush everyone already half way through the season or either they'll become the new Haas.

They look very front heavy, height of wing certainly doesn't help.
They were being raised by the regs anyway but teams have been lifting them out of the way to stop them messing with airflow to the floor

I really have to get used to those high front wings. I love Ferraris livery (finally got rid of these strange green parts) which gives me old school vibes.

The sidepods on the MCL36 have the same design language as the road cars. I think that's really cool
The new cars look so elegant from top to bottom. The front wings and varied side pod designs give the field so much character. Absolutely love the look these regs have created, hopefully the performance on track gives us close racing.
These cars are quickly becoming my favourite in terms of looks

@@neil1jnr nah it's where it should be. The legendary F2004 had that. Even the iconic Renault R24 to R26 and 2005 McLaren had even higher wings
Hopefully the new engines (2026?) allow for at least partial 4WD so wheels can be made smaller like 2009 - 2016 spec

I'm clearly not an engineer or mechanic... But to me they look exactly like every F1 car from the past thirty years.
I think it's the first season I've been looking forward to see what is going to happen, since 2012.. I'm impressed!

Two years ago when a friend of mine got me into f1 I couldn't imagine that i would be this much happy for funny cars going around in circles again
