Update: I've had the Sensor about 6 months , and I'm at 15% battery life remaining. If you like this video, check out my other video for the Smartthings Water Leak Sensor 👍
Great Video and great info. I tried to look almost everywhere for these sensors but i cant seem to find them. What other suggestion would you recommend in case i cant get these??
i might be tempted to try one of theese on my wwardrobe closet sliding doors to trigger led stripes inside the closet (for a number of reasons it is not possible to use a normal door/window sensor) and i am less than impressed with the aqara vibration sensor…it seems very unstable..
i tried smartthings (aeotec) multi sensor….works perfect… no disconnecting issues, solid material, and the magnet contact gives you more flexibility than the flimsy ones from competitor companies..
Great vid thanks! Just wondering if you can simply have it set to a notification on your phone when someone comes through a door? I'd like to set up certain times (where this happens) 😁 Thank you! 🙏
Can you put down the link for the hub needed for this sensor please. Also i have a hub for my hue lights. would having multiple hubs in the same room interfere with one another in any other way?
Hi, thanks for the video, I would like to ask you , if I will put this device on my dryer and I want to get notify when my dryer is finished, how can I configure it to do so ?
Hey, how would I go about receiving a notification if a door/window is opened, for example someone breaks in a window and you get a notif when you're at work to warn you....
Do they sound off any kind of alarms? Like say a specific notification/ alarm tone to your phone, or on the sensor itself? Because my door lock doesn't even send me notifications like i thought it would i literally have to go into the smartthings app where i can essentially see a log of when the door was opened or closed.
Thank You for the detailed step-by-step video. Very informative for the layman. I have installed the Smart Thing app on my iphone and so far I have one device (my Samsung Soundbar Q950-A) connected to the app. I do not have the SmartThing Hub. Recently I purchased the All purpose Sensor (Model:IM6001MPP05) and tried to connect but each time the SmartThing app on my phone prompts "it needs a Hub to connect". Can I add the multi-purpose sensor without a hub, and with just the Smart Thing app on my phone. Any suggestions is welcomed.
@@HipIOReviews I already have a Philips Hue hub. Could you connect the sensor to it and then use it via the smartthings app? or vice versa, you can connect the Philips hue lights directly to a Smartthings hub without a Philips hue hub. So that you don't need both hubs.
Seems right. The one i added to my front door in 2 months, used 15% , And my sliding door which gets more action in 1 month used 15% , so that should me to a little over 12months for the front and 7 months on the sliding door. Hope this helps.
I realize this video is old but was hoping you could help. I had 2 of these multi purpose sensors ( the oval ones ) connected in ST ( new app, V3 Hub ). Everything went off line for a few hours and then came back except the sensors. So I've reset them, taken the batteries out and reinstalled, etc. The sensors are flashing red/green like they should and my hub flashes green as it should ( when looking to pair ) but no matter what I do I can't get the sensors to reconnect. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Have you already tried this? Remove the battery of the multipurpose sensor. Open your SmartThings app and search for devices. In your sensor, press the reset button as you put the battery and release the button once you see the LED
You'll can probably use it as a glass break sensor if you set it up to alert on vibration. I personally have not used it like that, so I can't confirm if you would get false alerts if your Windows shake when people are walking around or wind against your windows.
I talked to the actual Samsung company, and they said I dont need to have the hub to use smartthings light bulbs and door sensors. I replied again as a just incase and said so I dont have to buy a hub to use them in my home and that I can just use my tv an app, they said yes correct. Regardless of what is true I really appreciate you taking the time to reply back. Thanks
Background music was unnecessary and rediculously distracting. Could not get passed the first two minutes of this video. It's never a good idea to add background music on a how to or explanation video.
At £60.00 pounds, I don't think so it is too much money so I will not be buying anything to do with this company then you have to buy a hub at £80.00 so to know if a door is open £130 wow that is taking the piss

The only other sensors I've used were the Xiaomi ones, they're a good price but harder to setup and the magnet is definitely not as strong.
@@HipIOReviews thanks for your response. Will these work with out a hub?
No, they need a hub.

Hi, can I use phillips hub as the bridge or do I need to but also the Samsung Hub?
You'll need a hub, Philips hub does not support it.
@@HipIOReviews ok, thanks!
good information, I'm new to smart devices, do I need a Hub for using this sensor or, can I control the sensor from mobile phone? thanks
You need a hub

Yup, once someone opens the door you'll get an alert

Hi,
SmartThings (Aeotec) Hub V3
And no, I also have both, no issues.
Hi, thanks for the video, I would like to ask you , if I will put this device on my dryer and I want to get notify when my dryer is finished, how can I configure it to do so ?
I think you could setup something using SmartThings and IFTTT, but I have not tried it my self
What if I don’t have a hub? Do I need to get one?
Yes you would need a hub.
Hey cool video, would this work with the SmartThings v2 hub or would I need the new v3 hub, thanks !
It will work on both
@@HipIOReviews Thanks !

In SmartThings, you just add the Notify Me When Smart app.
@@HipIOReviews ah great, thank you 😊

Only in the SmartThings app, I have the "Notify me when" smart app, when the contact sensors open I get a notification on my phone.

How long about battery time? I read on a forum a guy was saying between 6-12 months depends on your using. Is that right? Thank you

I have a Samsung QLED Q80T smart tv with smartthings built in, would I still need to have a hub to use this.
No you would need a hub, the tv only serves as a dashboard for SmartThings.

Hmm, I don't think the tv has ZigBee. But if you end up buying the sensor. Let me know if it works. I would love to know :)
Haha yeah it turns out they misinformed me the 3 times I got in contact with them. U have to buy a hub for these items to work.
Are you able to connect this device to google home?
No, you would need a hub.

Google home so need to let 3rd party's like Smarthings have access to routines. Be great, open door, play radio on kitchen speaker.

Wow. It's 60 pounds??.. I agree too expensive. In Canada it's $34. I ran the conversation, that would be $104CAD. 🤯
